I work in a very noisy environment, with these headphones I can enjoy music at work by adjusting the built-in equalizer without damaging my ears and talking at the same time with the people around me, thanks to the "speak-to-chat" function. Music pauses automatically when I speak and if noise canceling is desired, it is activated during the time I am talking. The music, noise canceling or ambient sound resumes just a few seconds after I stop talking, all this without taking off my headphones and I have had a very clear and normal conversation.

The noise cancellation on these headphones are amazing. Nothing like the Apple AirPod Pros. These actually cancel out everything at the gym. Love that you can put the headphones in your pocket and they magnetically stick together so they don’t separate.

I was surprised at how well these earbuds cancel out a lot of noise almost on the level as their over the head competitors. One minor negative or con I have with these earbuds is when the volume is cranked up over 80% the EQ shifts. Other than that these sound amazing. the wireless charging is a nice touch and very convenient and the ambient mode is amazing with the Microphone quality very good that almost sounds like I don’t have headphones on my ears. The foam tips that come with the earbuds are comfortable at certain times but sometimes they tend to get itchy a little bit. Also with having the IP4 rating makes them workout approved. The battery life last long enough for just about anything. Overall, it’s an amazing product and I do recommend it for anyone who wants to have noise, canceling headphones with a compact design.

As of now, they are 98% flawless. Excellent battery life, most amazing ANC I've experienced, and good sound. Bass has improved after break in period, but it does lessen as the volume increases making it a bit unbalanced. Logic tells me that this is by design to protect the buds from damage, and is the only thing keeping it from a 5 star rating. Compact, comfortable, and of course.....expensive. Sound quality is slightly less than direct competition (Bose Quiet Comfort) but the ANC is far superior and the size is about half. Being so new, I expect firmware updates to make the listening experience unrivaled (is Sony listening?) Great and extensive touch features that are very responsive. Bass letdown is the only drawback, which is kinda funny being that they "claim" this to be a selling point. I like to feel my music, and these lack at higher volume.

I have ALWAYS BEEN A APPLE BEATS FAN (UNTIL NOW) I never thought that another pair of headphones could have enough of EVERYTHING to lure me away from the Apple ecosystem. I returned the studio buds and was WOWED when I received these. My family and I subscribe to TIDAL and the 360 audio along with the master recordings and these headphones ( that also upgrades music tracks, customize ear sizes , the fit and a host of other options) ;) ;) WORTH ALL $300

The Sony WF-1000XM4 builds on the incredible WF-1000XM3’s by improving a few design features and improving sound quality and noise cancellation technology even further. These are not just good, but GREAT! Packaging has improved from the prior generation. Sony has moved toward sustainable packaging so there is no more oversized box with print on it. Instead the package is just large enough to fit everything inside and made out of recycled paper products. In the “box”: - Earbuds with Charging Case (Much smaller case than before) - Short USB-A to USB-C charging cable - Three sizes of new foam style ear tips (S,M,L) - Warranty Info, Quick Start Material Pairing the earbuds for the first time is as simple as taking them out of the case (already in pairing mode) and pairing them to your device. Once paired you will most likely want to download the Sony Headphones app if you don’t have it already to get the most out of the sound and features these earbuds provide. If you already have the app installed, the app will notice the earbuds and prompt to connect them automatically. With the new smaller design compared to the last generation of these buds, they are supposed to fit better inside the ear. Given only three sizes of tips are provided I found the small size fit my ear best. It still takes a little insert of twist function to get them fit correctly and trust me you want them to because when combined with the noise cancellation technology, the world around you will disappear. There were some comfort issues over longer periods of time which I will go over below. Sound Quality/ANC: Now to discuss the sound quality and active noise cancellation… WOW! If you are familiar with this line of headphone and earbuds, you know they are some of the best out there but seeing that Sony has made them even better is shocking. The ANC blocks out just about everything around you and what it can’t is extremely quiet. The sound quality is great as usual but with a few tweaks within the app to make them my preferred EQ was easy. I recommend turning on DSEE Extreme if listening to music that is being streaming or of a lower quality source. Since these support LDAC codec of streaming it might not be necessary at all times but it shouldn’t hurt to leave DSEE turned on. I turned up the “clear bass” about 3 levels and otherwise the sound quality is where I like it. Several premade EQ’s can help you find that you like. The earbuds feature “Speak to Chat” which automatically detects when you are talking and pauses the music/sound for a set period of time which you can choose. This is great for quick conversations. Call (Mic) quality is good but I don’t think it is class leading. They do a good job of trying to isolate the person wearing them but I think it could be improved. Comfort: The one drawback I have found so far with these earbuds is comfort for longer periods of time. Around the 2-hour mark I start to get moderate to severe pain where the ear tips sit. "They just need to come out for a while" type of irritation. Given I am using the smallest size provided I don’t see how this can be remedied. Like mentioned before the previous version of this earbud provided four sizes of tips (XS,S,M,L) and I actually used the XS size. Keep this in mind if you generally have smaller ears or use smaller size tips. Pros: - Active Noise Cancellation (Best in class) - Bluetooth 5.2 - Sound Quality with app integration - Small Wireless Charging Case (Not offered on XM3) - Color scheme (Black and Silver) - IPx4 Water Rating - 6mm Driver - Sustainable Packaging Cons: - Only 3 sizes of ear tips - Discomfort after 1.5-2 hours (Smallest ear tip provided being used) - No volume control from touch controls on earbuds Overall these earbuds just amaze me. Sony not only improved the product substantially from the last generation but took feedback and made adjustments. These are likely the best sounding earbuds with the best ANC you can buy right now. Although they feature a hefty price tag I would 100% recommend anyone in the market to give them a look!

