I've always been very open minded when it comes to bluetooth headphones - for years I've been in the camp that if you REALLY want the acoustic quality, then you go with wired headphones. And If you want them to have faithful sound reproduction stick with Sony. Since I've started working out a lot more on the indoor bike trainer, wireless is pretty much the safest and most flexible option, so I assumed I would be back into the average-quality sound you get from the mainstream bluetooth headphones. As a long standing Sony audiophile of many year, I can confirm that these are the best sounding bluetooth headphones I've had. They obviously not as immersive as my WH1000MX3, but for sheer convenience and portability these are now my go-to units. The WFXB700 are marketed as 'true wireless' (i.e. no cord joining the earpieces), which I had never really considered something I needed until I put them in my ears. They look a little 'funky' when it comes to the twist of the earpiece (see the photos) but they sit surprising well in your ear - no matter how much you move about. The charging case is a usb-c rechargable battery, but with 9hrs on a full charge I havent had to resort to it yet. In all honesty the case is probably just the best and safest way to store them - its an added bonus that it recharges them too. I received these are part of a technical evaluation program , but the comments, photos and review here are all mine.

I’ve been a very big Sony fan for a long time. I’ve bought TVs, numerous headphones, sound bar, docks. They sound nice but I would not pay full price. When on sale they are worth it. They aren’t as loud as I would like. The right ear bud disconnects randomly from the left. Sometimes people can’t hear me. Other times they pick up a lot of back ground noise when on the phone using them. They are quite clunky, and stick out. They do the job for sound and bass and are wireless. So if you aren’t serious about your audio and just want something to work out with, then these are good. They have good battery life, can get annoying when you just want to listen to the right ear bud. No you cannot listen to just one. The left one always needs to be turned on. Good value if you aren’t paying full price.

      Hi TXBlueLine92,

Thank you for the feedback on your experience with your WFXB700. We regret to hear you're having low sound level and Bluetooth disconnecting issues with the unit. This is usually not the case for our headphones nor the experience we want you to have. Good to know that you like the sound and bass of the unit. Allow us to help and turn this into a pleasant experience.

If there's no sound or sound only from one side of the earbud headphones, place the earbud headphones in the charging case and close the lid. After the lid is closed, wait a few seconds, then remove them and make a Bluetooth connection to the desired device. For more information, check here: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wf-xb700/articles/00204551?cpint=spt-mdr_triage_00204483_sound

If you feel that there is insufficient low frequency sound and a difference in volume between the left and right sides, change the earbuds to another size to comfortably and snugly fit your left and right ears.

For low sound level, turn up the volume of the connected device.
      • You can adjust the volume on the headset during music playback.
      • You cannot adjust the volume during a call on the headset. Adjust the volume on the connected device.
      • Connect the Bluetooth device to the headset once again.

Resetting and initializing may help with the troubleshooting.

      Resetting the headset
      • Press and hold the button on the left unit for about 20 seconds.
      • Release your finger when the indicator (red) of the headset turns off after flashing.
      • Then press and hold the button on the right unit for about 20 seconds.
      • Release your finger when the indicator (red) of the headset turns off after flashing.
•The device registration (pairing) information and other settings are retained.

After resetting, check to see if the issue was resolved.
If this issues still occurs, Initialize the headphones to restore the factory settings.

To initialize the headset, refer to the link below.

Very Bassy but not the most comfortable

Most important function of any headset is sound. Now I'm not exactly an audiophile, but to me, these do sound really good, especially the bass, which is apparently what these are known for. Compared to my other earbuds and ones I've tried before, none of them come close to the bass that these produce. Just make sure you have the right size buds attached and fitted in your ear properly to get that good sound. If the fit isn't right, the sound will suffer. The built-in mic works pretty well. I took several types of calls and didn't have any issues with the person on the other end of the line hearing or understanding me. Let's talk about the fit next. Once you get the right buds put on (it comes with mediums attached and has 3 other sizes in the box to choose from), and you get it in your ear properly, it feels secure. I wouldn't take them on a roller coaster, but they feel like they'd be more than secure for some cardio at the gym. Comfort is another story. Since these are wireless, they're bulkier and heavier than your standard wired buds. But also, they don't just slide straight in. With these, you have to slide them in and then twist them to get them seated properly. This twisting motion was not smooth or comfortable. Once 'twisted' in, the silicone buds felt like they were exerting additional pressure against the skin of my ear, and this was after changing out the buds to the smallest size. I gave them several days to try and adjust or get them "broken-in", but they just left my ears feeling kind of raw to where putting on my wired earbuds gave me a feeling of relief. Another negative I have with these is you practically have to learn morse code to use these. Each earbud only has one single button. Adjusting volume, switching tracks, and other functions is a matter of learning series of button presses. Honestly, I found it simpler for me to just use my phone to control them. Same thing goes for the led notifications like low battery, connecting, connected, etc. You need to learn the colors, speed and number of flashes. I still don't even know how to turn these off. When I'm done with them I just put them in their case, turn off bluetooth on my phone and figure they'll just turn off on their own. The instructions for learning all this are minimal as far as what comes in the package. You'll have to do a search online to find the complete manuals through Sony. Going back to their fit, the design of these aren't very intuitive as to how they're supposed to fit in your ear. I had trouble knowing if I had them in correctly and ended up looking for videos online for help. There are other positives though. When it came to connecting to my Android phone, it was a breeze and perfectly maintained the connection without any skipping. They hold a charge for a long time and "snap" easily into place inside the charging case. After my first full use where I depleted the charge completely, it only took a couple hours to get back to 100% just from the case without any plug. With a fully charged headset and case, you could go a pretty long time without having to plug them in. The case isn't too bulky. And it has a pretty cool semi-transparent cover letting you see the red charging lights through it. Plus there's no wires getting tangled up. Overall they're a quality headset that works well. If only they were just more comfortable. If I could, I would rate them 3.5 stars, but that's not an option. They're definitely deserving of more than 3, but not quite a solid 4. Since part of the comfort issue might just be me not being used to them I feel 4 is the right way to go since I do like these otherwise.

