As a casual home karaoke enthusiast, I hadn’t really invested a lot in fancy wireless microphones. (Old set required AA batteries and a separate receiver unit and are not as portable) – These are so much better!
The wireless microphones come in a set of two mics and one small receiver that is wireless and plugs right into a regular microphone jack. All use USB-C for charging. They have a good weight and heft to them, but are not heavy. They are comfortable to hold and feel like a high quality microphone and not a cheap toy.
Setup is super simple – just plug in the receiver and hold down the power button for about 3 seconds and a white light will flash until it finds the microphones. The mic powers on with a 1 second touch. Both will glow a white light when paired. That’s literally it. You now have a microphone that will play through your system’s speakers. I have an speaker that is designed for karaoke, so I have the ability to adjust pitch using that machine. The mics do not have any controls on them like volume, reverb or other sound effects. No software to load or app to mess with (which is nice) - They are just straight up mics. That said they do have 1 feature called Dual Assist where they self level the singing/sound of both mics when 2 people are singing which is cool so 1 singer isn’t overpowered by the other. They have good noise canceling (breathing, “S sounds”, wind etc.) - I could see these being handy for an outdoor presentation, outdoor singer, announcer at a 5k race day, etc.
According to specs they sport up to 20 hours of battery life, but also have a cool quick charge feature where if they are dead –just a 10 min charge gets you 2 hours of use . Super handy if you haven’t used them or charged them in a while and have a sudden party urge to sing.
They sound great (certainly for great for an amateur karaoke singer). They also have plenty of range – I got 2 rooms and about 50’ away before they had any drop off.
They also sport a silicone damper to help reduce/prevent damage if you “drop the mic”, but haven’t tested that first hand. - Likely that will happen at a future party, so that could be a great feature.
These are "Winnerrrrs!" written with a singing voice :-)

So my family really enjoys Karaoke. These mics do the trick. This is great for all ages and various levels of music.
Great to use for entertaining friends and family when there are gatherings.
Setup was super easy. Plugged it in to charge the receiver and the 2 mics. Plugged into my Sony Ult speaker. Turned them on and was up and running... Automatic sync and connection between mic and receiver. No problems with them connecting with one another.
Overall weight of mic is decent. I little heavy but not too bad. Range is good. Did it get interference with walking around and moving. Mics did not cut out. Duet mode not uses with stepping on each other. Both mics belted out just fine.
Volume control was good at the speaker. Did not get reverberation.
Battery is good so far. 1 charge and we are still running strong 3 days of about 1.5 hours of use each day.
Clarity and sound are good. The speaker can control echo and all that.
Overall appearance is nice. Black and matt finish.
I would recommend this product for what it is meant for. Good job Sony.

I have been in the market for some wireless microphones that have great sound quality and distance from my main speaker. I was excited to try out these ULT from Sony and so glad I did. Right off the bat the mics felt like they were made in great quality materials and had no issue on setup. The setup itself was extremely easy, just plug the Sony dongle into a speaker and turn it on. It makes this easily the best way to have mobile mics on the go with a travel speaker. The charging of USB C is fast and holds a charge for a very long time. I was also impressed with the distance it has from the dongle, there are times I have to travel with a mic and glad I do not have to worry about the distance of the speaker. The sound quality was very impressive being able to isolate your voice and not the surrounding noises. The only issue was the QR code would not work, it goes to a dead link but thankfully the setup was easy so no need to try and figure out via instructions. Overall this is a great product and I strongly recommend this for anyone who needs wireless mics with good distance and great sound quality !

