I've had eight sets of headphones since I got my first iPod Touch in '09, and two of those have now been Bluetooth. These XB50BS phones are all you'll need for gym, Starbucks, running, work, anything, and here's why. The standard is the latest Bluetooth 4.1 w/ 12mm drivers and 4 - 24,000 Hz range. That's immense. The bass is the strongest I've heard on any Bluetooth device and are even lower than some corded sets. They're comparable to the newer Apple headphones for lows, so they definitely have that extra baseline. I can still hear trebles and highs, so the range isn't skewed to the low end. Granted, it's Bluetooth so when you have them paired and not listening to something, you're going to hear a little feedback from the receiver picking up the signal. When these get paired, turned on, or in sync mode, a female voice will call over telling you what stage you're in. This is convenient as my last Sony set only made beeps at different lengths. I don't believe there's a language feature for this, so it defaults as English. The buttons are on the right side's posterior edge. There's 3 buttons; one is for power/pause/pairing/call receiving. The two other buttons are for track skipping and volume control. Holding down the button for 2 seconds allows you to skip a track, pushing it repeatedly (or once) changes the volume. Obviously these are <- and ->. This is pretty standard, but I did notice I cannot "scrub" a track, i.e. fast forward/rewind during playback. The sides are soft vinyl, and the charging port is also located on the right side. The ear pieces are becoming even more complex these days. You have SS, S, M, L for silicone nipples, and this set also has two different silicone inserts for pseudo intra-aural stability. They take some used to placing in the ear, but they keep the buds from spinning. This set is the most noninvasive I've had seeing as it's a chord and two earpieces that are relatively innocuous. So you won't have to worry about "popping" the buds out of your ears with the chord inadvertently. Also, because they're silicone buds, ambient sounds go waaaaaay down. I can listen to them in crowded rooms as they phase out a ton of side conversations, even on lower volumes. I haven't tested for battery life or water resilience, but it's raining right now and they're doing fine. You can't douse them in the pool. Battery life is rated for 8.5 hours, but I never listen to music for that length of time. This set does not come with a nice little polyester pouch to carry them in, and the micro USB charging cable is two feet long. You need your own comp. or USB wall plug to charge them. Sony has so many headphones in circulation that they're trimming the fat on accessories. I earnestly recommend this set right now. Not only are they an improvement on later models, they're just about everything you'd look for in a convenient package. Great audio, easy interface, physical stability, innocuous, relatively rugged, and of course affordable. Pairing with my Gen V iPod Touch took six seconds. Highly, highly recommended.

Fantastic Sound, Long Life, and Comfortable!! 5 stars for those 3 qualities. For wireless buds, they have great Bass! Volume can get loud enough to be Too Loud. I use these for listening to music while working out. I workout 5-6 days a week for 1-2 hours at a time. I can go about 3 weeks before needing to charge them. And if I forget to charge the night before, I can charge on way to gym and get Enough to make it through that days workout. The buds are quite comfortable in the ear. I am probably using a bud that is too small for my particular ears bc I still like to be aware of my surroundings and not have hearing completely blocked out. The Only complaint I have, is that the cord that connects the buds, tends to pull to one side or the other during use. To the point that it will pull one bud loose. Other than a nuisance, this does not discount the quality of the buds. When I have answered calls while wearing these, callers do not seem to have a problem hearing me and I can hear them very well. Overall, an Outstanding set of buds!!!

Here is my thought of this headphone: Pro: - very good sound quality; good base and treble - fix comfortably - secured fix; doesn't get losse during movement - stay connected - good battery range Con: - relatively bulky, which is probably due to acoustic need, battery and various controls and their circuitry Overall this is a very good headphone in this price range

With XB50BS, Sony offers a light-weight, affordable, wireless, in-ear headphones that sound decent and particularly good with extra-bass mode. Battery life is comparable at approximately 9 hours at 50% volume. Another plus is the NFC link; just tap and connect. Since the headsets are not snugged with the ears and hang on beside the ears, I recommend using the ear tips and fins to secure them properly. If not hanging properly, they will fall off when walking or jogging. Also, they are not the most comfortable if you want to lay down and listen. You will not be able to lay on your side; these will hurt your ears.

I bought these mainly for workout in Gym and they are good for that. What's good is that they sit firm and dont slide out. They do block noise pretty well, but not like some of the specific noise cancelling headphones, but good enough for me. They have AWESOME BASS and to my ears, it has plenty of mids and highs. I just really like that it has a bit more BASS than other headphones out there, which helps to completely immerse into music while working out. Honestly, they are very bulky... but, surprisingly comfortably sit in my ear. The default rubber ear buds and arc supporters are perfect fit (i did not have to change them to other included sizes). The controls on it are OK, meaning, they are integrated mostly with controlling the player with songs physically on the phone, but i mostly listen from youtube and those controls mess things up rather than controlling as expected (next/previous/pause). I only ever use volume control and nothing else though. Pairing up with my iphone is fast and never gave me any issues. So, I like them and would recommend them.