These are the toughest earbuds ever. These things have been to war and back with me. They have been washed, left on heaters overnight, been dropped from heights over 8ft, been in my pocket at dirty job sites and have survived. They are big so if you have little ears you might want to get smaller earbuds. If you have big ears, these things have a long battery life, have amazing bass, and good sound.

My Sony MDRXB50 Extra Bass is my sound standard when it comes to earphones, and I'm glad to have found a similar, if not better, pair of earphones. I have wanted to go wireless but none of the pairs I tried on - AirPods Pro, JBL, Skullcandy - really convinced me of their sound quality since I'm looking for something EDM-friendly (aggressive bass). Plus they are more expensive overall. If you want an extra bass pair of wireless earphones that do not break your bank, this is it. Full disclosure: I had to return it at first because I kept losing connection to my phone and laptop from time to time. Now, the current pair only sometimes lose its connection to my work laptop, not anything else.

I got these on sale for $70, so I am basing my review on that. And even at $130, I think I would still be very happy with these. Firstly, these headphones have no business sounding this good at $70. I've owned/own the Audio Technica M50s, Audio Technica G1WL, and Klipsch S4 earbuds, and I tend to listen to alt rock and electronic music, just for some perspective of what I'm basing this off of. When I first put these in, I wasn't expecting a lot. I just wanted something to use at work that sounded decent. But dam was I impressed when I hit play. I instantly smiled! Like I said, these have no business sounding this good for this price. These are very bass heavy, as advertised, so don't buy these if you can't stand heavy bass. But overall, they amazing. For me, the standard ear tips fit perfect, and these aren't slipping out of my ear at all. The button controls aren't bad. Simple, but nothing to write home about. I can't quite comment on battery long term yet, but I only need at most 6 hours a day for sitting at my desk, and along with the charging case, I won't have any issues. Highly recommended! Extremely impressed with Sony here

Using these with my Sony Bravia 4K TV and the quality of the sound was quite improved from the earlier earbuds I was using. Took off 1 star as I had hoped both the TV, Blu-ray Player and headphones/earbuds all being Sony would improve the volume required for adequate listening. I find that the volume setting must be VERY HIGH (80 or higher) to be able to hear at what one would describe as normal sounds/tones. The earbuds charged quickly and paired with the TV relatively quickly. I have not experienced any lag with the DVD or TV. Have yet to stream anything but that should hopefully be a non-issue since I am not relying on Wi-Fi for the streaming (hardwired). My use has been a bit more limited so I have not attempted any long periods of using the earbuds/headphones--hoping that the estimated amount of charge time is correct. For me 4-5 hours will meet my target. Was pleasantly surprised at the snug fit of the headphones/earbuds without changing the cover piece. My previous earbuds were of a design that the bottom portion would extend down towards my jaw. Took me a few moments to figure out how to insert the earbuds/headphones without feeling they would drop out or pop out. Hoping I get a long period of time of use of these headphones/earbuds. Assuming all goes well then I may opt to get the higher end headphones/earbuds from Sony. While these were slightly higher in cost than my earlier earbuds my early experience indicates it was worth the added cost. Here's hoping all continues that way.

I tried a pair of Samsung's but they had poor range and horrible lag. Noise cancelling technology usually gives me a headache, so I do not bother with the high end versions. Though, in my recent experience the Sony's bother me less than the Bose and Apple, which are the only other's that I have tried. Anyway, these earbuds sound great, work great. What more could you ask? Well, make them smaller, maybe a better interface instead of the two buttons. Not a huge deal, these are not top of the line earbuds. They sound like it, so at the price point I can live with the minor issues. Very happy with these. I will be buying another pair.

