I was able to get them for $199 on sale. It is a bargain considering its regular price of over $300. Yes, there is a newer version, but it doesn't have any significant improvements over this one. And zero improvement on the ANC/sound quality side. So, no brainer as they say. Super comfortable, great sound, long battery life, can connect to 2 devices

I would highly recommend these. I was looking at the XM2s last year but I am glad I waited for these. The sound quality for music is amazing, they are very comfortable. The noise cancellation is on par with Bose for those of you wondering how they comapre. I have used them for 6 hours continuously on flights and they never began to bother me. They do a great job drowning out the nieces and nephews during the holidays. The only downside to these so far is the fact that you cannot have them actively paired to more than one device at a time. It would be great to have these connected to both my laptop and to the phone without having to switch back and forth.

These headphones are simply hard to beat. There is enough bass to be enjoyable and not too boomy. The features included are very useful, from the volume control to covering the right side speaker to speak with someone without removing the headphones. Pairing with the TV was easy so I can listen late night without disturbing anyone sleeping. Listening to music is a real pleasure. The headphones are light enough to wear for hours and I'm very happy with the case and the way the headphones for into it for travel. Noise canceling works as well as I've ever heard and I will take them along on all my flights from now on.

It has been a long time coming for me to actually purchase a noise cancelling over-the-ear headphones. I am totally satisfied with the comfort and the sound that I experience with these headphones! I am a bass player and I have always been aware of the lower notes and rhythm of the music I listen to, These headphones give me a whole new experience to hear things that I have never heard before in music that I have been listening to for a long time! I will be spending a lot of time on airplanes once travel opens up more and these will be a welcome companion!

If you care about sound quality, comfort, wireless, and just overall solid durable design, this is the best there is. Unlike beats that imitate sound, these headphones produce true quality studio sound, just blown away beyond expectations. I let my friend and family try it out and they all bought one. Apple can’t even come close to this, it’s just too good. On the downside the mic quality is bad, I would not recommend them for conference calls. Also, I have used them gym, not an issue at all when running or weight lifting. Please buy, this is a life changing headphone, no joke.

I bought the comparable Bose which were amazing but decided to change to the Sony for the ease of the on ear controls. Most especially, the noise cancelling "cancellation". Simply cupping your right hand over the right ear piece brings you back to ambient sound very quickly. Much easier than the Bose. The audiophile mags say the noise cancelling is better on the Sony so that, coupled with the ease of use, sold me on them. Comfortable, light weight, easy. Awesome!!! One minor thing, if you like to blast music, these don't seem to go too loud. I may have not figured it out yet, there may be an adjustment that eludes me at this time.

I travel a decent amount for work so I have used several different headphones over the years. I loved a pair of Bose QC's that I owned for a long time before I lost them. Replaced them with Beats Studios and was pretty disappointed with them. When the Sony's went on sale, I picked them up and was immediately blown away. They fold pretty flat so the case doesn't take up a ton of space, the battery seems to last forever, and the Bluetooth connection & app were easy to setup. Most importantly, they sound great and cancel all outside noise. My only complaint is that my ears get pretty hot after extended use.

I have a tiny house and needed something to let me work in the same room as my husband while my son watches TV in the next room. Unless my husband is on a fun zoom meeting, I can’t hear his conference calls, my son’s TV, the dishwasher or the air cleaner. Saved my sanity and my relationships without having to move to a bigger house. Lol. They pair easily, are very comfortable, easily adjust to new sounds, last forever without a charge and recharge quickly. This was a lot of money for me to spend but I was at the end of my rope. These are worth the investment.

