    Affordable and Simple

This turntable is very easy to set up and use out of the box. The controls are also very simple - almost "kickback" in a way - nothing fancy about them, but if all you want to do is playback your old vinyls, then this is a fine turntable. The dust cover is removable if you have a space problem. I have not tried the software that came with it (yet) because I am just using this with my old-school component stereo receiver, for now. But it does have a USB cable to connect to a computer, although I think that might be just for recording tracks from the turntable to your computer (not necessarily for listening through your computer). Great price-point, too. Thanks BB and Sony!

Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase. Hardware-wise this thing is great. Software-wise is adequate. It works for the most part, but of the vinyl albums I've ripped so far, every one, execept a 12 inch single required a lot of manual work to make into MP3's. Many times it does not catch the breaks between songs which leads to a lot of manual editing to get all the tracks. The software is not hard to use but the interface takes some getting used to. Once you learn it, it really isn't a problem. So far I've ripped about 12 LPs to MP3 and have been very happy with the results. If you don't mind a little bit of non-obvious learning curve, this product works just fine. Audio results (ripped MP3s from vinyl) are actually much better than I expected.

    Good Hardware - Bad Software

Good as Expected Hardware - not surprising from Sony Bad Software - didn't expect that from Sony. I thought they were better than that. The turntable does what you would expect, turns the record at a regulated rate, or as regulated as I can detect. The case and buttons have a cheap and plastic sound and feel. They are plastic, but some things feel more plastic(y) than others. The HUGE disappointment was the software. It only comes with an LE PC version, nothing for MAC users. So I pulled the old PC laptop out of the closet, loaded the software, and well it's cheap too. You can "buy" better PC software, and the MAC version of the software, however, it is just as pricy than better options at full retail. Buy it for the turntable, and just plan to be disappointed by the software and throw the disc away.

It was easy to install. The function buttons could be marked better. Overall it seemed cheaply made, but that's expected at this price point. The concern with the one I purchased is the turntable speed is off- alot. At first I thought I had it set wrong, switched to 45, and realised I had it set right. Even at 33 Pink Floyd sounded like it was sung by the chipmonks. I'm returning and think I'll start looking at higher end. I see alot of good reviews and I'm sure I just received a bad one. Sony is typically a quality product- It is the only TV brand I'll buy, but really disappointed with this turntable.

After missing the true sound of a vynyl record for at least 30 years or so I decided to get back into the game again and purchased this Sony tt for about a hundred bucks at Best Buy... Now let me just say I am very satisfied with the performance of this little machine and it is money well spent... I mean I have had some notable turn tables in the past such as Gerard and Technics and this little baby sounds just as good !! About the only minor con I may see with this machine is that it seems to be a little light in weight but it hasn’t really made much of a difference in the performance.

I am still in the lloooonnnnnggggggg process of converting my albums, but keep plugging away, the turntable works flawlessly and and the software is really good for the most part. it's a bit flakey in that you have to watch that it is really recording. Once the album is done, you need to separate each song and save it separately if you want it that way. It makes live albums difficult, to say the least, and really adds to the time required for each album. That said, the editing capabilities are great! I have been able to successfully remove skips (as long as they're repeats. Definitely a good purchase.

Got it as an open box item. No issue at all. This is my first turntable. And I love it. Maybe someday i will get something more expensive with fancier set up, but this will do for now. My only grip about this is that the software only come for PC. Maybe it's because Sony can't come to an agreement with Apple for an approved software. But I read somewhere online that there is a way to record this with Apple computer. I will have to do more research. Anyway, for a beginner like me, this is a good enough player. The sound of the needle dropping in the beginning of the vinyl, however, is quite loud. And if you like me, who likes to crank up the volume, you will definitely hear it.

I got this item for Christmas to play some old vinyls my dad gave me and some new ones I had purchased. The player was very easy to set up. I haven't had any experience with the burning software (have most of my vinyl records as mp3s already anyway). I'm playing the system through an auxillary input on an Onkyo TX SR505 with a powered subwoofer. Motown records sound great on this! An earlier poster mentioned having trouble with feedback at high volume levels. So far I have only had distortion problems on one vinyl (Metallica's Death Magnetic). If you're looking for a nice record player to play some older vinyls, this is definitely a great buy.

Phonograph is great - Conversion Software Terrible

The phonograph plays vinyl's very well - great sound. However, the software that converts vinyl to digital was easy to load. However, the plus quickly turned negative. The software is not user friendly, does an extremely poor job to identify tracks/breaks between songs, requires a lot of manual intervention to separate tracks. After working with the software for 30 days I have never been able to get a complete track for a single song. I bought the turntable to specifically transfer vinyl to digital. If I knew it was going to be so much work and time intensive I would not have bought the product. I should have returned the product to BEST BUY. Since it was a Sony product I thought it would be good. I was wrong!

