I was looking for the best in class noise cancelling that all the reviewers have been RAVING about and amazing, secure ear fit. Pros: The sound cancelling is fine. It's not bad. The audio quality (I used LDAC codec on my Samsung Galaxy phone) was very good, one of the better sounding earbuds I have heard and a bit better than the Pixel Buds Pro2 or the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro that I have. The options, once connected to the app, were great, with the ability to change most things about the earbuds and the ability to alter the equalizer to your best sounding audio option, which I enjoyed. Cons: The noise cancelling was not any better than the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro (and I know people will hate on this but it's true). The Pixel Buds Pro 2 were the worst for ANC, but the best for fit, which I use them for, weightlifting and running. The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro had sound quality near to the Sony's, though not as good, but I couldn't tell the difference on a recent plane trip. In fact, the Sony's let slightly more engine whine through. So the ANC is "fine" but not world class. The Sony app sucks. Plain and simple. It hated connecting to the buds unless you opened the case and REMOVED the buds from the case. Maybe this can be changed in the future, but holding the buds in your hands so it would update them is dumb. The fit was not great and both of the other earbuds fit much more securely. Yes, I used all the eartips to get the best fit/seal and used the app to test this. Everyone's ear is different but I have never had trouble with any earbud. These felt like they would fall out easily and didn't really stay in during a weight lifting session. I had to keep pushing them in, though the Galaxy buds also had that issue. The connection via Bluetooth worked well outside of their app. The main result is that they are nothing special and seriously don't justify the $330 price tag. The Apple Airpods Pro 3 are the best one for Apple users and the Galaxy Buds or Pixel buds work perfectly well for Android users. I can't find a great reason to suggest these. It honestly felt like a big letdown and I was excited to get these, purely for noise cancelling. Skip them, would be my review. Meh.

Having the ability to create custom sound profiles is a great feature. ANC works exceptionally well on these. They drown out 99% of all outside noise when I have these on. My only concern initially was the ear tips. They take some time to get useful and can be a bit painful if you have smaller ears like myself. Over time though I felt like they fit better and don’t feel the same discomfort.

I use my earbuds every day as I love listening to music, but I decided to wait patiently until these came out and it was worth it! The sound is amazing. I wasn't sure how Sony was going to top the previous model, but they did. Well done!

The noise quality and the noise cancelling has improved tremendously from the previous model. The earbuds have good comfort and don't slip out of your ears especially whenyou're exercising. When the Sony 1000XM6 came out I did lots of research on them to see how they compared with the AIrPods. I wasn’t existed about the XM6 price which held me back in buying them. When Best buy had them for $30 off and I had another $30 off in gift cards I couldn’t resist buying them. The XM6 sounds better than the AirPod 3 and I like the Sony app and equalizer. I’m using the XM6 for listening to music at work on my iPhone and the AirPod for going between zoom. calls on my iPhone and MacBook pro. I enjoy listening to music and the sound quality is just a lot better with the Sony XM6. It would be any easier conversion if Sony had the price closer to $250, but they do seem worth buying.

However, the fit for me personally isnt the best. My ears have never done good with foam eartips and these aren’t any different. Other than that, the best earbuds i have had.

Detailed, colorful textures across the frequency range. Competing models have their merits but these sound superb in every way. Only complaint is that even with the large ear tips they do not feel secure in the ear.

We really value your honesty regarding the fit, and we want to make sure they stay exactly where they belong while you're listening.
To help get that secure feel, we recommend gently "rolling" or compressing the foam tips between your fingers before inserting them, then holding them in place for about 10 seconds to let the material expand and grip your ear canal.

My "3rd" Generation of Sony WF Earbuds

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the MX4 for 2 years and, according to the Sony Sound Connect app, I racked up 1446 hrs 51 mins of listening before one the batteries started to fail. By that time, the MX5 had been released, which I also had for about 2 years racking up 2411 hrs 16 mins of listening. I'm hoping the MX6s last just as long as the MX5s. The only real pet peeve I have with these are lack of EOM ear tips. Sony used to sell them, but stopped for whatever reason. The Chinese knockoff ones on Amazon or whatever just aren't the same. Also, I love keeping my earbud charging case in a holder with a latch to keep it closed, so far I can't find any that don't have a delivery window of Mid-April.

Great buds but….

The XM6 buds have that great sound and excellent ANC however they are less comfortable to wear IMO. I have tried several different tips but I still have trouble wearing them for extended periods. Also. The app for the 6s is slightly different with regard to EQ. I like the EQ adjustments available in the app for the 5s. Both use the same app but the EQ changes based on which bud you are using. The 6s have great sound and really excellent ANC but I think I enjoy using the 5s more due to comfort. The tips on both take getting used to too. You might want to look into different tips.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I liked them, but honestly there isn’t a whole lot of upgrade from the previous version, and I’d say that they are sort of a downgrade in practicality since the new charging case is way bigger than the previous one and bigger than other earbuds out there, also I was expecting Sony to finally add a tracking function like the AirPods but it’s lacking that too… and honestly for the price you can get yourself the AirPods Pro 3 and get more features while saving money, plus the sound quality is like 5 to 10% better than the AirPods Pro 3, not worth the price. I’d still recommend this if you’re an android user but if not then go with the pros 3

Extraordinary sonic experience

I also own a pair of Apple AirPod pros 3. Least to say, the new Sony WF XM6’s blow the airpod pros 3 out of the water sound quality wise. The richness and depth the xm6’s manage to capture in most of the songs in my playilist is simply unmatched. I also think the xm6’s earbuds, although a bit “bulbier” thanks to the redesign, are lighter and comfier than the previous xm5s (and boast a slightly wider soundstage by comparison). Overall, it’s a purchase I’m glad I made and would again (and will probably be looking to hawk off my airpods pro 3 soon..)