I love wireless headphones. I like to be able to walk around the house and listen to music or even audio from a streaming video and not have to worry about a dangling cord that catches on everything. In the past few years I’ve had the pleasure of testing out many different styles of wireless headphones and wireless ‘sport’ headphones are the most challenging for me to like. They usually don’t fit me very well - even with the different sizes of ear gels - and they constantly fall out of my ear. Because I can’t find a ‘good fit’, I don’t get a good sound. So I tend to shy away from the ‘sport’ style wireless headphones. When I got the Sony Wireless Stereo Headset MDR-XB50BS with Extra Bass, I was hoping that these issues might be alleviated. At first glance, I was surprised at how large the main earpiece is. On the right ear, you will find a power/multipurpose button along with the volume control. You also charge the headphones from this side from the Micro USB port that is hidden on the underside. The headphones do come with a variety of ear gels and ear wings to help with the ‘fit’. So, one of the first things I did was swap out the gel and wing for a smaller size. The one that came pre-installed was just a bit too large for me. The switch did seem to help quite a bit, but because I’m not very used to in-ear headphones, it took me a little while to get used to them. The headphones comes with a full set of instructions along with a visual quick start guide. The first step is to pair the headset to your phone or other Bluetooth enabled device. I connected it to my iPhone 7 and then turned on some music. The multipurpose button works well for playing and pausing music and the volume trigger also works as an advance track button if you press/hold it for a couple of seconds. I have to say that once I got used to the ‘feel’ of them, the sound quality was quite impressive. A lot of headphone users end up complaining that in-ear headphones like this don’t have the best bass quality, but these Sony headphones have an above average bass volume. I tested this out by turning on a Hip-Hop mix station on Pandora Radio and listening to a few tracks. There is a nice bounce to the music without making your ears rattle. It’s a very nice balance between treble and bass. Overall, I liked these headphones. I am still not sure that these headphones are for me as they were never really ‘comfortable’, but I think the sound quality is much better than other wireless sport headphones. I did find that the ear gels can pop off quite easily. At one point I took the headphone out of my ears and one of the ear gels came off the earpiece. They are good headphones, but I think they will work best for someone that already likes sport headphones.

I was looking to buy a wireless headphone to use it with my new iPhone 7 and came across this product. As stated by many, this headset has a good bass output and sound quality. Very comfortable to wear and doesn't fall off from ear, so ideal for listening to music while you are in gym or travelling. This product has good battery life, currently battery is lasting for 8 hours while I use for answering phone calls and listening to music. When I pair this headset with my iPhone 7 via bluetooth, you can see headset battery indicator on the iPhone screen. Only negative point on this product is, it cannot be used to answer phone call because placement of mic is on the right ear piece, Person on the other end of the phone call can barely hear your voice. One alternative to use for making phone call is to remove right ear piece and keep it close to your mouth while answering phone call.

The sound quality out of these is shocking. They're fantastic. Really amazing. (As a reference, I just wrote another review for a pair of noise cancelling over the ear headphones, and the sound quality from these blows those away.) These are not noise cancelling, but the ear bud tips do a relatively decent job of isolation. The controls are fine and responsive. I've never had a problem with connectivity. The weight and bulk is a little on the big and heavy side, but somehow the balance is like just right. I don't quite understand how something this big, hanging that far out of your ear, doesn't fall out while you're running, but somehow they just don't. I would also say they're comfortable enough. I run in them, and can wear them for a couple hours or more, but they do start getting a bit uncomfortable. Battery life is good at 6-12 hours typical. The only down side is the mic. It's awful. Everyone told me that I sound like I'm under water, or perhaps just really far away from the mic. If you need to, you can make these work by taking the right earbud out and holding it in front of your mouth while you're talking. That seems to work acceptably well, but don't try to talk with them in normally unless you want to yell the whole time you're on the phone.

I've bought several sport-style headphones over the last 20 years. My ears don't seem to hold ear buds in place, so I tend to go for over-the-ear varieties. They generally lack bass, so this purchase was intended to solve that. These headphones are the best bass of any others I've purchased in the $50-$75 range. They're also comfortable and the battery lasts quite awhile. I returned them recently because the power button fell off. I'm not sure how, but it did. I could still power them on and off, but I had to get my fingernail in there just right. Luckily Best Buy had the product replacement plan, so I got the same model again. Overall I'd recommend. I'm not sure how much better the Sony model is that's one level higher, but at $100 price jump, I'd say you get a great sounding set with the one I chose.

