I wish Headphones had a better Sound. When trying to connect multiple devices it’s not good. You have to configure each one at a time. You can’t connect to multiple devices. The service ny application is very sensitive. Nosies Cancellation was not bad.
Phone feature was difficult to manage. Mic is place in a wired location.

This WI-1000XM2 is the first Sony product I'm not satisfied with, I had the WI-1000X before this one and I was expecting an improvement one but got very disappointed, It has less sound quality than WI-1000X, no vibration on phone calls and the microphone rubs during phone calls making noise on my ear and even higher noise for people on the other side of the call that's because the "smart" design that put the microphone on the loose cord!
I would never recommend it for anyone who is gonna use it for listening to music AND making phones calls.
I'm returning it the next day.

Better than the original Wi-1000x

First of all I will go into this saying this is an overall upgrade but do not expect it to be revolutionary. It's exactly what the name implies Wi-1000xm2 (Mark 2).
The noise canceling is better, I have not been able to hear the hissing you get with the original. It's more of a dead silence with no audible noise floor. Overall the noise canceling has been improved but it's mostly noticeable in the bass. The mids and highs have been improved as well but most people wouldn't notice any difference. You really have to do an A and B test. Back and forth with the same material or background noises. Please do try all of the tips to see which fits best. For me it's the large silicone tips. I found those to be the best at creating a great deal and when I pull them out it almost has a suction like feeling. That will give you the best passive noise isolation so that the noise canceling can do the rest. Overall I would say it's a nice improvement about 15% better than the Mark 1.
The neckband is more comfortable as I hardly noticed it was there. Feels lighter too, didn't check the specs though so maybe it's just me. The material feels cheaper in the sense that it doesn't look as premium but it feels very sturdy and well built. They've done a good job of making it look modern but simple. The controls will take getting used to as it now hangs on the left earbud wire. I'm not exactly a fan of it and prefer the old controls that were built on the neckband itself.
Now where this baby really shines is in the portability department as it now completely bendable and can become almost spiral like so you can fit in your pocket. The earbuds are also less deep so they are more flush with your ears. One of the big reasons I owned the original pair was because I am a light sleeper and I live in a noisy apartment complex where the walls are made of paper. With the original set on, I couldn't hear much so I would fall asleep. Problem is I'm a side sleeper so the backside of the earbuds are pointy and would create a lot of pressure on my ear canal. I would always tilt them just so they would angle off to the side but after a while it would still hurt my ears. By then my neighbors were probably asleep and I would take them off. With the Mark 2 these don't hurt me at all as they are flat on the backside and are practically flush with my ear so now I can sleep perfectly fine on my side for hours with them on if need be. Also they don't need to be connected with my phone via Bluetooth to stay on. It's a setting you can change within the headphones connect app. You couldn't do that with the original because they would turn off after 10 minutes of no Bluetooth connectivity. So I would have to make sure that the call audio was disabled to my headset while I was sleeping because even if my phone was in Do Not Disturb mode. It would ring very loud in my ear and scare me half to death. It just isn't possible to disable the ringtone on the headset.
The Mark 2 is now USB-C Quick Charge capable which means you don't have to have a thousand different chargers and cables with you. Same cable from a newer phone 2018+ (most phones besides iPhones use USB - C to charge) will work with this headset. Best part it gives you 80 min of playtime with only 10 min of charging if it's fully drained.
Now my favorite feature is the ability to use this headset with a regular 3.5mm cable that plugs directly into your phone, laptop, Nintendo, etc. Something the original could do but you needed a proprietary cable that had a micro USB on one end. The sound quality feels more or less the same as the original maybe just a tad bit more bass but overall it has a nice flat sound signature which you can change with it's EQ in the app if it doesn't suit your taste.
Overall I feel Sony has listened to the complaints and wishes of it's customers and given a well rounded device that I highly recommend. These are great for working out or just having a quiet moment while you commute to work. Or need a bubble of peace while you sleep (please don't do this if you are alone, as an emergency can occur and you'll be in sleep paradise).

Blue Tooth Connection Intermittent

The buds intermittently lost the Blue Tooth connection and would not immediately reconnect. They'd reconnect the next day but again lost the connection. This happened with two sets, so I moved to a different brand.

Pros
-Noise cancellation is to excellent
-Very light and flexible
Cons
-Microphone placement is awful
-Controls layout on wire is terrible
-Has a bug when connecting to i phone Bluetooth where you can’t pick up calls from headset and when you do pick it up it goes to your phone and not headset
I had the Sony wi1000x which I quickly had to get rid of because no one could hear me on a call and this was due to the microphone being only in earbuds. I then bought the new xm2 when they came out in hopes of a better product...well...
Main issue is that microphone is located on the control panel that you use to control volume and noise cancellation. This means every time you adjust the volume, your finger rubs against the microphone making a LOUD noise in your ears and also for the caller on the other end. It’s REALLY annoying.
Also the up and down volume buttons have the pick up, hang up and play and pause button in between them. And since all the buttons feel the same you WILL hang up on people when adjusting volume and you WILL stop your music when adjusting volume.
The microphone should be on the tip of the neck collar underneath your chin and the controls should be on the neckband with blank spaces in between with varying raised shapes similar to the 1000x. Your fingers should never need to rub on the microphone
Look manufacturers aren’t stupid They purposely introduce flaws in the design when they have feature that people want, in this case it’s the noise cancellation. They want to create iterations of the product and slowly improve their known flaws so consumers will buy the iterations because they “improved” something. They do this because it provides additional revenue over time as oppose to delivering exactly what you want and then there is no need to upgrade unless they break or a killer new feature is released. Wi1000x suck bad, wi1000xm2 suck less bad the wi1000xm3 will suck even “lesser” bad.
These are ridiculous design flaws that audiologist and designer know not to do, especially Sony.
These are NOT worth $300 with these basic design flaws. These are deal breaker issues. One star maximum