I’ve always loved karaoke, so when I saw the Sony ULT MIC wireless microphone set, I figured it was time to upgrade my setup. It's part of Sony’s new ULT POWER SOUND series, which has been great for portability and power. I already own one of their speakers, so this looked like a perfect match. After testing it during a weekend of singing with family and friends, I got a pretty good feel for what this mic gets right and where it might need improvement.
Design & Build
The design is simple but solid. The mics have a clean matte black finish and a nice weight of about half a pound. They don’t feel bulky and are comfortable to hold, even during long karaoke sessions. Each microphone is roughly 9 inches tall, and the build feels premium without being too flashy. One nice addition is that the internal parts are protected by a built-in silicone damper, so if someone drops the mic during a party (it happened once already), it won’t ruin it. These feel like they’re made to last.
The receiver is small and light, about 3 ounces, and just under 5 inches long. It plugs into any mic input and connects automatically. You don’t need to bother with pairing or complex settings, which is a breath of fresh air. It charges via USB-C, which is nice because it's compatible with a bunch of other chargers I already had around.
*Features & Specs*
The ULT MIC comes with two wireless microphones and a plug-and-play receiver, designed to be used with any speaker that has a mic input. I have an inexpensive speaker and a premium speaker and it sounded great in both. It should work with most karaoke systems and party speakers. A few key features really stood out:
Voice Focus: The mics are tuned to focus on your voice, helping it sound brighter and more natural. Even with a group singing or some background noise, our vocals still came through clearly.
Noise Reduction: I noticed this while singing outside. The mic does a good job of filtering out things like wind noise and breathing or even pops. You still want to sing into the mic, but it helps keep things sounding smooth.
Duet Assist: This is one of my favorite features. When both mics are being used, it automatically balances the volume between them. No one gets drowned out or overpowers the other. It’s perfect for karaoke duets. My wife and I sounded great together, but most importantly, we didn't have any mic issues while singing close together.
Battery Life: The built-in rechargeable batteries gave me around 15 to 20 hours of use, which lasted through a whole weekend of on-and-off karaoke. Even better, a 10-minute quick charge gives you up to 2 hours of singing. Charging is done through a USB-A to USB-C cable.
Wireless Connection: The system operates on a 2.4 GHz so it’s stable and doesn’t suffer from the interference that cheaper wireless mics sometimes do. It worked great in my living room, kitchen, and even when I stepped into another room down the hallway.
*Performance*
Voices came through clearly, with no speaker crackle or lag. I didn’t notice any connectivity issues even when I moved around a lot, which is great for get-togethers, BBQs, or parties. There’s no fancy reverb or echo built in, but you get a clean, reliable vocal sound that works perfectly for karaoke, announcements, or similar settings. I did notice that my wife and I had to sing closely to the microphone to get the best results.
If you’re looking for a simple to setup, great-sounding karaoke, Sony ULT MIC is the choice. It’s perfect for home karaoke nights, parties, or any casual event. It’s not packed with high-end vocal effects or Bluetooth, but what it does offer is durability, clarity, strong wireless range, and an easy setup.
And if you already own a Sony ULT POWER SOUND speaker, this mic is basically a must-have. It just works, and it sounds great.
*Pros*
Natural clear sound pickup
Duet Assist balances volume between singers
20-hour battery life with fast USB-C charging
Works seamlessly with ULT POWER SOUND speakers
Durable build with drop protection
Clean setup no pairing required
*Needs Improvement*
No Bluetooth or volume control
No built-in reverb or effects
Doesn’t include a carry case

Having discovered, not too long ago, the fun that Karaoke brings to friends and family gatherings, we had already invested in a set of wireless microphones, rated high at a well-known online site, which we thought were amongst the best, until the Sony ULT MIC pair of wireless microphones made its debut and kicked the competition out of the court. We’ve been using the Sony ULT MIC ever since, as we’ve been very pleased with how they perform. The voice comes out crisp and clear (very clear), and even when positioned far away the receiver, we still can get an amazing sound. It is quite an upgrade from what we had before.
It is recommended to be matched with the ULT POWER SOUND Series speakers, but we are using it with our Sony SRS-XV500 Wireless Party Speaker, and it’s been delightful, they seem to be perfect matches.
There are a few minor issues (annoying to a perfectionist) that would keep the device from giving it a perfect rating. I’d say that this is more like a 4.5-star product, but only 4- or 5-star ratings are available, definitely it is not a 4, so I’m giving it 5 stars.
- Pros: sound quality, easy setup, great connection.
- Cons: no battery charge level indicator.
>> Setup
This is plug and play wireless mic system. First, make sure the microphones are charged (or charge them for some time). Then connect the receiver to the speaker (and plug the USB power cord to the speaker). Next, simply turn on the receiver and the microphones, and the microphones will connect seamlessly to the receiver, that easy, and you’ll be ready to rock! There is no need to manually select channels, etc., the setup effort is minimal.
>> Duet performance
As advertised, the Sony ULT MIC pair does a great job when performing as a duet. Duets are something we frequently do in our karaoke sessions with friends, as it is always more fun to sing a song with multiples voices. We were impressed by how balanced the volume felt. Especially when a male and female were singing, the male voice didn’t opaque the female one.
>> Battery
It is said that the Sony ULT MIC microphones last about 20 hours, I haven’t verified that, because I had to recharge the microphones from time to time, as it is not easy to determine how much charge is left in the microphones. This really annoys me; it is somehow a guessing game to figure out how much power is left. I’d have expected a visual led indicator at the very least, to have more visibility into when to charge the microphones before they run out of juice.
In addition, another negative aspect is that there is no indication that the Microphone is fully charged. Well, the Amber light at the bottom is on when charging, and as far as I could tell, will remain Amber, until the battery is fully charged (if the battery is fully charged, it takes about a mionute for. I was expecting a green light to show up when car fully charged.
>> Background noise and hissing
This is one of my favorite aspects of these microphones; they connect to the receiver and, unless you shake or place them close to the speakers, the background/hissing noise is practically imperceptible. One of my friends also noticed how imperceptible the noise was, when we were comparing this pair of microphones to the other set of microphones we had before (which we realized had too much background/hissing noise).