In the context of quality and value in this price segment, I give these 5 stars. I recently returned another quality brand set because they just weren't loud enough, and didn't keep out external noise. Not so here. Excellent bass, pretty good volume, and a great fit. Nothing hanging except the tether cord because the batteries and electronics are right in the earbuds. Typical Sony quality and design excellence, easily paired with my iPhone, and keep out the wind noise when I am biking. Supposedly have some degree of sweat/moisture tolerance, and never get in the way when I am biking, working out, or just moving around in the house. No problems with disconnects, either. I highly recommend.

I was looking for an economical, but not cheap set of Bluetooth headphones. I read some really good reviews on this pair from Sony and decided to give them a try. So far I am very impressed. The biggest standout for me is there an unusually nice bass presence in these ear pieces. It isn't overwhelming, but it certainly adds depth to the listening experience. The volume is loud enough to use while working outdoors and they seem to stay in place with moderate activity level. If I had to point out a negative, I have lost connection once or twice with no explainable reason for it. It is easy as turning off/on to resolve, but still an aggravation. Overall, I am very pleased for the price.

I have tried many headset for running and workout nothing can really beat this Sony - XB50BS Extra Bass Sports Wireless In-Ear Headphones. I tried bose soundsport, power beats, jaybird x3 and freedom5. Sony quality is so much better most importantly is so much cheaper (on sale now $39.90). Since is so affordable , I actually bought a COMPLY eartips for this headphones and is unbelievably awesome with the xtra bass. Better buy now while is on sale.

Great Bluetooth headphones, I really like the way they sound especially extra bass that depth what you want to hear in headphones. About ten years ago I bought corded Sony headphones with extra bass and I like them a lot, but now Bluetooth technology improved a bit so the quality is pretty good with wireless headphones to, I tried Beats and don’t feel like overpaying for name and not as great sound as Sony.

Been using this for 3 months now and my opinion is as follows, it has good quality sound and the battery life is pretty good. Fits perfectly and stays in place. I found only one issue, every time I'm in the city (Manhattan) for some reason there are areas in the street where the connection will get interrupted not completely but it only happens like when I'm in the middle of a big intersection don't know why. Besides that small issue I like everything else about it.

I am not an expert on headphones but It I hope this review can help someone looking for a good pair of Bluetooth earphones. Also I was only using the apple EarPods. Pros: 1: I love the bass 2: comfortable in my ears (the hook feels weird at first but then you get use to it 3: noise canceling 4: the price 5: the brand 6: easy pairing Cons: 1: The buttons set up 2: no magnet (to hold the ear set together when they are resting on your neck) 3: no case or bag holder After all I would recommend this ear set to anyone looking to upgrade from your ear pods (going Bluetooth)

These Sony’s are awesome. The sound is superb and the bass is redicuolous for music designed around it. After having a bad experience x2 with beats I turned to Sony. Was not dissapointed. These things are rock solid. The few downsides are these: 1. They are somewhat bulky sticking out of the ear,but that may account for the awesome bass. 2. Get insurance since Sony decided not to include a nice hard case I broke an ear piece with them just stored in my back pack. 3. Remember to change to the earplug that fits your ear. The standard one is somewhat large and you won’t hear anything else but the music lol

Overall, I'm happy with these earbuds. Syncing bluetooth to my phone was very easy. Reconnects to my phone every time without fail. Comfortable. Haven't had a problem with them staying in my ears. Sound quality is very good. Plenty loud. Bass is strong. Some might think too strong, but I'm happy with it. The only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5, is the battery life is shorter than stated by Sony. Around 4 hours, not 8.5.

I love this headset. The bass is the best I've ever heard in in-ear headphones. Good battery life. My only complaint is the microphone. It's on the inside of the right earphone, so it sits against my cheek and muffles my voice so people can't understand me. But that could be just my ears and a bad fit. I have small ears and it's very difficult for me to find an in-ear style that doesn't hurt. These come with 4 different sizes of earbuds, and 3 different sizes of wings. Finding the correct combination takes a few tries, but once I did, they don't hurt at all.

I've tried several Bluetooth headsets and I enjoy this one the most. They sound great and most importantly they simply work. Pairing is almost instant and the battery lasts a long time. The Sony sound is alive and well in these and I've found I enjoy that sound. It's more of a V curve in the equalizer. The bass is pronounced but not overpowering. You can still hear the mids and the highs. Is it a clean flat sound, not even close but usually people complain a neutral sound is to flat for taste. The extra punch makes some songs come alive in a way. As far as fit and finish the headphones are made of plastic and are of the usual quality in that regards. They come with different sizes of buds and seem to fit well in the ear. I've never had a problem with them coming out but I haven't exercised in them either. Overall I highly recommend these.