I’ve had/used these long enough to give a honest and truthful review. Before I purchased the XM3 I was a long time die hard Bose guy. EVERYTHING Bose, gym headphones, go-to earbuds, over the ear, ect. You name it, I have it and let’s face it Bose is a strong competitor in the headphone industry so it’s hard to just shy away. I did about a month of research reading forums here and there. Watching informationl and comparison videos on the QC35II and these. After much deliberation I pulled the trigger and bought them. I have officially made these my “everyday everything” headphone. Flights? It’s like I’m the only one on the plane. Gym? Bass makes it seem like I’m at a venue while lifting and the noise isolation is amazing. Everyday use? I have these on my head whenever I have the given chance. Battery life is fantastic too I was skeptical at first but I use these at the gym five days of the week minimum of an hour each day. Every morning while making breakfast and I charged them once every 10 days just so they stay topped off. The price is up there but you get a very very good set of headphones, they’re light, looks are subjective but sleek none the less and you will not regret these. Case is nice and sturdy the charging cable could be longer but I just use my wifes Samsung charger and it works just fine. The app takes getting used too as well and could use a little work but that’s a different subject on its own. There are a good bit of audio personalization features on the app itself and I can almost guarantee you will find/create an audio profile that’s perfect for any situation. I will add if you do plan on using these at the gym like myself and you can tack on the insurance when you purchase these I wouldn’t hesitate on that either. It’s a nice piece of mind thing also with a $300+ pair of headphones I’d hope insurance is something that’s crossed your mind.

They are comfortable to wear for extended periods. Great sound. Pretty good Bluetooth range. Seems like good battery life. Note that the power connector is USB-C. There is a Sony phone app you can use to update the headphone's frimware and access other features. The headphones have a feature where you swipe up or down to adjust the volume, but it seems tricky to use. Maybe I don't have the hang of that yet. I am highly satisfied with them. When I purchased them, they were not on any discount yet, so I rated the value on the low side.

I just bought a pair of these for my wife and she couldn't be more pleased. The noise canceling is definitely superior to Bose at this stage, and the additional functions and touch technology are quite advanced, particularly the right ear function tap and touch controls. She sometimes takes the Metro to work and says they work quite well in that environment. WiFi and Bluetooth enabled, and can also be linked to ITunes, Pandora, APPLE Music and Sirius. They are pricey and advanced in functionality, so they're for the more experienced audiophile, but well worth it for the best.

This item was a replacement for a pair of Bose noise canceling headphones that had worn out. The compact carrying case works really well, especially for a frequent traveler, like myself. The battery life is impressive, and I don't need to carry AAA batteries anymore. The headphones was charged once, and it lasted through two three hour flights without a hitch. The noise canceling feature works beautifully and the fit is very comfortable. An additional plus is the bluetooth link to my smartphone. Calls are seamless and the microphone works well.

There have been very few occasions where my expectations are dramatically exceeded when trying out a new piece of tech, particularly in the audio space. I consider myself an entry level audiophile with a ~$2,000 home audio/theater speaker setup, various high end wifi speakers throughout the home, but for some reason I have never brought myself to drop $300+ on a pair of headphones. I finally broke down and purchased these when I realized I would be traveling weekly for work and ultimately made the decision to purchase these over the Bose equivalents after extensive internet research. I have never been more floored by an audio experience than the first time I powered these on shortly after boarding a flight. After a few seconds when the phone bluetooth connects and the active noise cancelling activates, you are shrouded by an almost scary level of silence. 99% of the rustling around as people put bags in the overhead and get to their seats and 100% of the constant hum of the plane vaporized and you are left with absolutely crisp and clear audio. I have recommended these to ALL of my friends and family. Battery life EXCELLENT - i can go over a week before having to charge Sound quality WHOA Looks - sleek and simple Noise cancelling - what noise?

First off what an amazing pair of headphones! So many features packed into these which make sure you will have the best sound that fits to your liking. I am a pilot and am also a avid traveler and these are my daily driver for relaxing and drowning out the noise of not just flying but the sounds of everyday life. I loved these headphones so much that I purchased another pair for my partner and she uses them as much as I do! Highly recommend! Sound There been lots of reviews online about these it's no secret that the noise cancellation feature is superb on these it's also no secret that the sound is also superb and I found it to be accurate and pleasing to the ear no matter what kind of music I am listening to! The response time of the speakers are like magic to my ears, they hit hard and fast when I need them to without delay but they also are extremely clear when watching movies or just watching the everyday video. The features that come along with the app make your listening experience personalized to your liking allowing you to change every aspect of the sound. Hand touch features The hand touch features on the ear outside of the ear pads allows a quick streamlines experience allowing you to control everything you need to with just a swipe across the touchpad. There have been mixed reviews on the touch controls activating with no input in extreme cold, I live in Alaska and throughout this winter of using them almost every day while being outside, I can personally say they have never let me down. Comfort These have to be some of the most comfortable for fitting headphones I have ever worn. I wear them to sleep often to drown out the everyday noise of the city allowing me to sleep soundly and in comfort. The fit forms around your ears making a nice seal which doesn’t feel to tight but offers amazing passive noise canceling. The carrying case The case that came with it is beautiful it's a hard shell case with a textured finish an open net on the back where you can sleep in a charger or anything else that'll fit and also has storage for your headphones inside along with two more what I call vertical pockets for your charger cord or other peripherals

