Sony 4K HD player show great quality on your tv. Easy to operate. Crystal clear. Easy to setup and didn’t need to download updates

Bought Sony before trust there reliability and quality. Nice looking and working 4K Player good sound and picture quality loads quickly with Blu-Rays. Pretty big compared to models before measuring 16" long. Something i noticed like Sony players before it won't decode Dolby Digital Plus from an .mkv file or any other video file still shows unsupported audio. Updates never seem to fix this particular issue otherwise player works great for all other audio on files.

Been searching around for a good DVD/CD player and this one does it all. The feature's of the Sony beat them all hands down. The slow motion and fast forward was stable with no flutter. The sound quality playing CD's was crystal clear with no back ground noise. Yes it was a few dollars more than some of the other brands but in the long run you can't go wrong. Well worth the money!

Five stars! This is the 2nd time I bought one of these, because the SACD sounds great through this, so I needed it in two rooms. I definitely like this, and the music and sound come through so clearly! Can't go wrong on this.

Very good build quality, works great and easy to use

To be honest im not sure whats going on i had the lg 90 and almost every movie even new ones would freeze appropriately a known issue with the lg. I buy this sony i like it has weight feels well made but i intermittent get a freeze at the beginning but to sonys defense its alot less and if it freezes it will play though it and not lock up like the lg. Next step the panasonic

After purchasing a new 4K Dolby Vision Tv, I decided to get a 4K player, but I have a Oppo BDP 103 player and with my new TV, the picture looks awesome, so I am keeping the Oppo to watch regular Blu Rays, but unfortunately, I could not afford the Panasonic 820,this was one was on sale for $200.00, and after watching some 4K movies, I am very satisfied. the picture looks great. Only a minor inconvenience, you have to manually switch to Dolby Vision. It is built very solid, very quiet and load times are fast, a very solid player.

I like this product so much, i bought it twice. It is clean looking, it has no unnecessary features, good picture, it's worth the price.

This is the first bluray player I have ever had. It works good and the picture quality is amazing. The 4k looks great!!

Amazing with paired with a matching TV. Returned the Samsung products and was sold on this Blu-ray and got the Sony x950g. Best decision ever!

I owned a 4K player before this one. It was also highly rated. This one is far better. The colors are rich and bright, there are far fewer motion artifacts when watching an upscaled movie. The sound is bright and clear. Separation of dialogue is better by far. I thought that had nothing to do with the player, I was wrong. I highly recommend this unit if you want top value in a mid-price range ultra Blu-ray player.

I had the previous version, UBP-X700 and in my opinion it is better than than the X800M2. The 700 is narrower, lighter and roughly the same height and depth. The 700 has a customizable dashboard, meaning you choose the apps you want to see. It has 10 or more apps to choose from. The 800 feels like it would be superior in quality since its metal and heavy but I didn't notice any difference in the processing power. The 800 only comes with 3 apps and you can't add any more. If I am paying $300 (with service plan) for a Blu-ray player I want to have more than 3 apps. Any $30-$50 Blu-ray player can play discs, to me it felt like I was paying the other $250+ for 3 apps. I'm sure there were hardware upgrades but they weren't noticeable to me. I have returned the Blu-ray player and upgraded my TV. I had a 50" plasma (can't beat it for action/sports) but it had no smart capabilities. All the apps I needed were on the new tv (LG OLED65CXPUA - highly recommend it, if you are in need of a new one), I'll go buy a cheap Blu-ray player in case I ever want to watch something on Blu-ray/DVD.

As someone from Asia, I have always been a Sony brand loyalist, so when I decided to sell my Xbox One S and get a real 4K UHD blu-ray player, Sony was my first choice. At the time, I set my budget between $300 and $400, and wanted a player that can support Dolby Vision, which made this Sony player the only one in range. Well, let's talk about Dolby Vision. Yes, it does support it, BUT this player has yet to know how to turn it on automatically. For example, if you leave the Dolby Vision setting on, it will play SDR content in Dolby Vision whether you like it or not. Therefore, if you want to play a regular blu-ray disc, you will have to go back to the settings, and turn Dolby Vision off. Annoying, right? Within the first week of use, it showed another 2 weaknesses. I'm proud of my blu-ray collections, and I take good care of my discs, so I was initially shocked by the fact that quite a few of my 4K UHD blu-ray discs would skip or even freeze during playback; same thing happened today when I was playing the new 4K UHD release of Mulholland Drive by Criterion Collection! Then, I realized there wasn't anything wrong with the discs: the player simply has a hard time switching between information layers when reading a 4K UHD blu-ray disc, which normally has multiple layers. Granted, my Xbox One S used to have the same issue with some discs as well, but it happened way more frequently on this player, which ironically is after all a dedicated 4K UHD player. The last problem I have with this player should be a software problem, and could be the only problem that I may not be able to blame it on the player alone. My setup for the player is to have it connected to my Sony sound bar, and the sound bar is connected to the TV. I don't know how exactly to cause the issue to happen, but sometimes the player would just stop sending sound signal to the sound bar between playbacks of different discs. The only way to fix it so far is either for me to unplug everything for more than 10 minutes, and then put everything back together, or to connect the player to the TV directly, and depend on eArc to send the sound signal to the sound bar. (It almost seems like the issue is caused by miscommunications among softwares of the TV, the sound bar, and the player.) I didn't like the latter setup because my TV can't do eArc well enough, and I can hear dropouts here and there. Therefore, if you're a home theater enthusiast like me, then this player really isn't a great choice.

The player is great and comes with Dolby vision which the previous model did not. Easy set up with a Sony 4K tv. Awesome player for the money.

Well built player. Runs cool and quiet. Dual hdmi to connect to tv and audio system separately.

Replaced earlier model that refused remote commands. Easy setup and paring to universal remote. Great picture with ease of use.

This unit was a replacement for a previous Sony UBP-X800 DVD Player. This unit has a much easier functionality compared to the previous model. This model is ready to run a DVD as soon as it powers up. The previous model you had to wait for it to cycle through seeing if there was a DVD. The previous model died after 2 years. I purchased the 4 year buyer protection on this unit. Hopefully i will not need it, but if it dies it will be Best Buys problem.

The picture is good on this player but it locks up about 15 minutes into every movie, blue ray or 4K. The only way to get it back is to unplug it. I have the UBP-X800M also and it did the same thing but not as bad. Also no sound when trying to watch YouTube. I should have taken it back but I have had it for about two months and Best Buy may not take it back. I don’t know if Sony knows this is going on or if they care. Sony support is not that good when contacting them about other problems I’ve had.