The best way to describe these Sony microphones is "Fun!"
The product does everything it says it is supposed to do.
I found it to be truly "plug and play." I first had to charge both the two microphones and the receiver using a standard USB-C charger. Then I plugged the receiver into the 1/4" (6.3mm) microphone jack of my speaker and they two microphones connected to the receiver, and I could start talking and singing right through the speaker.
I found the battery life to be very good. I did not test the full 20-hour claim, but I don't know how many times I would be using it for more than 20 hours straight.
They have a very sturdy feel. They appear to have excellent construction. Sony claims you can drop the mic without any damage. I was hesitant to fully test this feature, so I dropped them onto my gym floor, the kind with 1'4" hard foam padding. The did just fine, showing no signs of impact or damage. I think they would survive hitting a harder surface, but I'll wait for a real party before trying that.
My voice was plenty clear, and the sound quality is what you would expect from Sony - excellent.
The interesting feature is what Sony calls "Duel Assist." This feature is supposed to balance the volume between the two microphones so that one does not overpower the other. I tried it out with the other person screaming into their microphone and I found that it actually does balance the volumes of the two microphones. I personally like this feature, while I can understand that other people may want the ability to overpower the other singer.
I was also surprised to find that I could not create any feedback, regardless of how close I got the two microphones. This is really helpful as feedback is one of the most annoying aspects of managing audio during a presentation or show.
Overall, this is an excellent product and a necessity for anyone who performs or speaks in public on a regular basis, or even just for some occasional fun for the kids (regardless of age).

Amazing new mics by Sony! Was looking for a set of mics for our Karaoke parties but could never find good ones at a good price. These are a gift from the tech gods!
To start with, they are very well built and sturdy and feel great on the hands. They have built in batteries that according to Sony should last about 20 hours with a full charge. I charged them fully the first time with the included USB cable. I have not have to charge them yet, they are still going after a couple of karaoke nights, so don't know much the battery may last in real life, but so far they have not disappointed me. Using them was just plug and play, I plugged the receiver which has a typical fat jack for sound systems and the mics paired up automatically, no fuzz, and we got the karaoke party started. The sounds is super clear and their best feature hands down is their called "duet assist", that automatically balances the volume of each even when you have two people singing close by. I had my nephew and niece getting started and I was amazed there was no crosstalk or any of that annoying feedback sound you get with cheap mics, wow!!! We could hear the people singing clearly even when singing together. Now my nephew and niece are asking me when are we having a another party! They seem super sturdy and feel great, my niece dropped hers accidentally and it was like nothing happened, they are super durable so I know now I can bring them to parties without getting worried about them!!
If you are looking for a pair of great quality, wireless mics that offer great vocal clarity and no feedback/crosstalk, these are the ones for you; your karaoke party will be a great success!!