They're good earphones for the $60 I paid for them. I got these because they fall in line with my Sony headphones, the XB900N. Obviously, I love Bass, and the HEADPHONES are amazing! Clear sound AND good bass; These? They have decent bass, but the Bass in earphones (limited physical space) overpowers everything else. Good luck listening to Bass AND vocals CLEARLY. They also tend to keep falling out my ear. I thought I wouldn't need insurance on these, but I apparently am ... What to expect from earphones though? I went into it knowing earphones will NEVER match headphone quality, but earphones are more portable and convenient to have. I may have to try the Pixel, purely for fit, because i'm realizing FIT is a little more important than SOUND in this new gen of wireless earbuds. Why did they take away the loop design to go around the outside of your ear? IDK, the airpod design is good, secures the ear piece right in there, but these other designs like THESE, or the Samsung, Pixel, etc with rounded designs, they need outer ear support for better reliability.

These offer a great sound and are easy to pair with your phone. The case keeps them charged for multiple uses. I wear them at the gym and they are great for keeping the ambient noise to a minimum as I listen. They are a little large though and do tend to stick out a good bit. Also, using the volume controls will definitely require you to read the book. It's not intuitive. Still, for the price these have an amazing sound.

Pros: they sound great! I haven't had any ear buds that have had this kind of bass. They last me all day at work to, which is a plus. Love not being interrupting by having to charge my headset. Cons: phones calls are ok. I've had to speak louder than usual for people to hear me. The button instead of touching the ear bud to pause and change the songs is still something in getting used to.

These are great sounding headphones. The bass is much more intense than that of my PowerPro Beats headphones. However, these were falling out of my ears while running so I had to give these to my boyfriend and I hoped for the over the ear Beats. So if you’re a runner, they are just too bulky and don’t have enough support to make it through strenuous exercise.

      Hi Molly,

We're glad that you like the sound quality of the headphones. It's unfortunate that you are not having a complete experience because of its fit. To achieve the best comfort and fit, make sure that you are wearing the headset properly. M-sized hybrid silicone rubber earbuds come attached to the left and right units of the headset at the time of purchase. If the earbuds tend to come off or you feel that there is insufficient low-frequency sound and a difference in volume between the left and right units, change the earbuds to another size to comfortably and snugly fit your left and right ears. The earbud will be easier to slide deep into your ear if you pull up on the top of the ear lightly while twisting the headset. You may also refer to this link for more information:

Well I must say I'm really happy with my ear buds. The battery life last long and like others have said the bass response is great. Sound is also great. I've had a few others and these have had the best bass response. Also connecting is a breeze. I has tried some skull candy units and they were a pain to connect and volume seemed limited. These are also comfortable like most any headphone they do get tiresome after more than 4 or 5 hours. Also i noticed if you are working and waring a face mask make sure the mask isn't tight around you ears or it'll make your ear buds feel uncomfortable. Hope this is helpful.

I've had these since they originally came out in April 2020 and I've had them for over a year now to post my review of these. Before I get into the review, please note that this is a no-frills wireless earbuds that does 2 main functions - music enthusiasts that are looking for extra bass with clarity and excellent voice talk quality all with buttons only. Newer models will gestures and touch controls still don't fully work with each manufacturer having their own ways of user functions. As a commuter during winter especially with gloves and over the ear hats, nothing beats the good old clicks. Buttons are becoming rare and I plan on buying another as a spare when the price comes down. I've been hold out for at least 4 years now ever since truly wireless earphones have been out. The WF1000M4 looks to be the king with all the bells and whistles but I have the WH1000M4. Meet the WF-XB700 TWS earphones. If you have been waiting for something small that really hits bass home with 100% voice clarity across the music spectrum, this is it. No frills, no gimmicks, just pure music. I do listen to a lot of reggae and modern worship music. I love the blue and viridian blue mixed together. It feels very solid in your had and the ear pieces are magnetic that 'clicks' in place one you put them in. They really fit like a glove and these bad boys are not going anywhere even when you jump. As for 9 hours on a single charge, I'll take it. Sony has really done a fantastic job in delivering a premium ear piece which seals the deal for me. If you love bass, extra bass (without drowning/muddying your ears) for a TWS ear piece, look no further.

All around great sound quality and I love the extra bass!!! Excellent noise cancelers and a comfortable fit into the ear. The buds have a great connection range. The rechargeable case makes usage really convenient. The buds themselves are a little on the large size but overall a great product. I would recommend this product.

Thiese are a solid pair of ear buds, Now that being said there are a few things you should know before buying to possibly save yourself a headache. First off these are NOT supported in the Sony audio app they are not likely to add support in the future either. Which is disappointing as these things sound fantastic. The drivers in them really hit the bass to the point I like them more than my galaxy live buds. The foam style cap covers provide a stable seal which is great as they don't have ANC. But I can't tell because of how well the audio is delivered. And they stay put in my ears no matter what I'm doing. Battery life is phenomenal I get multiple days of life on a single case charge and charge the case every few weeks. They have no waterproofing (another downside) or touch control. Two little buttons do the work and considering I was able to get them during a sale for $60 these are considerably worth the purchase, and by comparison blow any <$100 pair of headphones away.(if you can live with the sacrifices)
