Only 4 stars bc I haven't used them more than a day. People have told me that it sounded like I was talking on the phone when talking with them. The ANC is incredible. It makes everything silent around you and I mean it gets silent. Price maybe a little high but the quality is exceptional.

PROS: Honestly they sound absolutely amazing. It took some tweeking to get the equalizer right, but then it was good. I mostly listen to classical music and metal, but it did good for both. They fit my ears really well and didn't fall out easily. They were also really comfortable once you got used to it. I would recomend doing the air tight test in the app to find what works for you. The ANC is AMAZING! I work in a loud environment, but once the ANC kicks in it is barely a hum in the background. There was some uncomfortable pressure at the beginning as I got used to it, but now it doesn't exist. CONS: The downsides that I have found is that you HAVE to use the right earbud to connect (so no left ear only use). Then if you don't have anything playing, it has a habit of unsyncing between the buds. So when you start up audio again, you only get it out of the right bud untill you stop/restart a few times. Finally it gets weird pulses of ANC/wind noise/ANC when you have no audio playing. I have seen that this might be caused by the LDAC codec and it further agrivated by using the upscaling tech, but it is only a bit annoying. CONCLUSION: I find them to be a very good pair of headphones, but with a few flaws. Aside from having to use the right bud, the other things can probably be fixed in later firmware. If you dont mind these things, these are a VERY good pair of headphones and a must have for noisy environments.

Posted .Hi Kevin, we appreciate your detailed review. We're glad that you love the sound quality and noise canceling feature. The left headset can truly be used by itself. If you are using the WF-1000XM4 without downloading & installing the Headphones Connect App, yet they DO set up/activate Google Assistant: by default the RIGHT headset is assigned Google Assistant hence by design the LEFT side then cannot be used by itself.
Here are additional troubleshooting steps/issues to consider:
1. Both sides must initially be paired/registered via Bluetooth
2. If Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa will be used => ensure it is assigned (using HPC) to the side being used
3. Ensure the customer is aware of the default HPC App settings è ‘Automatic Power Off’ and ‘Pauses when headphones are taken off’ are turned ON.
4. If removing the Right headset to use the Left headset by itself: if the Right headset touch sensor is inadvertently touched, you’ll need to restart playback on your smartphone.

Best noise cancellation in the market, decent battery life. a bit bulky in-ears but great sound. Ear tips get oily and slipped out of ears, no extra tips are provided. in this high price should be with different tips like the previous WF-1000XM3, overall satisfactory but needs improvement

They fit great, sound great, awesome battery life and options available are essentially all you need with a pair of earbuds. Super impressed with these. I just purchased these yesterday so I can't speak to the longevity of them but as for first impressions, I enjoy these quite a bit! These will replace my Beat Fit Pros as my daily drivers. I used them at work yesterday and tested them at the gym this morning. No issues either time. Maybe a bit overpriced but you get the quality you'd expect at this price point. Thanks Sony!

The foam ear inserts are why I have rated this 4/5. They are extremely uncomfortable to wear over time (even just 30 minutes). I was considering returning the earbuds due to this. Before doing so I decided to purchase a set of replacement rubber ear inserts on amazon and it improved the experience 1000%.

They aren't too big or heavy, and the foam earbuds nake a great seal. The noise cancelling wasnt as good as I was expecting, but it did quiet things up more rhan just javing the foam earbuds. Sound quality is what you come to expect drom Sony: bass heavy sound profile. Controls are great, and completely customizable in the app. Would buy these again if i had to do it all over.

The noise cancelling is top notch, volume is great, the memory foam tips are great, even the battery life is good. For a $300 pair of headphones you would think that water resistance would be better and that it would work for more than 2 years.

It is difficult for Sony or any other manufacturer to quote the life expectancy for a product. Certain variables, such as the amount of use (or lack thereof) a product receives and the environmental conditions in which a product is being used, play a part in the life expectancy of a product.
This unit has an IPX4 water-resistance rating against splashes and sweat. That means these headphones can be used on your workout and the daily commute, but it is not recommended to wear these headphones in the rain.

