    Missing ground

I bought this turntable to replace my 30 year old turntable and to digitize my vinyl. As a turntable it works well when connected to the "line out" jacks. When connected to my amp with the phono cables there is a bad hum. Sony support says to connect the separate ground wire to eliminate the hum but this model has no ground wire or any place to connect one. I gave up on Sony's on line support. I would prefer to use the phono jack and not have to use one of my aux inputs on my amp. The software included is easy to use and will clean up some pops, clicks, and scratches but not all. Overall I am happy with the turntable except for the hum. Eliminating the ground wire is unforgivable. I would not recommed this turntable anyone who would expect to connect it to the phono jack on their AV system

I love the idea of getting all my vinyl off to MP3

If you have records that you want to be made into MP3's, this product will do the job. Warning though, I found the first album I ripped didn't start and end properly. I have since just ripped a whole side now into one large MP3 file. This was not what I expected and is not as good as getting it broken up into individual songs so beware! I would recommend it but with the caveat you need to be prepared for a full side in a single MP3 file. If I hadn't of gotten the deal I did, I would have probably did some more shopping around for another alternative. For me, it was all about getting the really old stuff that I have brought into the digital age and some of my stuff was next to impossible to find because they either weren't popular or no one carrys it in MP3 or CD anymore.

    Great for my needs

This is an excellent turntable for what I need. I just want to transfer some of my lps over to mp3 and this one does it well. I looked around the internet and there were many USB turntables out there that were cheaper, some by almost half. But when reading the reviews, I was unsure if one of those units would even work when it arrived. I found this one at Best Buy and while it's a little pricey, the quality is there as well as my peace of mind. I knew I could take it back to the store if I had problems.....but no need. It works great. The software is pretty easy to learn. You just have to sit down and take time to learn it. If you just want to play and/or transfer lps to your computer or to CDs, you will be happy with this Sony.

I bought this record player simply to play the vinyl I collect, and because I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars more on something else. It was very simple to set up, it sounds and works great. The only two things that are a minor inconvenience is that the cord is a little short, and a needle replacement was a little hard to find, but I found one. If you are looking for one, you can find one on LPGear.com. It's about 30 bucks, so it's kind of spendy. Just don't be stupid like me and hit the play button by accident so it plays all night and wears down the needle lol. So overall, this product is great and I would recommend it to anyone just looking to listen to some vinyl.

    Awesome Vinyl Player

This vinyl player is an awesome player for vinyls. It is a little complicated to put it together at first, but once it's put together, its easy to use. And it does connect to the computer, for recording, playback, and other stuff as well. But when you connect it to the computer, you'll have to adjust your computer's audio settings. In the manual, when it says to have the volume set to "2", that is not the case. It needs to be set to "100" so that you can hear the audio playing on the computer. The software the vinyl player comes with is very awesome. It is an audio editing software, allowing you to do all kinds of stuff, including recording your vinyls onto the computer. The software itself is like $100 - $150, so you'll save money by buying this vinyl player. It does let you save to files to either a another disc, or onto the computer, in ".WAV" or ".MP3" formats only.

I was shopping locally for a turntable because I did not want to order one online and have to wait for it to arrive. I found this one at a local best buy and picked it up. It requires some assembly, but that is very simple. It functions quite well, and the sound is really good. What I find bad about this turntable is I feel like I now need to upgrade to a better one. I find that several records skip when they don't have significant scratches. Maybe the tone arm assembly is too small or too light. I'm not sure. This isn't an issue with all my records, but I do wonder if a better turntable would solve that problem. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this to someone who looking at an entry level turntable. I love listening to music on it. But I will soon be looking to upgrade.

Overall, I'm very happy with this turntable. I had been using an old Califone for years and finally made the decision to upgrade. I bought this one partly because it's one of the most reasonably priced vinyl players on the market that also allows transfer of vinyl to MP3 format. The one thing I will say, though, is that transferring music from vinyl to MP3 takes patience - you'll need to splice your own music into the individual tracks and then label the songs / albums. This means that transferring a single album takes some time - first with letting the whole record play through and record and secondly accurately saving your track list (unless you're okay with having just 'side a' and 'side b' as the two tracks for every cd). The music does sound great, though, both on vinyl and the MP3 transfer when it's completed.

I had to replace an old turntable that I could no longer find parts for. I went in with intentions of buying the basic Audio Technica turntable because it looks a lot cooler than this one, but it was out of stock and this one was on sale. It’s a great basic turntable. It’s belt-driven, which to me is a must for longevity. It’s not much to look at which is kind of a bummer, it’s very basic black, but it works great and the price was right. One note to remember is that it has the line/phono switch in the back so if your receiver or speakers don’t have a dedicated phono jack, you have to switch over to line or you won’t be able to hear anything. Overall, I’m very happy with this turntable.

This was an impulse buy after I had returned an Audio Technica AT-LP60USB to Amazon as it arrived severely damaged. Unfortunately, this turntable was not the answer either. First, the platter wobbled (which is not good for the stylus or the vinyl). Second, the arm weighting was off (it played sufficiently on the new, heavier, more deeply grooved 180g records, but it often "flitted" across older LPs) and there is no way to adjust it (other than taping a quarter to the head, which is a little nutty for a new turntable). Finally, and worst of all, at the 33 1/3 setting, it actually played at 34 rpm (45 was fine, however). I am just glad that I got it at Best Buy which gave me a no-hassle return. So I would avoid this machine unless you plan to use it as a starter turntable for an older child.

