This is the 4K HD version of the Sony Blu-Ray player. I have the older S6700 model which only "upscales" Blu-Rays to near 4K video quality. I like this model because it can stream wirelessly but you have a very limited array of apps. Pretty much limited to Hulu, Amazon, Netflix and YouTube. If you want more options, you may need to look at a Roku. Otherwise the player does have a separate Digital coax out and a separate HDMI cable out just for audio. My only complaint is that it's missing an optical audio out which I could use. Otherwise its a great player.

Sony comes through again for us. Intuitive with a quick response time. Great all around quality, with all the features we will ever need. The number of A/V playback formats is more than respectable, it includes SACD. We are very happy with this purchase. The Sony UBP-X700/M Blue Ray player is quite impressive at its price point, since we are on a budget over here that is always appreciated! Thank you Best Buy and Sony

Bought an open box x700, but it works great. Blu ray and dvd movies play great on this unit. Faster than my old player. No issues. Love it. Do not need the apps, they just muddy up the startup screen. My only gripe.

The Sony Blu-Ray Player was highly rated and after buying it, I knew why. It works well and provides me a way to watch and listen to DVDs and CDs. It was easy to set up with my TV and does stream 4K.

Had to replace a Sony bdp s6700. The 4K is incredible on this ubp-x700! Easy to hook up. The sound is awesome. The x-700 is a must buy!

Great 4K Blu-ray player. Good picture/sound. Haven’t noticed any noise while playing, and no skipping either. Only downside is that to play Dolby Vision, you have to manually switch in the options/settings. Not a deal-breaker for me, but it is clunky (this was added as an update after the fact), but for the price this is still a solid overall package. Plus it’s the only one that checks most of those boxes while still being smaller, as other competing players have a larger footprint, which may affect where you can place it on your entertainment stand.

Upgraded to a Atmos-capable soundbar, so I needed to upgrade to trusty old blurry player to a 4k to get the most out of the soundbar. This was an easy choice since the old bluray was a Sony as well. Easy switch. Great video and sound quality. Easy to use. There are costlier machines with other features...but this one works just fine.

I bought this player over Black Friday for $100 off thinking it was a great deal. And to be fair, in many ways it is. Alas, the old saying “you get what you pay for” seems mildly relevant here. This player gets a lot right, when it’s working the way it’s supposed to. It’s visuals and sound are great, and it’s super easy to use. Unfortunately, the problems this player struggles with, namely the freezing issue that has plagued this model since the beginning, offset all of its good features. At first, the fact that it would just freeze completely in the middle of a movie was something of a joke. “It’s not a bug, it’s a feature”, just Sony giving me a set intermission in most of my movies. However, the humor ran dry pretty quickly and the fact that it required a full reset before being able to continue the movie I was watching became too much of an inconvenience. If Sony can figure out how to rectify this problem, then this player may someday be a great choice for those who don’t want an expensive 4K player. At this point in time, however, this player will be headed back to the store and I’ll be looking someplace other than Sony for my 4K UHD needs.

Paired with LG OLED tv,plying old movies from 2006 the pictue quality and sound are beyond my expectations.very happy with my purchase, easy to set up and once plugged in pairs to the LG magic remote

A solid performer all around. Connects easily to my receiver and the performance has been flawless. They are pretty cheap these days, so I would pick one up-it's super for any 4K disks and does an amazing job with blue rays disks as well.

Excellent Ultra 4K DVD player. I have a Sonos ArcUltra with two ERA 300 speakers. Dolby ATMOS movies are insanely great sounding, couldn't ask for better

I purchased this Sony blu-ray player because my Panasonic Blue-Ray player door would not open one day it just quit working. So I bought this Sony Blu-ray player. So far so good. Easy to set up and good picture.

I was looking for an home surround system; however, they have gone back to the separate components. This player was recommended by the sales person. I am very happy with the quality for an inexpensive player

I have the Sony - UBP-X800M2 - Streaming 4K Ultra HD Hi-Res Audio Wi-Fi Built-In Blu-Ray Player for my family room. BUT I bought the UBP-X700 for the basement exercise area. Not rich, all cement down there; Super impressed. I can now use my entire DVD collection with upscaling, Blu rays, and 4K. The workout area has an older LED TV, and everything works great. I will never have time to look at my older video collection, so I picked this to watch when I work out, and look at some old favorites. If this is your first 4K you will love it, and the streaming is top notch. I use it with Nvidia and that works very well.

Buy it. Picture is great. Easy to set up. Small size which fits easily.

I want to start by saying that shipping was incredibly quick; just in time for Christmas. The quality of the player was amazing! I watched blu-ray discs that I had watched on my old blu-ray player, and the difference was clear. I was able to see details that I never could on the last player. I also bought 4k discs which were a whole new experience. I know most TVs these days are smart, but one thing I noticed was that this player also has apps such as Netflix installed.

Was excited to get this after seeing it at the top of the lists on forums. I knew about manually toggling Dolby Vision and was ok with that. I have a 65" LG C1 and I wanted it mainly for Dolby Vision, as the Series X doesn't support it for physical Blu-ray discs. I played a brand new disc, Fury Road, and the colors are blown out and oversaturated. Flames lacked any details, just a bright orange mess. You can adjust the picture settings, but it shouldn't be this bad out of the box. After 25 minutes, it froze up and had to be unplugged. Unacceptable. I've never had a $50 dvd player do that and my game cosoles haven't, either. What a waste of time. Returned. I'll wait until a good player is priced less than a modern gaming console.

The picture on this compact player is simply amazing, I've only played 4k discs on it so far. Colors are rich, and the sound is simply fantastic. Have a receiver for surround sound. It's running through the TV to the Receiver (Both Sony's). Highly recommend this player. I'm not streaming anything on it so can't review that part of the product. But the player itself is, no issues, No freezing up, just clear picture and great sound.

Great DVD player. I liked it so much this is the 2nd one I’ve purchased. It plays DVDs Blue Ray & multiple regions of DVDs which is great because I have numerous British DVDs. I like the remote & was able to program the volume to my Samsung TV. I did a lot of research & this one is ranked as one of the best in this price range. I’m extremely satisfied. The picture quality is GREAT. I love it & would definitely recommend it to my friends & family

Works fantastic with my older Vizio TV. Good visual clarity on 4k, upscaling Blu-Ray looks fantastic, and sound comes through great. Setup was very easy.