One of the best Over-ear headphones I have ever tested and owned. The noise cancelation is exceptional and the fit and feel is recommendatory. The headphones are best recommended if you travel a lot in. flights because they have exceptional battery life and they don't feel heavy after a couple of hours. the companion app is really good and has a lot of customization with equalizers and thus make them one of the best premium headphones available.

Very comfortable, even while wearing for extended timeframes. I wouldn't classify myself as an audiophile, but I do appreciate the sound quality of these. They pair easily to my mac and phone. The battery life has been as advertised. The noise cancelling is pretty good. Half star off because for two reasons. It doesn't cancel all noise, just most, and the one button for Google Assistant only works for Google Assistant if configured for it in the app. There is another function you can set that button to, but then that eliminates the ability to use the Google Assistant, so I found that a little odd. I could very well be misunderstanding the features and maybe had an unrealistic expectation for the noise cancelling since this is my first pair of headphones with that. All in all very very happy with my purchase. Loving them.

These phones live up to the hype! I bought these to replace my Sennheiser PXC 310 Compact and Foldable Noise-Canceling Travel Headphones that I purchased in 2010. I thought that just maybe improvements have been made in the past 9 years, but I was blown away at the comfort of these 'over the ear' phones as opposed to the 'on the ear' that I was used to. I was wary of the increased size for traveling, but the sound and comfort is worth the extra bulk. Also, more of the music comes through even when the noise cancelling function is active, especially the bass. WOW.

The Sony XM3’s are a great value headphone. Noise canceling is best in class, sound quality is very solid, they’re comfortable for hours at a time, good battery life. They hit everything you’d want for a pair of headphones, and they regularly go on sale for 200 or less. Absolutely worth the price.

If your thinking about getting Active Sound Isolating Headphones for the first time, I recommend going to a Best Buy store and trying them out first. Why? because everyone is different and over the ear headphone fit is a personal preference. That being said, for this type of headphone to work properly, they must fit properly and for your enjoyment, comfortably. I find these to be the best for me for every day use and for heavy sound environments. Earbuds or in the ear noise isolating can not compare to a good over the ear headphones. Pros Great fit for me. covers my ears without crushing them. if in a warm environment they will cause your ears to sweat but that will happen with any over the ear type and for good sound isolation you cannot use a velour ear cushion because of the dynamics. Music quality is the best you can get with bluetooth connection. I have not tried the wired connection yet. For sound isolation and noise canceling let me just say Sony has set the mark. I have 3 different sound isolating head sets or ear buds and these are the best I have. other than the one major Con, I find myself using them for just about everything, even while eating at a restaurant. With the Sony app I can adjust what I want to hear, voices, outside music, traffic. The touch controls for music take a little getting use to but work great. Another great feature, cover the right earphone and your music sound level drops and the sound isolation drops so you can talk or hear someone, remove your hand and back to the music. Battery life, I have worn them for almost 8 hours stretch and only drop them to just 80 pecent battery life. Con Biggest con, call answering quality. You sound like your in a tunnel or really bad connection. For all the great features, this just doesn't match up. might be my phone, Galaxy S-8, but none of my other headphones or earbuds have such poor quality for phone call voice. Another possible con, this headphone is not water resistant. I have not had any problems but Sony warns you not to let them get any moisture at all. For headphones that their main purpose is sound isolation you would expect them to be able to withstand possible light rain or high humidity but Sony warns you away from any contact with water including sweat. Overall, I am glad I spent the money to get these.
