I have the Bose Quiet comfort for few years but bought the Sony for my son. Music is great and noise cancelling works great. I like the hand waving feature to pause the sound and all the control. Works great on phone call as well.

The headphones are great. They are super comfy and you don't even realize you're wearing them. The sound quality is above-average and the fact that there is an app where you can fine tune the equalizer to your preference is awesome. The noise cancellation feature is the best in its class. Having the ability to have instant access to the Google Assistant is also a great feature. My favorite part is being able to cup the right ear and it temporarily turns off the noise cancelling and music so you can talk or listen.

These sound amazing. Especially the noise cancelling just leaves me in my own little bubble of silence. The cool feature when I need to listen to the outside world, I just have to put my hand on the right side and listen without removing them.

    The BEST noise-cancelling headphones

I got these headphones based on some of the reviews I read hoping they would be an upgrade over the excellent Bose QC35's that I already own. I also have the Sony 1000X behind-the-neck headphones and love the sound they deliver with excellent highs/mids and a punchier base than the QC35's, however, the noise-cancelling feature is not as good. So I was hoping that the Sony 1000MX3's might have both: excellent sound/punchy base and better noise cancelling. The answer was a resounding YES! The 1000MX3 has both amazing sound and incredible noise-cancelling technology. I downloaded the Sony Headphones Connect app which has numerous features, one of which is an equalizer so you can adjust the sound to the sound profile you like best. I prefer the "Excited" mode, great full-range sound with solid bass tones. Once you close down the app it retains whatever sound mode you last chose so you don't have reset it every time you turn on the headphones. The noise-cancelling is incredible, better than Bose in my opinion. It has a "smart listening" feature which automatically balances the noise-cancelling levels to your activity level and it works amazingly. The battery life is also outstanding, Sony states it will last up to 30 hours and I can confirm that. If the battery runs low you can charge it for only 10 minutes and get 5 hours of playback, pretty impressive. So to sum up, the Sony WH-1000XM3's deliver premium sound, outstanding noise-cancelling abilities, excellent battery life and they are comfortable to wear over long periods of time. You can't find a better pair of headphones.

These are the best sounding wireless headphones that I have owned. The sound quality is great and the features are incredible. I especially appreciate the ability to change the selection, control the volume, etc., just by swiping outside the right ear cup, no buttons or knobs to contend with. Sony really stepped up the game with this set.

I have to say, I'm very impressed with what Sony has done with their 3rd gen WH1000's! It was a toss up between these and the Bose QC II's and I have to say I don't regret my decision one bit. These sound so amazing and the noise canceling feature is second to none! I would absolutely recommend these to any and everyone!

    Best Headset Ever!!!

I've had good headsets before, but this one takes the cake. It has so many features, as well as some of the best sound and bass I've heard. Not only is the bass rich sounding and heavy but the sound is clear at the same time! The noise cancelling feature adds so much to the sound quality, that it virtually sounds too good to be true. the noise cancelling and ambient noise features can easily be adjusted by the button on the headset or by the Sony Headphones App. I highly recommend the app, it has so many added features for manual EQ settings and pre-set sound profiles. It also helps to personalize your sound experience based on elevation, motion and the sound resistance. It's all very impressive. The outside of the right ear cup, has a touch sensor in it that adds motion controls for quick swipes to volume and different tracks. It even makes it possible to quickly hear people talking to you WITHOUT pulling the headset away from your ear, like with traditional headsets, by simply pressing your palm against the outside right ear cup! A must have for all music enthusiasts! These are just simply amazing! as a side note: they also work great on calls having several mics in the unit to pick up your voice loud and clear! these can easily connect to your phone or device through bluetooth or NFC. There was an update to the headphones for a better google assistants experience, when I connected them to the Sony app. It took about 30 minutes to download the update from the phone to the headphones, and everything still works great!

    A Good Item

This is a good item, and definitely better than some I have tried. The best aspect, in my opinion, is that this item feels very comfortable. That is a big deal for me because I hate it when I am wearing headphones that hurt the top of my head or my ears. Additionally, some headphones hurt my head when I am wearing glasses. This is not a problem with these headphones. The battery is long lasting, as well. The noise cancelling feature works well. The best part of the noise cancelling feature is that you can touch the right side of the headphones and it will turn off the noise cancelling feature until you let go of the right side of the headphones. This is great for when someone is talking to you because I do not have to pause the music. And then as soon as I let go of the right side of the headphones the music comes back at the same level as before. While there is nothing that really makes these headphones great, there is plenty of things that make this item good. In fact, these are the headphones that I use the most right now.

These are great headphones. The noise cancelling is excellent and customizable, which I don't believe is an option with the other big names in this space. Battery is rated to last 30 hours, though I haven't even come close to hitting that limit yet. The earcups are extraordinarily comfortable, on the same level with or besting the other big names. Overall, very happy with these headphones.