Its lacking some padding to the outside to allow some comfort or flex when the ear bones move while talking or smiling. I'm Trying Senheiser now and they have adjustable padded flaps to the outside that allows a more comfortable grip, so far so good on the Senheiser.

Ear canals vary in size from person to person, and can also vary in size from the left to the right sides. The WF1000XM4 comes with different sizes of earbud tips so that you can achieve the maximum effects of the earbuds. To keep the headphones from falling out, please select the right size earbud tips. We also recommend wearing the earbuds properly.
Gently pull up on the top of your ears, put the earbud tips in your ear canal, and then twist the earbuds into place. This makes sure the earbuds are firmly in the ear canal.

Ive had a plethora of wireless earbuds and these are most definitely among the very best overall. The fitment is sometimes a challenge and i haven't run with them in yet but again, they are among the best. The noise cancelling is superb as is the ambient sound feature. Battery life is, yet again, the best I've had the opportunity to experience. In my opinion, the simply do everything well. They connect quickly and the app allows you to adjust many features to your liking. Of course, these are made by Sony so i didn't wxpect anything less. As the old 80s commercial used to say; "Sony! The one and only."

After trying several other brands for an earbud namely: apple, beat and bose, I thought I should just return to my usual and solid choice of SONY headphones. I also have a WH-1000XM4 overhead same color that I use for work so I thought it's certainly a reliable choice. I received these yesterday and was soooo hoping to keep them because sound quality and NC is decent (less so in comparison to overhead which makes sense), but then am stunned with this design!!! Did you guys try it on a couple of your friends ears before releasing this product?!!! There are also some occasional beeps and I dont know where they're coming from as much qs I look at my phone and the sony app...Sadly I have to return this one too. I think there is still a long way for earbuds to incorporate both good design, battery life, proper noise cancelling and decent sound quality as this is still a young product.

I think the charging case overheated either in pocket or while charging, and the battery life on all three pieces have less than 2 hours of charge. I usually wear them for hours at a time ehile working. They stay in your ear, provide great sound - both ambient and noise canceling, and are very easy to set up.

K why 2 stars reason is these fit horribly. To stay a snug fit aka not pop out,have good bass and make the anc work well they have to be jammed far to much creating annoying pressure in the ear. Ive tried all the plug sizes and even have tried aftermarket ones yet their still uncomfortable. I can wear them max about an hour then they get annoying to point that i take them out. Big problem with these is they dont try to form to the ear. With anc yes a good seal helps a lot but its literally like fitting ear plugs in tight as they can. Sony makes excellent fullsize headphones that are comfy but it was an afterthought with these. I would wait for a redesigned new model they got the tech working great but comfort design department needs fired on this one.

I was blown away by how these good earbuds could sound when everything worked properly. Unfortunately, they rarely worked as intended. In LDAC mode, I could not get a stable connection. Even in AAC mode, they were spotty and would sometimes reboot in the middle of listening. I also could only get the right earbud to pair to my phone, so if I wanted to use just one at a time, it had to be the left. That's a minor inconvenience, but it was an issue for me nonetheless. They also did not fit comfortably in my ear no matter what. I didn't mind the foam tips - I liked them even - but the seal they made with my ear loosened as I talked or ate with them in. This would also mess with the active noise cancellation, which was the best I've experienced when it worked, so it was a mess all around. I couldn't recommend anyone buy them until those issues are fixed.

We'd like to help make this a better experience. Please make sure that software of the unit is updated as it includes key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements. When you want to play back music with LDAC, we suggest to set the sound quality mode to the “Priority on sound quality” mode using the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app. In the “Priority on stable connection” mode (factory setting), music cannot be played back with LDAC. When using only one unit of the headset and depending on the headset unit you are wearing, some functions may not be available in the factory settings. With regards the discomforts you are experiencing while wearing the headset. If you've already tried to change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears, twist the headset unit to fit it snugly into the ear canal and adjust the positioning of the headset unit until it fits comfortably and wait for about 10 seconds for the earbud tip shape to stabilize.
