Excellent sound quality and worth the price if you can afford it it can be a bit heavy at times and I'm glad that they added the carrying strap with this model and the Bluetooth range is amazing I can walk across an entire factory warehouse building with my phone and it continues to play no matter where I am in the facility so if you're looking for a strong connection this definitely blew my expectations out of the water

It has very good bass and a good volume level; for its size, it sounds surprisingly loud, and the sound quality is great. I really like the fact that you can place it in any position you want, and the battery life is incredible.

I recently purchase this speaker in black. I’m an avid Bluetooth speaker nut and I have quite the collection for diffrent uses when traveling on the road as a touring musician. I have all the heavy hitters from JBl, Bose, and soundcore and I recently picked up the Sony ULT 7 on a limited time special deal for a price I couldn’t pass up. I enjoyed the ULT 7 so much so I had to grab the other speakers in the lineup including the Soly ULT 1 as well as the ULT 3. I was missing the ULT as my local beat buy was out of stock until this last week. I saw the recent price drop of over 80 dollars so I had to add this new Sony tech to the collection. Put it this way, I enjoyed the ULT 5 so much that I bought a second one to run in stereo. This new Sony lineup is a huge upgrade if you are coming from the Sony xb 43 or the xg300 like I did! My view of the Sony line is that they have all of the bases covered from large parties down to the occasional hotel room/lounge speaker. Each speaker delivers for its use case and the Sony ULT 5 is no acception. Each speaker has its weird quirks at lower volume, the ULT 7 and the ULt 1 tend to be a bit bass heavy at up to 40%, the ULT 3 and 5 go in the opposite direction and they sound more muddled in the mids and highs at lower volumes and the bass doesn’t really hit you until you pass that 40% mark. The ULT 3 losses a majority of its hard hitting bass at around 65% [much like the ULT 7 and the ULT 1) but the auLT 5 kicks into full overdrive throughout the full range up until 90%. Beware as this speaker can get really loud and it really sounds it’s best at over 50% so I would highly suggest the ULT3 if you listen at more casual volumes. The ULT 5 will Likely too loud when you have the ULT mode 2 engaged for medium to small rooms/apartments. Punchy low end without sounding muddy and the vocals and high end come through fantastic as you start pushes the volume up button. My take on the sound signature is the ULt 5 is clearer defined low end and less fatiguing on the ears in comparison to my former road workhorse, the JBl extreme 3. Side note, the ULT 5 will not rival its larger competition like the ULT 7 or the JBl boombox (still an old favorite of mine), but it’s an absolute beast in a medium to large room and performs quite well outdoors for medium gatherings at the park or on the beach. Looks are typically irrelevant, however I enjoy the non “football” look in comparison to my larger JBL speakers. Lighting looks great on my white model but the darker color on my black version really seems to not illuminate as well. So if lighting is a selling point, pick the white version. The strap feels premium and it’s a welcomed feature as this speaker is a bit too large to grip in one hand when carrying multiple items. Cloth on the speaker seems to repel marks and scuffs well so far (I’ve bumped into a few things and door frames when trying to carry to much) Reason for the 4 stars? Sony’s apps are not nearly as polished and the Fiesta app (for dj and party light controls) refuses to work on my IPhone. Constantly booting up into a black screen even after restarting and uninstalling the app and reinstalling. Feels like you are missing out on some extra features as you are not able to access everything this speaker can do on the Sony connect app. Sony connect app works okay but sometimes won’t connect to your speaker if you don’t close and reopen the app. Custom EQ is also kinda worthless as you can’t get quite the sound clarity and pressure when using any custom eq’s no matter how you tweak the settings (custom EQ disables all ULT modes which significantly improve the speakers output in the full range. All in all, I can highly recommend every speaker in the Sony lineup and even more so when they go on sale. MSRP is a bit high so I would personally wait on a sale of some sorts for any of their current lineup.

