Thank you for taking the time to review your SRS-XE300 speaker. We're sorry to hear it hasn't performed to your standards when it comes to the sound quality and volume level. We want to make sure you are getting the most out of your speaker. By downloading the Sony Music Center app, there is a built-in EQ that has 20 points of control for Bass, Midrange, and Treble to tailor-fit the sound quality to your needs and ensure optimal performance with the speaker. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.

If the sound is too low or the bass sound can't be heard, check if the Ambient Noise Sensing function is activated. Please note that when the Ambient Noise Sensing function is activated, the speaker detects environmental noises during the music playback. This function will help reduce power consumption and preserve the battery by cutting out bass sounds that will become hard to hear because of the ambient noise.

You may also find these steps helpful:

-Turn up the volume of the speaker and the connected device.
-While the speaker is running on power from the rechargeable built-in battery, the sound may become low in the event that the rechargeable built-in battery is running out of power and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction.
-Make sure to charge the built-in battery sufficiently.

When it comes to audio quality, this function can be adjusted on the Sony Music Center app. Additionally, there is a built-in EQ that has 20 points of control for Bass, Midrange, and Treble to tailor-fit the sound quality to your needs. The “Priority on Sound Quality” and “Priority on Stable Connection” preferences are available on the speaker for the BLUETOOTH connection quality. The “Priority on Sound Quality” preference provides compatibility not only with SBC but also with AAC and LDAC* for music playback of high sound quality, whereas the “Priority on Stable Connection” preference enables music playback via more stable BLUETOOTH connections.

We are sorry to learn you're having Bluetooth pairing issues with the speaker. The SRS-XE200 requires the A2DP Bluetooth profile for Bluetooth playback. If you're unable to pair the speaker with a BLUETOOTH device, please follow the steps below to help troubleshoot this issue.

• Place the speaker and the BLUETOOTH device within 1 m (3.2 ft) of each other.
• If the (BLUETOOTH) indicator is not double flashing in blue, press the(BLUETOOTH) button. You hear voice guidance (BLUETOOTH pairing) and the(BLUETOOTH) indicator starts double flashing (pairing mode).
• If the speaker is not displayed on the BLUETOOTH device, turn off the BLUETOOTH function on the device, and then turn on the BLUETOOTH function again. It may improve symptoms.
• If the issue is still not resolved, change the sound quality mode from Priority on Sound Quality to Priority on Stable Connection. To change the setting, use the Sony | Music Center app to select Settings → Sound → Bluetooth Connection Quality → Priority on Stable Connection.

On the other hand, there are songs that have really low bass sound and barely being heard when played. Raising the volume on both the speaker and source device could help.
