I used these headphones on one of my Xbox One's for game chat and movies. The headphones are missing a mic which is a bit of a drag, but I have a Kinect for the mic. The audio quality on these is pretty good and I like the fact that it supports DTS. The fit is nice and comfortable. The base stations is really a little big and requires too much real estate to store. If you're looking for a comfortable pair of surround headphones, why not?!

    Gets the job done

I’ll begin with the good, set up was extremely easy. Just plug in the HDMI cable into the ARC port and these headphones are ready to go. The sound is decent with really good surround sound. They are comfortable to wear and it sounds as if you’re in a cinema. What I didn’t care for was the amount of echo I could hear in this headset and I couldn’t seem to find a way to make it stop. Also I think that a great addition to these would have been to include Bluetooth capability. All in all they do get the job done when you want to watch an action movie and the rest of the family don’t care to.

    Blast sound without anyone knowing

These were easy to setup out of the box. Charge the headphones and you're ready to go. Your sound system needs either an HDMI cable or optical digital. We used HDMI. The headphones don't come with an HDMI cable so be aware of that. The sound quality is excellent. I don't think any headphones will ever come close to beating real surround sound but these do a dang good job of emulating. Music of every genre sounds great. There are different settings which you can play around with to fit your needs. Movies are excellent. It really did feel like surround sound. I even paused once to make sure that the noise was coming from the headphones and not my house. My main use for these were gaming. Late night gaming sessions without waking the family will never be the same! Enough about the sound. They're great. All in all, these are excellent for those seeking to enjoy great multimedia without bothering family or neighbors. I think the quality makes this a worthy investment.

    Nice "home theater" substitute

These headphones are a nice substitute for the "home theater." I am an old school audio guy...with old equipment. I like to run my stereo and high-end speakers when watching a movie, but don't like the thought of dropping a couple thousand to replace my receiver and add center, rear, and subwoofer speakers. So...I grabbed the Sony L600 Wireless Digital Surround Headphones! First thing I noticed when I put them on was how much "stuff" I had been missing when watching shows. (Mr. Robot was my test show.) Not only do these headphones give you a good "surround" feel, they really enhance the background effects. And if you find the "enhancements" to be a bit much, you can select different listening modes via the headset itself: cinema, sports, game, voice, and "nothing." The base (which functions as the charger and nearly 100' wireless transmitter) requires power (and is ***not*** a usb power source; it has a proprietary power adapter) and has audio inputs for an analog stereo mini plug, HDMI and optical audio. HDMI supports ARC. There are no audio OUTs on this device. The headphones stay charged for a reported 17 hrs. I can't vouch for that as I always put them back on the charging stand when done. The headphones themselves are very lightweight and comfortable and block ambient noise well. (These are not noise canceling headphones.) I am not overly excited about the controls on the headset. The buttons are simple and easy to locate, but I have confused POWER with SOUND FIELD (both are same size but on opposite ends of the right ear muff) and wish that the volume was actually a touch sensor like you see in high-end over-the-ear headphones. I also wish these headphones could connect with other Bluetooth devices. For the money, it would be nice to be able to unpair from the L600 base and use these headphones with other devices like a phone or laptop. As a result, I took away a star simply because the only thing I can do is use these headphones with a "home TV" setup given I need to feed an output from a TV, blueray, CD player, receiver, etc. to the base station. As for the quality and comfort, though, these "theater"-style headphones are pretty awesome and are a great way to listen to your shows and movies without breaking the bank on a fancy, multiple component receiver/speakers Dolby audio system.

Ive had these for a couple of days now and so far they fit my needs well. My primary reason for getting these is that my wife is a night owl and Im an early riser. She likes to watch TV late into the night while I wake up at 4:30 every morning. The first night I tried these was while watching Game 6 of the Rockets vs. Warriors game. There are several settings that you can select based on what you’re watching. You have cinema, sports, voice and game modes. Each mode is specifically decide to enhance your listening experience. You also have multiple inputs that you can use with these headphones. This is actually a pretty great feature about these headphones. You can use HDMI, Optical or Stereo. These come with an optical cable, which is the method I chose to use the headphones with. Setup was easy, virtually plug and play and you’re up and running. The headphones were charged so I was able to use them right after setup. The weird thing about these headphones is that when I powered them on and i heard the audio in the headphones, i also heard the TV audio still. I ended up having to turn the volume all the way down on the TV and then I was able to use the headphones without hearing sound from the TV. I don't know if that's how they are supposed to work, of if works that way with the optical cable and would be different if I used HDMI. These are pretty comfortable and with the on ear design and 40mm drivers, the sound quality is pretty good, not great, but with Sony headphones I've always felt they sounded a bit "tinny". I wish this had some LED lights or something that lets me know how much of a charge is remaining. They also don't seem to power off automatically. I fell asleep one night while wearing them and my wife ended up turning off the TV and removing the headphones. When she woke up the next morning after I left for work, they were still on as she could hear audio through them. All in all these are a decent set of headphones. I think the price may be a little on the high side, but given that you have the choice of optical, HDMI or stereo inputs, im not sure there is anything else on the market with those options. Pros: - Comfortable headphones - Easy setup - Decent sound - Good range Cons: - Needs battery status indicator on the headphones - Headphones stay on unless you power them off. Even if they are inactive - Not noise cancelling Because of the connection options, range and sound field options, I would recommend these. If I could find something with similar options, I would probably give them a try though.

