I have the smaller version and I can charge it and dont have to have an outlet it plays with or without the cord being plugged into an outlet. Had I known, I never would have bought it.

Speaker Dead In 19 Months

It's disappointing that a Sony product can't even last 2 years. I expect a lot more. Sony only offers a one year warranty on the product. Sony's quality is not what it once was years ago. Now I'm out $350.

Bluetooth & Sound Problems

I don't think the one I got was working properly. The bluetooth would disconnect even when I sat my phone 3' away. Two times in 0ne hour. It would not reconnect, I had to reconnect it again manually. As for as the sound...it sounded good rarely. The extra bass wasn't that noticeable, no punchy bass. The rest of the time it had a buzz, static like it was having problems with the BT connection and it would eventually lose the connection. I'm a Sony fan and have quite a few of their products and I'm happy with the rest but this falls way short. I tried it with a USB drive and the sound still wasn't that good. It is supposed to make the music sound better but this also wasn't that noticeable. I liked the lights. Hopefully your experience will be better and the one I bought was just a bad one. I can't recommend this speaker because it didn't do what it stated it would.

Also trying to figure out the settings was a bit of guess work especially fine tuning the audio quality.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always preferred Sony when it comes to audio because their equipment isn't overhyped and overpriced, you pay for quality. The Bluetooth connectivity from your audio source to the XB7 is a snap and considering the size of the speaker (it's not little, but also not at all cumbersome), you can play bangers and hear them loud and clear from a pretty good distance. I bought one for when I'm hosting parties and it only disappoints for one little reason: The party chain feature must be connected by audio cables. I would absolutely get another one if they could connect via Bluetooth so I could play the same music from outdoors and in. Overall very pleased, turn it up loud enough indoors and it'll be heard outside, believe me.

Used it maybe 10 times and stored it as recommended. Was planning cookout this past weekend and could not get this system to power up. Followed the soft reset options, still wouldn’t work. Call Sony 800-430- 4433 spoke with a supervisor named James whom refused to provide me with any corporate contacts. This system cost me $299.00 two years ago and now they want me to ship it off to be repaired out of my pockets. They offered no help with this cost. You would think a company like Sony would be better and stand behind their product. I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER SONY PRODUCT AND YOU SHOULDN'T EITHER.
