    RCA Audio Cable too Short

I haven't been able to use the turntable yet because the RCA audio cables that come with the unit are too short (24 inches) and do not detach. Unless your turntable is placed on top of your receiver, you can't plug the unit into the receiver. If your receiver has ventilation slots on the top, then you have to place your turntable elsewhere. Because of the limitation, you have to buy an RCA female-to-male extension cable.

Great for playing vinyl's. One little drawback is, that it only has RCA connectors, while most portable speakers have the AUX plug

I purchased this for my wife as a Christmas gift after searching for several weeks for the best entry level turntable. I would buy again but I am disappointed that it only has RCA. I was hoping that it would have 3.5mm analog so I could use it with our existing speakers.

Appears to be a good basic unit. Only deducted a star due to the audio out cables being hardwired and short. They are ok if you set the turntable on top a receiver amp, but if your powered speakers or receiver are more than two feet away, the cables are too short so you have to use an additional cable as an extension as well as a set of RCA female-female adapters.

Received this turntable as a Christmas gift. Assembly was straightforward and after connecting to my receiver has a very good sound. The turntable has traditional and computer connectivity. My only issue was the length of the RCA connections which were short.

Unit was packaged well and all parts were accounted for. This record player doesn't have a power on/off button. The rca cables are not detachable thus unupgradable.

I bought this turntable to listen to some old albums I found in my aunt's basement. They're all from the 70's or early and sound like new. My only problem with it is that the RCA audio cable is really short and you can't replace it with a longer cable.

Sounds great, easy to hook up. Great price. Only issue I had is the rca cables are short. But hey you can get the cables at Best Buy.

I wanted a turntable that gave me quality sound production and it does just that. My only problem is that the speaker output cables are RCA, and I have nice speakers with a subwoofer that don't use RCA connection anymore. I purchased a female-to-female RCA-3.5mm converter and it allows me to connect the player to speakers with an aux cable. It works great for me.

The RCA cables are short and you will need some type of extension to make it to your PC. I plugged the RCA cables into my stereo and I was unable to hear any sound. I also used a converter to go into the microphone input in my computer and still no sound. I took it back to Best Buy and had the Geek Squad test it and they were unable to get any sound either. Probably just a defect so a returned it.

I bought this turntable in-store and I'm very pleased with it so far. Compact, sturdy design. Very easy to operate. Some minor assembly is required (out of the box, you'll need to loop the drive belt around the pulley, set the platter in place, etc) but it's fairly straightforward and instructions are provided. I hooked this up to an older Kenwood receiver and speakers and the sound is great, especially considering the price point. My only (minor) complaint is that the RCA cable is pretty short, I was just barely able to connect everything through my shelving unit... but I'm sure extension are available, so don't let that be a deterrent.

Great turntable when you have proper expectations!

Great turntable when you have proper expectations! After some time with the Sony turn table I'm convinced that many of the negative reviews this turntable gets are the result of either improper expectations or issues with the included software for ripping MP3s. Addressing the later first, the included software isn't great and has some issues with 64bit operating systems. I don't use it, you can use any audio program you want including Audacity that is available completely free. On that note the USB function of this TT works great. You just have to select the Turntable as your source when you're doing your recordings. Alternatively since the TT has an included Pre-Amp you can run line-in right to the sound card and not have to worry about USB or driver issues. But this is a turntable and ultimately I bought it to listen to vinyl records. I'm very happy with it's performance here. It's important to understand that for 129.00 you're not getting a pro-level turntable but it's far and above the cheapo options out there. The cartridge isn't changeable, but the stylus is. It's fully automatic and supports 33 1/3 or 45RPMs. Sorry no 78s but I don't have 78s so I'm not counting that as a downside because I had that expectation going in. It's fully automatic so you pop your record on press a mechanical button and it queues its self to the beginning of the record. It will also stop and return the tone arm on its own at the end of the record. You can manual queue using the UP/DOWN button as well. The sound is solid for my rig a decent but not super high end Denon with Yamaha tower speakers. You do have to place the platter (Aluminum) and set the drive belt when assembling for the first time but it's made super easy. The mat is rubber and not felt like some higher end systems. The construction is plastic not metal but I don't have a problem with its appearance. Is this a pro/dj level TT? Absolutely not and I hope you're not looking in the 130.00 range for such an item. If you want to upgrade your cartridge, scratch vinyl at parties or tweak you anti-skate and tracking force this isn't for you. I'd suggest starting at minimum with the Audio-Technical LP-120 and going up from there. If you want something at a low price to listen to vinyl with a good sound that can connect via USB, phono inputs OR line-level RCA inputs this is it. The RCA cable is hard wired and a little short but pick up an extension and your' fine. A great value! A note on "hum" a have seen a few reviews complaining of hum. This TT is sensitive to being placed close to your speakers/sub and will pass some of that back. Like any TT placement and leveling is important. Also, it will pickup noise if the volume is high and the cover open/off. Not an issue with the cover closed for what it's worth.

    Excellent Entry Level Turntable

I recently picked up this turntable at my local Best Buy, and I was extremely happy with my purchase before I even walked out the door. The cashier rang it up and after sales tax and everything it was about $140 -- and I began to hesitate. The cashier asked why and I explained I had seen it online for a LOT cheaper. She asked me where, I told her on Amazon's website. . and she immediately had a manager come over and look it up and they matched the price for me. They did this all on their own as I not only didn't force the issue or even ask, but I didn't even know they did that in the first place. So I was incredibly thankful that they took the time to save me what would end up being about $40. I got it home, opened the box. Item was packed well. The consumer is responsible for putting the belt and plate on but it was very, very easy and I had the thing together in less than 2 minutes. Brought it to the living room, plugged in my Bose Companion II speakers with the RCA output cord built into the turntable. Put on a 12" LP and was immediately happy. If you don't have a separate pre-amp -- no worries, the built in pre-amp is perfectly capable of filling up a room. I would certainly suggest at least decent speakers. You can plug these into 2.1 computer speakers, but if you're going cheap with those, you won't be fully utilizing the sound quality this turntable is pushing out. The Bose speakers I mentioned earlier are at least 3 or 4 years old and I swear by them. Best $100 you could spend at an electronics store. I use them with my TV, Computer, and now my Sony Turntable. My only complaints; The software to make mp3's from your records is for Windows only. . and I use a Mac. It's still possible to perform the task but if you're a Mac user the included software is only useful as a beer coaster. The turntable is pretty much all plastic. . and therefore feels somewhat fragile. Other than that, my only other complaint is the hardwired RCA output -- it works perfectly fine but the cord is extremely short. . so unless you plan on having your setup be very compact. . you'll need to grab an RCA extension cord. If you're just getting into turntables, or need to replace your old one without breaking the bank -- this offering from Sony should be on your shopping list.