I needed to replace an old turntable and wanted on that had RCA out puts on it, as well as the USB. The first salesperson didn't have a clue and said no RCA. Went home and did my own homework and found it it had both RCA and USB. Got an open box in perfect condition. Noted there were quite a few of them. The problem was easy to rectify..... READ THE MANUAL! I think a lot of them were returned because you have to set up the drive belt before using the turntable. I did as the manual said and in no time everything worked great. Great if you still have a lot of vinyl that you want to digitize. Came with software, but I haven't used it yet.

    VERY NICE BASIC TURNTABLE

This Sony "Actually made by Audio Technica" is a great basic turntable. It has both types of hookups (RCA Cables & USB) . And with the build in Pre-Amp , you can hook it up to a PC, Home Stereo Receiver or anything with a PHONO, AUX, LINE IN or other such Inputs. To start with it has an Audio Technica cartridge & stylus so it's going to have a great sound. The nice belt drive & aluminum platter keeps a nice constant accurate speed. NO, This is not a High End turntable for true Audiophile type vinyl collectors. But for someone who still loves vinyl and wanting to keep it basic and simple at a nice price "This is for you" .... And have no fear because of this not actually being made by Sony, Audio Technica is a company and has made this very same turntable for many other brands such as JVC, DENON, PIONEER, AIWA & Others...... "Long Live Vinyl"

The Sony USB output turntable allowed me to convert many of my vinyl records to digital format. It has a basic belt drive mechanism and has a satisfactory phono cartridge (but not swappable). I'm happy with its performance. However, I was careless in not noting that the turntable came with a Windows-only version of digitizing software and a comparison with Amazon showed that the software effectively doubled the price of the combination. My bad but it left a sour taste in my mouth about the purchase. I will certainly be more careful about these software/hardware combos in the future. I wound up purchasing an additional Mac based digitizing software which allowed the conversion of the analog signal to computer files.

I have a lot of records that I could not listen to because I did not have a player. I built another shelf for my records to sit on below my tv. I chose the Sony brand because I have always had good luck with it. I’ve been trying to learn to use the new option to download the music to my computer. I’m not good at this sort of stuff. I downloaded the software to my computer and recorded a album but then couldn’t find it in the computer.. oh well I like the turntable

This turntable is much what I expected for 99bucks. I did read in the reviews that this was belt driven. I should have read more reviews because I found out that the "belt" is more like a rubber band. Have no idea if all belt drive turntables are like this. The software you receive is way more complicated that the average person needs to download a record to your computer, but it does work. The other thing I learned is that the software reads one side of the record as track one, and the flip side as track two. I found that if I paused the download after each song for a second or two that the software would then make individual tracks. Lots of work. This why I only gave it 3 stars. Average at most!

    Get a Preamp

If you have a newer home theater receiver that does not have phono inputs, you are able to connect the turntable through your CD inputs. It has an optional built-in amp for this purpose - you just move the switch on the back from phono to "line in". UNFORTUNATELY, the sound was gutless. I was able to crank up my receiver to the max and was still not loud enough. I purchased a preamp with an adjustable gain, ran the turntable through it and bypassed the internal amp. WOW. AMAZING SOUND. So deep, rich, great highs and lows. And it really knocks the walls down. The only way to play Who's Next or Exile on Main Street.

I purchased this turntable for another room in my house. I have an old thorns turntable in another room. I have been through a few turntables and pre amps over the years with poor results. reason, hooking a turntable to an amp without phono input. Which I have done here, simply flip switch to input on the turntable and plug into back off your amp. The thorns turntable it is competeing with is a $900.00 turntable and stylis. I am amazed at the playback quality of this turntable, ease of use, no poping or skiping. I have not recorded with this turntable, mostly interested in playback quality. For the price, go buy it now! A+

This Sony turntable is not a high-end model but delivers nice features. It is fully automatic with the press of one button. It has the option of being used as a standard phonograph connected to a stereo system or if you want to transfer your vinyl to your computer, to burn a disc it is equipped with a USB connection and includes the software. I tested the USB capability and burned a standard CD audio disc and an MP3 disc with no problems at all. Pretty easy.. The original price was $130 and is now $80, a savings of $50. If you can find an open-box item it can be purchased for $59. It is only a $20 difference so if you cannot find an open-box item, you are still getting it for a good price. Again, not a top-of-the-line turntable, but it does perform adequately for every-day listening and recording.

I am fairly new to listening and collecting vinyl. The first turntable I bought was a Crosley Cruiser. Looks nice but the sound quality was awful. I made a step up and bought this Sony turntable a few days ago. The difference is like day and night. It sounds so much better because there is a built in pre-amp and an overall better stylus and mechanisms. It will allow you to transfer music onto your PC and PC ONLY computer. The downside is that it does not come with the software for MACs. Unfortunate but the majority of the LPs I bought I already have them on some type of digital form already. Overall, I really am loving it.

    A Fantastic Record Player!!!!!!!

In late May, I got this right after my High School Graduation Ceremony because people gave me money. I didn't go out and get one of those $1,000 DJ Turntables. I wanted a basic home stereo record player by a popular named brand, so I grabbed a Sony record player. I opened it right out of the box and it took 20 seconds to hook up. I like 70's and 80's Rock and Heavy Metal, so the first record I put in was "Rock And Roll Over" by KISS. It sounded fantastic. Why do people buy $1,000 turntables for? Im surprised this doesn't cost more. If your looking for a very good, basic record player, get this one! You won't be sorry.

I have been moving a record collection all over the US and the World since I was a teenager. I've not had a turntable since the 1990s. I decided to either get rid of the vinyl or get a turntable. I got the turntable. This turntable outperforms any I had "back in the day". It's built in amplifier makes connecting it to receiver a 2 wire job vs having to attach a ground wire to the receiver as well. The fact that you can hook this up to a computer via a USB and save your album to a digital file is awesome. I love the ease of set up. the ease of use, and the quality of sound.