This is a great turntable. I am very happy that I purchased it. It was easy to connect to my Sony receiver. It includes an USB output. I would absolutely recommend this product. There are a few cons, for me: 1) it doesn't have an insert. I was hoping to be able to listen to all my records, but now I have to hunt down an insert. This is really the first record player I've ever owned that has not had one included. 2) I wish it had a small light on the front or on the needle, or even better, both. It's not always easy to see the buttons, and black turntable and black vinyl can make it a little hard to see when you want to make song changes. 3) The cables come attached in the back and are extremely short.

I replaced my old turntable with this Sony. My old turntable had to have a preamp to hear sound thru my modern receiver without a phono input, and bass was muddy. This has line out switch so it works with new and old sound systems. The operation is simple with push button start and stop. Sound is great, and it matches with my other equipment. I only by Sony av equipment because it works well together and there is no other brand that offers a TV, receiver, turntable, DVD player , and game console, all with the same manufacturer. I have had great support from Sony and can find almost any manuals on line. If you want good stuff that works buy sony

I wanted to replace my turntable and when I saw this one that not only connected to my stereo system but also could connect directly to my computer I knew it was what I wanted. The reviews were good so I ordered it. It's great to be able to listen to my old vinyl again and also to transfer to my computer so I can make CD copies. The cable provided was too short to reach from the turntable to my computer so I had to order a longer one. The provided software doesn't seem to be compatible with Windows 10 but I have another program on my computer anyway. Other people interested may want to keep that in mind.

It works, I can play my vinyl and record it via USB but it isn't what I hoped for. The software supplied with it is very simple to use and does a reasonable but not superior job or removing pops and clicks. To get good sound though I had to order a pre-amplifier so I could use the RCA output. Sound through USB is poor, and that's running it into an excellent digital sound card and out through a very high quality speaker set. For the price it should have had more features and been able to play through the supplied RCA cords, which are hardwired and very short by the way, without a pre-amplifier

    (I used to) Love Sony

Sony was my only. I swore by it, never needed to research a product. But in the last few years I've noticed Sony products not lasting forever like they used to. I bought this model turntable. Used it less than 100 hrs. when I noticed that 33 1/3 is more like 33.5. That's right, it runs fast! I can't transfer my vinyl if the turntable speed is wrong. Of course, this started to happen right after the warranty expired. There is no way to adjust the speed either. I may have to start buying other products. Sorry, Sony, I'll miss you.

I bought this on an impulse while i was returning a phono preamplifier, of which i used to play my old Techinics turntable through my new stereo reciever which did not have phono input, and the quality of the preamp was horrible, so I seen this and began to read features to waste some time, and i thought maybe it was time for an upgrade. I brought it home and was really impressed with sound quality, It truly made Frampton Comes Alive, well come alive :P I havent tried USB recording out yet, its mainly a replacement player to bring the LP's back to life without having an age old reciever.

I wanted to give this 5 stars because of the way that it delivers vs its price, but I realized that that wouldn't be fair to higher-end models that truly deserve 5 stars. Still, I was kind of shocked that this sounds as good as it does. So far I've played only two LPs, so this is an out-of-the-box assessment. But it's got a very clean and warm sound. It also seems less susceptible to footsteps etc than my cherished JVC turntable from 1981 :) No problems whatsoever with skating or anything like that. It's true that the RCA cable is comically short, but it fit my setup just fine, fortunately. Wicked plastic/chemical odor when the lid is open, hopefully that will dissipate quickly.

    Reliable Turntable, Complex Software

    Posted
    analoganimal

PS-LX-300-USB. Had it for a year and a half now. Works every time, that's a Sony for you. The software is comprehensive and once you get used to it you'll find many other features besides what you need just to digitize records. The "track finder" is unreliable on less than perfect vinyl, and once you record, restore and enhance your music you then have to put all the album/artist info in for each song in 'files' so media player can find them. I've used it on about 25 albums now and had the hang of it after 2 or 3. Good value, better if you're not expecting it to be 'fully automatic'

    Needs Receiver/Speakers

    Posted
    CMSD

I purchased this for my daughter's birthday, not knowing that it wouldn't be usable without a stereo receiver and speakers. I read the description carefully as I've never purchased a turntable prior, and was impressed with the fact that she could convert vinyl to MP3, but there was no mention of the fact that it wouldn't work without the accessories. When she discovered it wouldn't work for her, I ordered a different item (an all-in-one model) and tried to return the Sony. Best Buy wouldn't take it back...past the 15 day return period. I'm furious about this and will NEVER do business with this company again. Now I have to try to sell this on eBay and most likely will end up taking a loss. Very dissatisfied customer!

For something in this price range the turntable is not bad. I bought it to put my old vinyl records on my computer but have since realized this would be a long task not worth the effort. I use it just for listening to my records again. It has pretty good sound quality and with the built in preamp you can use it with a receiver with just regular aux inputs. I will say it is fairly light and the stylus arm is pretty crude and moves quick and jerky when going to the record surface. This sloppy action is where they have cut corners and you will find far smoother ones out there for a bit more money. I will likely move up to a better turntable later.