Headphones sound great The noise cancel and other features are great. Most can be controlled through the app or a limited number of buttons on the headphones, visible or hidden. The fit is fairly flexible may be a little large for kids but fine for most adults. Everything is pretty much plug and play I had a little difficulty toggling between my phone and iPad, there were some hiccups. Also the hidden volume on the right ear works ok but there is a little lag. I could not get the fast forward/skip to work well, only play/pause They fold up well and come with a great case, wired headphone cord, micro usb-C charging cord (no plug), and airplane cord adapter

good: - sound quality - Ultimately the single most important criteria for most people when shopping for headphones I would imagine. The sound signature for the 3rd version of these isn't substantially different from previous ones, but to my ear sounds more refined. Vocals (and mids in general) are a bit more balanced and cleaner than previous versions, which were already pretty good to start with (if nowhere near neutral). While they may not compete with "audiophile" headphones, these are the best i've heard in the ANC category, hands down. - noise cancelling - i'ven't used these on a plane just yet, but so far i've been quite impressed with not only the ANC but the ambient modes as well. Basically you get more control over what you want and don't want to hear. For some, this may not be all that important, but for others it may be game changing. The feature most important for me in this area is still the "quick pause" of music and ANC, by holding your right hand over the cup. I absolutely love this feature, especially for catching that announcement at the airport or a quick interjection from someone. - design - These are slimmer and fit closer to the head than earlier models. They also swapped out the textured surface for a smooth finish, which helps in the accuracy of the swipe control motions. Same solid build quality as earlier models as well. - comfort - Previous versions were already comfortable, but these have actually surpassed Bose as winners in that area for me. Lighter, better padding on the top of the head, and bigger / softer ear cushions than the second version. - battery - Substantially improved battery life, rated at 30 hours. Nothing else in this class comes close to it. Over a few days of my testing, i'ven't even hit 50% battery remaining yet. - case - Nice hard case included, along with USB C cable, analog cable, and airplane adapter. - USB C charging. - Multiple microphones for better call quality. bad: - no multi device pairing overall: The only downside for these to me is the single device limitation when pairing. Bose still has Sony beat here, where you can say, pair your phone and your laptop, making it really fast and easy to switch back and forth. Aside from that small detraction, these are an easy 5 stars for me. Excellent sound quality, comfort, ANC, and feature set.

I previously had Bose head phones so that's what I can compare the new Sony headphone to. As far as sound the Sony has more robust sound with great bass clarity. I think the Sony's has a more fuller and richer sound that's music to my ears. I, also, like the fact that the Sony's makes you aware when the headphone is off which saves the battery life if accidentally stays which happen with the Bose headphone. The high tech feature of swiping up and down to raise or lower sound takes a minute to get use to, as well as swiping to move tracks forward and backward doesn't work that well but I'm getting use to it. The headphones are very comfortable as I work-out in the gym with on and have no issues even though I think the Bose may be a tad more comfortable during the long run. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

I work in a large open space with mechanical noise, phones, and a cacophony of loud voices. These conditions make it difficult to concentrate so I've tried all the ANC headphones. I've also tried many noise isolation headphones (including the goofiest looking ones) and these Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones are so good that it is almost perfectly quiet (even when not playing music). I don't seem to get fatigued with sound pressure or with the fit. The controls work very well for me. The iPhone app had some issues but I was able to get it working. I'm not an audiophile but the sound quality seems excellent to me especially given the entire feature set and reasonable price point.

These sound amazing. They also are super comfortable. I often fall asleep with then on and after a few hours they still don't hurt my ears. Convenient features located on the ear. Simply cover one ear to pause music. Ambient mode is ok but not the best in noisey environments. That's where the noise canceling comes in great.

Great sound and noise cancelling, bad call quality

These headphones sound great and have good noise cancelling. The features and touch controls work great and the ability to hear outside noise around you when putting your right hand over the ear cup is a great feature! My only problem with these are the microphones and the call quality. The person on the other end said I sound muffled and that they would hear their own voice echo whenever they spoke. I tried these headphones with different phones and the outcome was still the same. I ended up returning it. Hopefully Sony finds a fix for this because I would love to purchase them again as everything else about the item is wonderful.

Awesome sound but a little heavy

These newest upgraded Sony headphones from the wh1000xm2 have awesome sound and super noice cancellation features great for loud areas like a gym or on a departing airplane where you want to cancel out unnecessary noise. The amount of clarity is amazing and while it doesn't have to level of deep bass like the sony XB-series, it has a variety of customizable sound features to enhance your listening experience depending on where you at. My only complaints are despite it being smaller than the wh1000xm2, it still feels a bit heavy on your head especially when your moving around after an hour or two. Battery life is decent, though using maximum sound volume may drain the juice and may require more charges. Also, the texturized material on the wh1000xm2's did not leave fingerprint smudges as these wh1000xm3's do. These leave a lot of fingerprints after using the touch-sensitive controls so you have to constantly wipe them down and be sure your fingers/hands are clean. Other than these two minor complaints, these are the best in their class.

The best noise canceling headphones yet

These are a big improvement over the last model. They are more comfortable with the band feeling wider than before. The noise canceling seems to block out more of the talking around me than before. I love the feature where you hold your hand against the right side to lower the volume and hear your surroundings. They charge very fast with a USB-C cord and the battery life is about what they claim. The only downside is no plug was provided just a short USB-C cable but I have usb plug chargers already. These really are worth the money and use them every day at work to drown out everyone talking while I focus on work.

I traded in my Bose QC 35s for these and I was not disappointed. I've been a Bose fan for quite a while now and viewed them as unbeatable. When it comes to over-ear noise cancelling headphones, these Sony's are the best you can buy right now. The noise cancelling is better, the sound quality is better, the battery life is better, and it has better feature like the putting-your-hand-over-the-right-ear to turn on ambient noises. The ONLY thing I will miss from Bose is the ability of the headphones to easily pair simultaneously with my computer and my phone. But...I think I can live without that.
