Once you press the ULT button, it takes it to another level. No specific orientation required to get the best experience, You can keep it either horizontally or keep it vertical as well.

This fit me way better than the wonderboom.

This unit lets you adjust three EQ frequencies where is the Wonder room didn't let me adjust any. Booming base is not my main thing so if it's yours wonder room it's for you. I think this is a much better unit and I am happy I returned and exchanged the Wonderboom for with sony.