Listening to your A/V Receiver and TV

When I first picked up these I thought I could use them with my iphone as well as my TV and receiver but not a huge deal breaker as the sound quality is fantastic. I got these for my father in law as he has trouble hearing and sometimes when listening to the TV it can get to loud so we decided to get these for him. He really enjoys the sound quality and ability to listen to the TV as well as the CD player or radio. Very easy to setup. These headphones are over the ear and at first glance they look like they may get a little hot to wear over time but they are decent to wear if you are watching a movie.

Sony has made audio products in this country since 1955, there was no question that this would meet great standards. It's for my father who has a hard time of hearing but doesn't want to give up his surround sound either this is the meeting of Both Worlds I let him try it thinking it was just going to be okay for him but he was blown away. So I tried it now I'm thinking about buying a second one for me.

Headphones ok, large fit, not bluetooth

These headphones look great and the charging base works well, but will require some room to setup (probably next to or near your tv). The install was easy, virtually no setup. Plug the base into the wall, plug your source into the back of the base (an optical cable and power cord are provided), then press the power button on the headphones and you are ready to go. It switches between sources manually so you'll have to press the button on the base if you want to toggle from AUX to HDMI to Optical. It is geared to be used with a TV and not as a standard wireless/bluetooth headphone with a phone or tablet. But you can use it with any device if you plug it into the base using the AUX or other port. However your device will have to stay at the base and you are free to move around your house. The headphones fit a little large. They just barely fit me and I feel like my head is in the average range, so if yours is on the small size or for a child, this may be too big. The sound quality was fine, but I noticed it to be on the low side. I tried adjusting the device sound but never got to the loud range that I would like to see on the upper volume level. It may be due to the fit but it seemed like outside noise was a problem too. I had not problem hearing other voices in the room while wearing them. If this is something you want, then it's a plus for you. Since this is geared to work with a TV there are minimal controls on the headphones/base. So you cannot control much with them. All your play/pause, etc will have to be done with your tv or with the device you have plugged into the base. All you can control with the headphones are power volume up/down, and there is a 'sound field'. I did not test this out. The base also has sound settings like 'game, cinema, etc. I did not notice a significant difference in these, but only tried it out on regular TV and with my phone. Overall the headphones are ok. At the starting price I think they are too expensive for the features they offer. I'd like to see a better fit, higher sound range, and work wirelessly with a phone or tablet (without the use of the base, or at least the base could work wirelessly with a phone so they didn't have to sit next to eachother to use)

Sound Is Ruined By Hokey Sound Effects

The Sony WH-L600 headphone system is a digital wireless headphone system for enjoying sound from your television - it consists of a wireless headphone receiver with some controls that is paired with a transmitter that is tied to your TV either through an optical cable or through HDMI. The major selling point of this system is what they call “Virtual Phones Technology” - which is a like a pairing of sound placement and sound effects in the headset that simulates 7.1 surround sound with specific sound profiles for cinema, games, sports, and voice programs. The headphones are easy to setup and operate - and transmission is clear throughout my entire house. But, unfortunately, the sound effects in the headphones are annoyingly poor - the sound isn’t poor, just the virtual 7.1 surround effects. So in every one of the sound profiles provided for the headphones, the generic tiny speakers on my television sounded much better than what I heard in these headphones. The headphones obviously don’t have 7.1 literally inside them so they are using audio tricks to suggest speaker placement and effects - and the placement and effects sound cheap and hokey. The effects were most annoying in cinema mode where something sounding like an old analogue delay/reverb was added to make the sound spacious-y - but really it just sounded cheap and tinny. The terrible effects were a shame here - there was plenty of good sound in the headphones that was ruined by the processing - these can’t possibly be an improvement over even a relatively cheap bluetooth headset.

I would not give a 1 star had there been an option for "0 stars". Not a reliable brand at all. I had a different model of Sony headphones , and it broke by the hinge. Reached out to both US and Japan headquarters about the issue. Received a reply email stating that the Sony engineers agree that there is a defect with the product, but they cannot exchange it because it was out of warranty. If a product has a defect, and company admits it, then why does not matter what the purchase date it. Anyway I highly recommend to stay away from sony headphones in general.
