    Good Connection

I wanted a set of bluetooth headphones to use when running, because I see other people listenning to headphones when running, so I feel I should be doing the same thing. Being a lazy and socially avoidant I went to Amazon and ordered some headphones with the most reviews and most stars because more stars and more reviews is more better. Well the headphones arrived and I was able to use them with my phone but there was a problem: it kept dropping connection. I get an incomming call: dropped conection. I get a text message: dropped connection. Some guy with a potent bluetooth device walks by: dropped connection. I turn my head to the right: the connection stutters. After a couple of days of this I get fed up and order a more expensive set from Amazon, because more money is more better. Well the short story is the same thing happened and all I learned in life was to not to believe Amazon reviewers becuase they are either a bunch of cretins or clandestine advertizers. Not wanting to try the online thing again I go the local Best Buy to look for a set of Sony headphones. You see I got a large pair of Sony over-the-ear bluetooth headphones for Christmas and they have a solid connection but you can't run with them without looking like a complete tool and also sustain a neck injury carrying that weight on your head. So having good luck with Sony I figure if they made a set of running headphones they would would also work since the Japanese make good stuff. After finding my way to the headphone section of Best Buy I come across entire shelves of bluetooth ear buds. This must be a popular market and it looks pretty fast-moving so this review will probably only be relevant for a couple of months. Anyhow to my surprise I find there are two different Sony bluetooth earbuds available: a more expensive pair with an athletic guy on the cover and a less expensive pair with an attrative young woman on the cover. I got the cheaper pair because I'm frugal. I included a picture of the cover in this review to prove that I am telling the truth: not that I bought the product but that the woman on the cover is indeed attractive. She also looks like she could be one of the many runners I pass by so I related to the box. When I got home I realized however that maybe I should have went with the other box. Being a male maybe I was supposed to get the one with the dude on the cover because the ones I got were for females only. Well fear not males out there as I can attest to you that the earbuds fit perfectly fine in male earholes. For some reason the right bud felt like it wanted to come out but it never did and it was best to just ignore the sensation. I was worried these things would fall out when bouncing up and down as I ran because they were about the size of Uhura's ear-prop from the original Star Trek, but after taking them out on a 2-hour run I can say they stayed latched to my ear canal just fine. And yes that "2-hour" comment was a plug on my running prowess although when you think about it running is a "sport" which only requires that you can put one foot in front of the other. And how was the connection? Well not once did it lose connection and I got 2 straight hours learning both Scottish and Spanish listenning to Coffee Break Spanish from my phone. So if you are looking for something with a good connection and are looking for a review that comments about the connection then look no further as these earbuds have good connection. I'm trying to game the review search indexer if someone searches for "connection" by the way. Connection.

I am using these with an iPhone 6s on IOS v. 10.2 1) The headphones are much cheaper than the Bose counterparts, and the quality is very good. 2) They come with multiple ear "adapters" to custom fit to your ears. Once I changed these, the bass was significantly deeper and richer. 3) The battery lasts a long time. To put in context, my previous pair of bluetooth headphones would get a full charge and last 2 workouts and quit half-way through the 3rd workout. I have used this Sony pair for 4 workouts and the indicator is showing the battery life is still at 70%! 4) As mentioned above, I use these for workouts; there are no issues with sweat or decrease in performance due to sweat. They also stay in my ear very well during workouts. I'd highly recommend these!

The earphones are very light in weight and it feels good to use them especially during workout. The bass is really good and it stands well upto its name. Battery performance has been good and I dont see any change in one year.

These headphones have a great sound quality and are very comfortable in the ear. They look bulky but are actually very lightweight while being worn. Decent battery life, although they don't seem to have any kind of auto-shutdown function when not in use. My only major complaint is that I often wear one headphone at a time (at work, etc) and these are not good for that style of wear - the free headphone will dangle and pull on the other one. Good overall.

I love these headphones. The sound quality is great! The battery lasts me almost all week and I use them about 2 hours each day at the gym. They have been covered in sweat and still no problems. Great bang for your buck!