I have been fortunate to have purchased the sony ear buds as well as the on ear headphones. The sounds with both are fantastic, for types of music. I live in nyc, so riding the subway with the inear earbuds allows me to enjoy, quality sounds with out feeling like a target with the on ear. Worth the money.

Good earbuds to begin with. Sound and Noise canceling was really good. Fit well too. However…. They stopped working about a year and a half later. They appeared to be charged but stopped connecting via Bluetooth. Tried other phones and still unable to connect. Terrible.

For once the rumors were true! I was sold out for the Samsung buds pros and all the features but once the Sony machine released these it changed things. The earphone world has a new king of earphones and its these. It wins in everything for sound. Highs are like Ice being shaved off a surface, mids are so detailed it has no equal to it, and the lows of course and highs with power unmatched.

Really like these headphones, I think they sound is amazing. They are easy to set up and using and no issues with the connecting to the Bluetooth. One of the fastest charging headphones, Noise cancelling is okay but does help with the noise. Charing case is tiny, which is good. Helped with price getting them during the holidays.

Pros: - Fantastic sound - Active noise canceling is superb - Passive noise canceling is also good - A headphone app you actually want to use - “Speak to chat” and adaptive sound control options - Smaller than 1000xm3’s and much smaller case (40% smaller) - Battery life beats the competition, especially with ANC off - Wireless charging case (and USB C) - Buds charge fast in the case - 5 band EQ - All recycled paper packaging Cons: - unfortunately for me, not super comfortable long term - still a little “bulky” look in the ears if that bothers you - no swipe to control volume (yet, as of June 17th. Maybe this will be added?) With a lot of hype for these headphones (Who’s long name I will only type out once), Sony WF1000XM4, I was hoping they’d be as good as advertised and after a few days of playing around with them, I can say they definitely hold up to the hype. Does that make them perfect? Nope. And nothing is, but the XM4’s come really close to perfection. I have two other “true wireless” headphone pairs and numerous wired or over ear headphones, (including a few other Sonys because...well, Sony.) And these buds aren’t even in the same class as my other pairs. They all serve a purpose, some are better for workouts, some are better for multitasking, for phone calls, some are better for comfort, but until I got the XM4’s, none of them were better for all the categories at once. I finally found the best headphones that cover every angle with excellence! SOUND: Obviously these are Sony brand headphones which means they are going to have some of the industry leading best sound quality, but I am still impressed with the sound of these little things. Everything from classical guitar to heavy metal sounds good. And with a 5 band EQ, complete with presets including 3 custom, you can dial in sound just how you want it. With any in-ear headphone you’ll be able to get a good heavy low end boost, and these buds are no different. The bass is very full and thick but not overpowering in my opinion. The highs still break through clean and while listening to some acoustic guitar I could really hear a full body sound with crisp highs and thick lows but no mud anywhere. Switching to some classic rock from Rush, I could hear all the synth blending beautifully with the percussion and guitar while the bass demanded attention in a way I never really heard before. I was hearing layers to songs I didn’t know were there. The same experiences continued as I worked through modern pop, rock, metal and podcasts. Sometimes adjusting the EQ but always sounding superb. NOISE CANCELING and FEATURES: This may be the best active noise canceling in-ear headphones I’ve tried to date. The passive noise canceling (as in just how much they block out naturally, like “plugging your ears”) is very good on it’s own and this helps make the active noise canceling perform that much better. I tested the 3 noise canceling options (Active, ambient, off) and when I turned on noise canceling everything around me just disappeared. I had a fan running, people talking, and wind blowing (these earbuds even include a special wind noise reduction feature!) but all I heard was the music. Just the way you want it. The Sony V1 chip hype is legit! I could go on and on about how and why these work so well, but the