I think the star of the microphone is the fact that it's 2 microphones into 1 input and it's CLEAR!
The concern when you have microphones that are wireless is the quality; concerned if the sound would be tinny, if there's going to be interference/static, will there be washed out tones, delays, etc. Let me just get that out of the way because I know that's the first concern... it is AMAZING. Easily matches USB mainstream microphones, rivals condensor usb/xlr microphones. So just set that concern aside.
Just holding the mic feels perfect. It's not heavy, but feels solid and well built. It's not a flimsy/plastic microphone. Its listed as 0.5lb but I don't think it's heavier than any other quality microphone out there. This is important because I generally am using this in a small room with performers holding the microphone, not on a stand or table arm, for my use case.
Installation is as touted, literally plug and play like most microphones. I was concerned if balancing the two microphones would need additional set up , or have any conflict, but literally charged the receiver, plugged it in and turned on both mics. Detected both mics no problem.
The microphone is listed as 50-15000hz pick up, enough to capture clear crisp vocals. I didn't go back and do any technical testing, but for my use case the reproduction is perfect... again rivaling wired mics. It's also listed as a "shotgun" microphone, meaning it picks up in a globe-like pattern. I was concerned it would pick up alot of background noise or even noise from the second performer/microphone, but it works! Background/feed back was minimal. Works as advertised, it has something built into dampen or noise reduction tech so background is minimal / second performer didn't have feedback. In fact, I believe there's a feature where it adjusts to each other and balances the tone and volume so each performer stands out clear and crisp. Amazing.
I didn't do any serious recording, but I did plug things in just to see what the latency would look like. My XLR standard without the fancy passthrough features is about 22ms in total, there didn't seem any difference and if there was my performers didn't notice any latency.
I have alot of equipment around my set up, didn't seem to interfere with clarity or latency at all, very happy about that.
Because they are wireless, the performance / crispness of the microphone does get affected depending on your set up and distance to the receiver. Mines was about 35? feet before we started noticing irregularities, but 35? feet is unusual and we don't usually stand that far anyway. It was still very clear, I don't think to the untrained ear would notice anyway, but that's as far as I would bring it away from the receiver. The reproduction of the audio is unbelievably faithful fore wireless microphones, I'm really impressed.
I think this is overkill for most people, but for what you get, and two solid microphones, that's wireless, is a very compelling package overall. This would be my go to for almost everyone in my family.

Are you often asked to do presentations in front of a crowd? Do you do briefings and meetings with an audience that requires to hear your every word? Or are you simply looking for a microphone to do some karaoke? Well, you're in luck as Sony has just revealed a new wireless microphone, the ULT, and it can handle all that and then some.
The first thing you'll notice when unboxing is the nice weight to the microphones. They only sport an on/off button and they can be charged using the USB-C connector in the bottom. The other device is the receiver which plugs into a 6.35 mm (mono) microphone input and sends the audio signal from the microphone to the output speaker or whatever device you have to put out the sound. I have tried it with a big bluetooth speaker I usually employ for my safety presentations and I was delighted by the quality that came out of these mics. My son had a go with them, too, for a school project and he loved the noise canceling and the long charge these microphones can hold.
As it seems, Sony designed the ULT microphones to be portable, as both the mics and the receiver contain long lasting batteries that can be charged quickly using the included USB-C to USB-A cable. Another very positive aspect is the ease of connection: plug the receiver in and switch it on, turn the mics on and get cracking. Simple as that! Thanks to the noise cancellation technology used by Sony, the sound is clean, clear and crisp. Since my singing voice is rather... weak (to put it lightly), I did try to use the mic to do some ear-crushing karaoke and the result - my "performance" aside - was really good. I couldn't hear any strong distortions or any feedback loop, which would have been a huge deal-breaker. Frankly, this is probably one of the best mics I've ever owned.
Would I recommend the Sony ULT microphones? In short, yes. Be it the portability, great sound and great overall quality, I can say that these will do more than just get the job done. The price is also very reasonable for what you get. Great work, Sony!

I am a lead vocalist of a local band. So I am very particular about my microphones. I use single $300 dollar XLR microphones because I want to hear every “t” and “p” from my lips. As a singer though, I know how to regulate my voice— but most mic users just scream at the mic. This microphone is not a professional one by all means, BUT it is the CLEANEST, CONSISTENT and MOST UNINTERRUPTED microphone I have ever used.
Setup is so easy. I did not even need to read the manual. The receiver has a power button that automatically pairs to both mics once the microphones are turned on. The receiver also has the perfect size that is does not block any dials or other sockets. It is almost like having the usual XLR wire thickness without the wires. The connection from the receiver to the mics are instant and very stable.
The mics are very nice to hold. They are built well. You know they are not cheap and they have the perfect amount of weight to lift and swing around.
Now, for the real deal, let me get this out of the way: the microphone is soft. Even at high volume, I cannot crank it up from the source. I still need to exert a lot of effort, to project my voice to get the best sound. This one is the compromise. However, this is a consumer microphone. This is perfect for any person who just loves to casual karaoke, or needs a dependable mic to deliver their speech.
At decent volume, it is clear. Output is very smooth. However I try to change my voice, the transitions, be it words, to singing, to whatever the next phrase is, is regulated. The volume does not differ from the next, even if I suddenly change what I throw onto it. It’s like it is massaging each in and out to seamlessly stitch one phrase after the other. This makes the volume very consistent. It does sacrifice the crispiness of the output, but does have a smoothness that is very soothing. This also makes outputs from two simultaneous inputs to the mic blend so well. For the first time in my amateur living room singing career, the duet singers CANNOT overpower the other. It’s like some automatic mixing that meshes each singer to well with the other. This microphone is a drunk karaoke party’s dream.
This also leads to the output being so static-free. There is also hardly any feedback, rings or back pops even at high reverb. The connectivity is reliable and the volume between microphones are steady. I can switch using one mic to the other without even hearing the difference. For some reason, the mic knows how to take away annoying cracks and bangs. So it makes the whole experience with the microphone so clean.
This I think is the perfect microphone for any regular joe to have. In concerts and big events, we have sound engineers to make sure no one breaks their eardrums from all sound thrown onto the mic. No one sound engineers a birthday party, or a townhall speech and this mic is perfect for those. I am sure, there will never be a better version of drunk Bohemian Rhapsody coming from these microphones. I love it.

