Quite the upgrade from the Sony BDP-S6700. Then again you get what you pay for. The UBP-UX80 is built like a tank and weighs like one. It’s solid structure goes well with its quick load time, stunning Ultra HD playback. Didn’t realize that this model has been out for awhile now in terms of electronic years but you wouldn’t know the difference because of its stellar performance. If you want Dolby Vision you’ll have to upgrade to the UBP-X800M2. Otherwise, you won’t be disappointed with this one. You’ll get the same from Sony, superior build quality, performance and reliability!

The audio quality is exceptional. I couldn't believe how amazing this thing sounds compared to my old Blu_Ray player. I have it hooked up to a Pioneer VSX-1124-K receiver and Boston Acoustics VR 960's and movies sound exceptional. Good example. Watching the opening crawl sequence of Star Wars: A New Hope, I was hearing individual instruments I had never heard before. Totally worth the money for that alone! The picture quality is fantastic as well. Very good color and clarity. The player also syncs seamlessly with my Sony tv. A nice added bonus.

This DVD player is easy to use. I plugged it into my Panamax surge power protector. It streams 4K. I love how it is an integral part of our 4K system. It was on sale for $199. It has more features than more expensive models.

While not the cheapest player, this UBP_UX80 not only has excellent Dolby Atmos sound but also 3D capability which is not listed in the description. 3D may not be your thing but if you have the disks, it's nice to have a player as it seems 3D is phasing out. The Atmos sound is much better than my Xbox put out - much better soundfield with the Sony. The metal body and hefty weight screams quality and (hopefully) long-life.

I am so happy with this unit. The hifi sound in itself is phenomenal. The fact that it also plays 4K video is just an added bonus. I know it doesn’t have Dolby vision, but I’m not a fan of it at all.

I was in the store trying to decide between this one and Samsung’s 4K player.....same price. This one is whisper quiet easy set up and good and plays all my Blu Rays, DVD’s and 4K Ultra’s very good.

The Sony 4K player does everything I need and then some. It has a simple, easy to navigate interface, video and audio quality are excellent, set was a breeze...what's there not like.

I have had no problems with this 4K player. It’s delivered quality picture and sound. Pair it up with a 4K movie and a 4K tv to make sure you have an optimal picture and sound.

So far this has done all I've hoped for and a bit more. Great picture quality and easy to use. Also great features for accessing Netflix and amazon movies

This is a very nice player. Everything seems to work well and set up was easy... It is rather large though, 17 inches wide X 10 inches deep X 2 inches high.

Easy to set-up. A number of outputs for various surround sound systems. Better than the newer, lighter one, that ‘replaced’ this model.

Easy setup and simple to use. Lots of functionality and you cannot beat the clarity of the picture

1st the good. Works great with bluray/dvd. Very quick from power to ready. Very quick from inserting disk to ready to play. Shows DVD as 480P. Previous bluray player (8 year old phillips) only did 480i. For both the disk spinning noise is inaudible. The not so good. Some DVD aspect ratios are not detected properly. Star Trek DS9 displays incorrect as 16:9. Star Trek Voyager correct as 4:3. Stargate SG1 shows correct as 16:9. BtVS also correct 4:3. 4K blurays are a bit noisy. I've only got 2 4K blurays. Last Jedi and Cocco. The disk spinning noise is audible for both. I've had 3 other 4K bluray players. 2 LG's (don't recall models but they were under $100) and a Sony ubp-700. All were much noisier. Each was returned. This players noise was tolerable and as the movies progresses the disk noise diminishes significantly. I'd give it 5 if the 4k was silent. If it were a bluray only player Id give it 5 (thought a bit pricey).

This 4k ultra hd blu-ray player works great playing movies, it shows a great picture on tv using an hdmi cable also.

This DVD player has exceptional sound and of course Video capability. One of the few players I have been able to send some basic control commands over HDMI from my Amp/Receiver that has a Phone App Controller which greatly simplifies life. Dolby Atmos is amazing if you have the ability to connect those speakers to your Amp/Receiver. Unfortunately we are moving to streaming most content now where the audio flatly sucks in most cases.

Over the past 15-20 years I have purchased many DVD, Blu-ray and UHD players, most of them Sony, one Magnavox and two Samsung. The Sony players never disappoint me and this one is no exception. Our old model for the master bedroom would no longer store our Wi-Fi and streaming accounts information, so I purchased this on sale in advance as a replacement the next time I had to reprogram everything for the umpteenth time. Bingo - works like a charm!

As best as I can tell this BluRay player is the same as the UBP-UX800 only for a lot cheaper. I bought it when it was the deal of the day for $169. I also have a UBP-UX800 and they look and perform exactly the same. Solid (heavy) full component width DVD player!

Amazing pic quality. Don't believe that 4k streaming is the same. Nothing beats 4k disks for your 4k TV.

Initially it was freezing up and shutting off constantly while streaming. Well what I figured out was my Denon AVR was set for 4K upscale and so was this player. Turned off 4K upscale on player and I haven’t had an issue since. Great picture and sound when playing 4K USD Atmos discs.