bottomline is they just work. If you want to block out almost all the noise around you, these are the buds for you. The app is full of features that would take too long to explain one by one, but suffice it to say, there are a lot of things you can turn on or off and use to customize your headphones. One worth mentioning is the “speak to chat” which basically senses when you are talking and will turn on ambient sound and pause your audio so you can have a conversation. Then when you are done, it will turn the music back on. At first this was too sensitive and was going off when I would cough or clear my throat but I lowered the sensitivity and it was working perfectly after that. Another thing to point out is the app lets you customize the touch functions on each bud but unfortunately, so far I haven’t found a way to get the “play/pause” controls AND the volume controls on ONE bud. I can make one side volume and one side play/pause but then I can’t have the ambient controls. I thought there was a way to customize the settings completely, which is how Sony makes it sound, but I haven’t found this YET. What I would love to see is something similar to the pixel buds where you can swipe up or down to adjust volume. Luckily that could be doable in a software update I would assume. FIT: While I’m mentioning a few downsides, I will mention that unfortunately I haven’t been able to find a way to make these comfortable long term for me. This is obviously going to be different for every person, but I am a smaller person in general and my ears and head are smaller than average, therefore I found the buds to be a little sore after about an hour of wearing them. I have some Bose in-ears and I can wear those longer without discomfort but my issue with the xm4 buds was more the outer part pushing on the outside of my ear. It’s hard to explain, but my discomfort was not the inner ear from the tips (those are actually very comfortable) the issue was more the outside of my ear being pushed by the main body of the buds. This is in no means a deal breaker, and generally I see most people say they are comfortable, but I wanted to mention it for those who may have very small outer ears. Like I said though, the tips fit really nice IN my ear and after a few days wearing them I think the comfort got even better overall. OVERALL/ TL;DR: Overall these headphones are well worth the cost (even though they are a bit pricey). If you’re looking for a pair of prime in ear true wireless headphones that are going to crush it in the “all around” category, then these are the earbuds for you! They have great sound, fantastic noise canceling, customizable features, long battery life, good comfort for the average user, and so much more, you don’t want to pass on these!

Literally the Best Buy in wireless headphones, the noise cancelling feature is awesome and pairing these earbuds with my different devices has been smooth although waiting for the multipoint Bluetooth which will make them even better than they are. Once again, Sony has demonstrated why is the leading company on TV´s and sound

I am amazed at how good these sound given how small they are. Definitely worth the money. They are comparable with the pair of sony WH-1000XM2 over the ear headphones I have been using for a few years which blows my mind. Make sure to make use of LDAC if you use an Android phone, and take some time to set the equalizer settings in the app. It makes a big difference.

I carry these with me everywhere and I just love them.

These earbuds only last for 20 minutes now. Before it could be hours now you constantly have to charge it. And that foam tip is practically wear off after a month. I thought I had a bad one but apparently this is normal. And on top of that it doesn't give you a heads up before it dies it just dies on you. I'm having trouble charging both earbuds at the same time one normally charges yet the other one doesn't charge for some reason.

Omg I paid 248 dollars for these earbuds and I am very disappointed. I only use these for the gym and back and recently my battery life only last less than an hour. i’ve never damaged this pair, wet this pair or dropped this pair and for some reason the battery life only last an hour. On the other I have a pair of airpods that I've wash three times and dried once and they still work.. I love the Sony, but I just hate that I’m going through this battery life issue. you think if you pay more you get more out of your ear buds. i’m not even sure if I can do a claim since I’ve had them for more than two years. I’ve had the AirPods for 6 years.