The Sony ULT Power Sound is Sony’s latest offering for wireless mics. It is a fairly simple two-mic system designed for multiple uses. SO first let’s see what’s inside the box. Inside the outer box you’ll find two wireless mics, a receiver, a USB-C charging cable, a warranty information guide and what barely passes on as a user guide. The latter should not be a worry as operation seems to be pretty simple enough.
First is to charge everything in the box. Obviously, you can use any USB-C cable so that that you can charge all three devices at the same time. If you have none, charging needless to say would be one device at a time. But charging does not seem to take too long so that should not be a problem. Unfortunately, there is nothing in the current literature as to how long the internal batteries would last. And this unit is too new for me to really test the duration of the battery. So, it goes without saying it would be good practice to fully charge the devices prior to extended use.
Using the mics are fairly straightforward. First, your speaker should be equipped with a 1/4” mic socket. If not, the use of a 1/4” to 1/8” is recommended but not included in the box. Pressing the power buttons of the receiver and two mics automatically connects them with one another as they are already paired. And I would assume that these devices use some sort of RF frequencies rather than Bluetooth.
Now, what about the quality of the mics? The range or distance I have tested the mics away from my speaker is around 30 feet which is acceptable as this is Bluetooth range and for for the most part, even further than the length of ordinary wireless mics. Feedback is fairly minimal when the mics are placed near my speaker. There is however and issue with the sound quality. First, sound seems to be muffled. But this may also be a factor of the speaker quality itself. So your mileage may vary from here. The second issue is the volume of the mics themselves. It seems that the volume of the mics are rather weak. The speaker I used it with has a separate volume control for mics but still the mics sound to be a bit muted. It seems there is no some sort of pre-amp in the receiver. And while this may be sufficient for speeches, it does not do well when it comes to Karaoke time. The music seems to overcome the mic volume in spite of being it raised. And it seems this mic system is designed for Karaoke as a two mic system can do good with duets in a Karaoke. Strangely enough, tapping the mics seem to provide good volume but when speaking (or even singing) sound seems to be muted.
Now I understand this is a new product, but hopefully Sony can fix this issue by issuing out a firmware update if possible. But for the meantime, I’ll stick with other mic sytems.

For the price, the sound is excellent. It doesn't have the depth for singing, but would be adequate for speaking. For the amateur singer, they may not notice. We love the portability, but had some difficulty in getting the right settings when hooking into our sound system.

Need it for out door use and its works perfectly with my soundboks speaker. There is some interference when moving to close to the speaker but easily avoidable. The good thing about the speaker is that the mics picks everything up with is not so good when handling the mic. But if you are able to turn the gain down its and awesome companion with your soundboks 4 mobile set up!

These microphones worked great for what I needed them for. The sound is very crisp and when connected one doesn’t over power the other. They’re not heavy at all but also not cheaply made. Great quality.

Bought these to MC a retirement ceremony. They were very quick to set up and add to my speaker. Plug and Play super simple to use. I Hit the on button & sync button and it was ready to use. The only thing I wish was a little bit better was the sound noise reduction quality . I thought maybe just a little bit better filter, and I would be giving 5 stars. I wouldn't call it professional grade but it definitely isn't a toy either. It would be a little bit better value at $100 versus the $150 i paid.

I really enjoy these microphones. They have great quality sound easy to install and work with the sound effects is just great. I definitely would recommend this to my friends and family. Thanks.