They have great sound and bass, at 50 volume i was able to cancel out all the outside noise when I was at the gym. They look bulkey but feel light weight. They're comfortable and do not jump out of my ear when I'm working out.

I just purchased two Bose Soundsport (wired) taking advantage of Thanksgiving sale but were really disappointed with the sound; I tried this Sony Bluetooth at the same discounted price ($40) and what a difference! Returned both Bose and got two Sony. To be fair the Bose is not a sound isolating type which makes a big difference, but the Sony added the Bluetooth which will be a plus when I replace my Iphones for the 7 (won't need an adapter). It is a little bulkier due to the electronics but still confortable. Using the right ear plug size (comes with four) also makes a big difference in the sound and confort. Splash and sweat resistance are also a plus. My wife uses hers everyday at the gym. Highly recommend it.

The color is very bright, the boyfriend loved them. I bought a pair for myself first and he liked them so much, that I bought him a pair too. Stays in your ears very well and the sound and bass is way better then expected for just earbuds

Let me start by saying that I've used a lot of headphones over the past couple of years for travel, quiet listening, and most importantly while exercising. A couple of headphones that I've used in the past include: 1. Sennheiser PX-100 II (Used to be my go-to headphones during travel due to their portability) 2. Sennheiser OCX 685i Sports in-ear headphones (Used to be the headphones I use during workouts) 3. Audio Technica ATH-M50x (Brilliant reference headphones for quiet listening sessions) 4. SOL Republic Tracks (The best bass heavy pair of headphones I owned that just made me enjoy music by giving an in-the-club feeling) 5. Sony MDR-AS800AP Active Sports headphones (I tried these based on the Wirecutter review and can surely say that they replaced the Sennheiser OCX 685i as my go-to sports and workout headphones) The Sony MDR-AS800AP became my favorite pair overall because they were in-ear, easy to carry, had the most amazing sound profile with good bass, slightly recessed mids, and good treble - essentially a slight V sound profile that I like and helps me keep pumping during workouts. Unfortunately, my brother took those from me which is when my search for the next best pair started. I wanted to try various bluetooth headphones but didn't want another piece of hardware to charge regularly on top of my phone, smartwatch, tablet, Surface etc. However, based on my need and after reading many reviews I finally bit the bullet and tried the JayBird X2 Sport Wireless Headphones and the JLab Audio Epic 2 Wireless headphones. I was hugely disappointed by both of them, coming from the Sonys. The JayBird X2's had a very sharp V sound profile and were not loud enough with no mid-bass at all that balanced the sound out. On the other hand, the JLab Epic 2 had a decent sound profile but was marred by the continuous disconnection and skipping of tracks even when my phone (Samsung Galaxy S7) was in my pocket. I felt as if the jump to bluetooth headphones wasn't warranted right now. I checked on the Sony website and found that they had released 3 new pairs of bluetooth headphones: MDR-XB50BS, MDR-XB80BS, and the MDR-XB70BT. I might be the probable first customer on Amazon to have ordered these headphones and had high hopes for them based on my previous experience with Sony Sport headphones. And boy - did they deliver! These bluetooth headphones are fantastic, to say the least. Their sound profile is similar (and maybe a tad better) than the MDR-AS800AP. The extra bass feature is actually there and delivers oodles of oomph, maybe even more so than the AS800AP. It's definitely a V sound profile but I listened to a few vocal tracks and found nothing to complain of. The treble and bass shine while not sacrificing the mids at all. These are definitely going to help me go that extra length during my workouts. Also, I tested the connectivity on these and it's nowhere like the JLab Epic 2's. I roamed about in my apartment and there was no skipping or stuttering of music. Voice calls were clear and loud too with the person on the other side not finding anything to complain about the quality of my voice. The headphones come with 4 pairs of earbuds and 3 arc supporters to help find the perfect fit and unlike the behind-the-ear type of sport headphones (which tend to dislodge the earbud from the ear canal and therefore have to be readjusted every few minutes), stay put even while running, jumping rope, doing push-ups, or bench presses. They are comfortable and I wore them for 3-4 hours straight without any discomfort. I would be conducting some battery run-time tests soon but for now, I must say - Sony has once again blown me over with this product. It sounds wonderful, is comfortable, fits well in the ear, has amazing clarity for voice calls, has a good bluetooth connectivity range and has totally changed my outlook on good wireless, sport headphones. I would recommend them whole-heartedly to anyone who is looking for a great pair of wireless sport headphones.