Solid performer and a great buy when it’s on sale. Avoid paying full price as your experience might be construed a bit. For the 250 range this speaker hits hard and carries an excellent sound up to around 80% where the DSP limits the bass response a bit. Major positive is you don’t experience distortion and it gets really loud outdoors. Just know the speaker has its limits. Solid performer against the job extreme 4 and to my ears max volume sounds better. Ult option 2 boosts highs and lows so you might enjoy ULT option 1 more if you are craving deeper bass. Major downside is that even with a custom eq, you can’t adjust the speaker to sound any better than either of these modes so I find myself just using either Ult option. Battery life is great and I enjoy the lighting and fairly flat sound profile. Great speaker outdoors and will serve you well for indoor parties if you place near a wall to help out the low end. Two units provides an amazing stereo sound and I highly recommend if you wallet allows it.

Sound quality is incredible. Surprisingly powerful for its sized. The sound fills the room effortlessly. Love the design and the lights add an extra special touch. It's small enough to carry with you anywhere you go. To the park or a friend's bbq. Love it.

Speaker is amazing, I mainly use it for work and just to get through the day. Never really used it for parties but it is more than capable of having enough coverage for a small gathering of friends and family. If you wanna get something for bigger parties, I would go with the ult field 7 or higher. One bonus with Sony speakers if you a link multiple Sony speakers together and have it in stereo mode and they don’t even have to be the same model!! As for some down sides, if you’re looking for heavy bass, this is not the speaker u want. It’s got come kick to it but if you’re looking for heavy thumps, get a bigger speaker. Another downside is the speaker sounds best in ULT 2 mode and of course it drains the battery life. You ca get 20 hours but you’d have to take it off ULT mode entirely and turn off the lights and keep the volume low. Conclusion, I definitely recommend this speaker for a good jam while cleaning or small gathering or even work. It definitely gets very loud and you can’t go wrong with Sony. Just keep it plugged in and you won’t have any issues with dying battery! With that being said, I would snag this speaker on a deal if you could wait. $350 is a lot to ask for but you’re getting Sony reliability and performance. I got mine for around $200 on a sale and I am completely satisfied

Amazing speaker. Ive owned plenty of JBL speakers since the first flip came out. But Sony really nailed this one. I get better battery life and better sound quality compared to the Xtreme 3. The light show is something I never thought would make a speaker look more appealing. Very satisfied.

PRETTY LOUD EASY TO CARRY AROUND AND LOVE THE LOOK. BATTERY IS LONG LASTING

The true might of a speaker isn't whether it fills a room, but whether it can broadly bathe a pool deck or outdoor patio with a depth of sound - and when the Field 5 is kept in the ULT1 and ULT2 Bass Boost modes, this speaker absolutely does it. The sound is exceptional, the end-cap bass woofers move the air, the highs and mids shine through, and the sheer (unexpected) weight of the unit means kids aren't going to knock it over or kick it into the pool. House, rock, pop, R&B - this speaker handles it all with ease without even having to go into the Sony app and messing with EQ settings. To me, "loud" isn't a measure of speaker performance, but a benefit if the core performance is there - the onboard amp performs great with little distortion and yes, the Field 5 is more than loud outdoors. The speaker is so heavy, and the width makes it hard to grab and handle, so while buyers may not think the included strap is necessary, it actually is and makes transporting the speaker a lot easier. I was going to buy the water "resistant" Marshall Killburn II (after owning two Marshall Stanmore's which are 10/10 amazing), but the water "proof" feature on the Field 5 was more important in my case. Overall, it's definitely worth the $267 (with tax).

Great speaker. Sounds good I can still hear it while I've been remodeling my house in all the rooms and I don't have the volume maxed because out it gets very loud. I like the strap that comes with it makes carrying it easier cause it does have some good weight to it. It was on sale for black Friday and wife and I wanted a nice bluetooth speaker for the beach and chilling outside

I was blown away with the sound of the Sony ult field 5 speaker, and the bass its fenomenal. Now I bring this speaker whatever place I go on vacation. Its a little heavy, but the strap makes it easy to carry.

The speaker is very nice very durable sounds very nice and some what loud I paired up with my Iphone I use it in my Fed Ex delivery truck music on all day long Thanks

Sound quality is clear and precise. Volume is suitable for a medium size room. Style is very classy for a living room or bedroom.

Absolutely inlove with this speaker. It last forever and I am in love with the sound and the ability of taking it with me. It’s not too big or too small. Just perfect size.