Okay, so I've had lots of ear buds. These are my favorite so far. They are large, but comfortable. The sound is perfect. I've had double drivers, and triple drivers, but none compare to these 12mm Sony headphones. The battery lasts me a full work day, and they're simple to use. I should've stopped buying cheapies a long time ago. I listen to metal and the bass is perfect. There's no way 6mm drivers could compete from other expensive headphones.

I had been looking at these for a while determining whether to buy them and finally decided to when I seen them for 39.99 I’m pretty happy with them at first I didn’t think they’d stay in my ear but the do surprisingly well even with moving around I didn’t buy these for workout headphones or anything like that just for temporary headphones for work while I find a Powerbeats replacement I wish these had some type of hook like Powerbeats because I can only wear them in one ear at work and have to loop the cord around my other ear so they’re not dangling but I bought them knowing I’d probably have to do that overall they have great sound great bass as well and the price was very good so I’ll be keeping these as backups and whenever I find that replacement to my powerbeats

I purchased these at Christmas. Ended up getting 3. The sound quality is very good and the extra base, well my daughter appreciates it. Lol. Also, it came with different size ear buds, so it was easy to find a good fit. It connects easily to my phone. It is comfortable and I don't have to continuely push it back in my ears. I think for the price these are great!!!

I've had these ear buds for over a year and used them quite frequently. At first, I was in love. I thought the sound was great. They were surprisingly comfortable and stayed solidly in my ear even when I was sweating through summer run. They also seemed to hold a charge forever. (Honestly, it seems like they almost never require charging.) I have very small ears so the ear buds with the over-the-ear hook never lined up right for me. These were perfect. HOWEVER, recently they've become extremely hard to keep in my ear. The Arc Supporters pop out of place and twist backward while you're inserting the ear buds and sometimes do it after they've been set in place. I find myself constantly having to fix one or the other while I'm exercising; which is infuriating. It's especially frustrating because all the controls are on the right earbud, so if you're messing with it all the time, you keep hitting the volume and power control buttons. I've actually considered gluing the arc supporters to the ear buds to keep them from twisting backwards. I still might do that. Outside of that, there is so much to love about these that it almost pains me NOT to give them a five star review. If Sony could fix the issue with the arc supporters, they'd have a great product.

These really do sound good. The only reasons I didn't give them a 5 star is that I am still having some difficulty adjusting the right ear piece to fit properly. I put on the larger ear cushions and ear hook pieces. May just need to return that side to the medium size. The cord that attaches the two sides and rests on the neck would also be improved if it had a cloth like braided covering. Sometime it will stick to my skin and pull on an earpiece. I was concerned about the controls as the switch for volume adjustment also controls track selection. But it has not been a problem at all. Volume is raised or lowered with a single press where one must hold the switch down to skip a track. Works just fine. These are an improvement over my previous headset in that there isn't a bunch of stuff flopping around on your neck when in motion.

This is my second pair of Sony xb50 headphones. I lost my first pair when I was at the gym. These headphones for $50 are a bargain. I had purchased a more expensive pair of JBL headphones to replace my previous Sony xb50s and ended up returning them because compared to these the bass on the JBL was non existent. The ear inserts provided are pretty comfortable. I have an issue with earlobes not fitting well and so far I’ve had good luck with Sony. The headphones stay in my ears while running and don’t slip out and the buttons are pretty easy to use. For the price these headphones have great sound and last.
