    Good mid-ranged phone

The Sony Xperia is a decent mid-ranged phone, with some minor setbacks. Fisrt off, I’ll start with the design and build quality. When you first hold on to the phone, it feels pretty good in your hand. It’s not too heavy and the slimness, makes it easy to use one handed. The shell is made of, what seems to be a type of metal, and the screen is built with the latest version of gorilla glass. In other words, this is a very durable phone. The power button and volume buttons are located on the right side, as well as a fingerprint sensor (which works flawlessly). One of Sony’s biggest features on this phone, is the iteration of the 21.9 display screen. The screen looks amazing, coming in at 1080p full resolution with very bright and vibrant colors. The 21.9 is good for a few reasons...Watching movies look really good, plus the 21.9 makes it easy to use one handend. There are some drawbacks to the super wide screen though. For instance when watching youtube videos, or anything that wasn’t recorded in 21.9, the screen either has black bars on the left and right side, or if you zoom in - crops off a lot of the picture. Another annoyance that I’ve come across, not all apps support the 21.9 screen. Therefore, it won’t fit your screen. The phone is equiped with 3gb of ram, a snapdragon processor and has androind pie installed out the box. I’ve tried many different games and apps, to test how well it performs, so far everything runs smoothly. Sony also implemented some audio tweeks in the phone, with some processes that can make compact audio files sound like they are HiFi. This actually does work really well. Music sounds amazing through Bluetooth headphones. The built in speaker on the other hand, come up a little flat. The camera is a little weak in my opion, nothing that great. But it does let you record in 21.9 aspect ratio, which is nice. Overall, this is a great mid-ranged phone. It comes packed with more features than I have time to list. Along with a great screen quality, as well as amazing sound sofware - I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone. Especially seeing how phone prices are now getting out of hand.

    Decent mid-budget phone from Sony

Let me start off by saying that this is great budget phone with almost every feature that other high end phones provide. However, there are some limitations, specially the camera quality. In today's world, when companies do everything that they can to offer a top notch camera specs, Sony has definitely failed here. It took me very little time and efforts to set it up. The phone did not come charged. So first thing I had to do after taking it out of the box was to charge it, which took a while to fully charge. The phone itself is quite slim and ridiculously tall. It's more pronounced than I had imagined, having used another fairly long smartphone. I own an iPhone XS Max but this phone still felt bigger in terms of height for first few uses but eventually, I got used to it. Picture quality, resolution, clarity, colors, etc. are excellent. 21:9 aspect ratio allows for less scrolling, but not worth due to the size inconvenience attached to it. If you are into watching extra wide screen movies on your phone, then you will really enjoy this aspect ratio. Unlike most phones, the sensor is on the side. This phone is quite thin, so you can imaging how narrow this sensor could be. It works very well, but not always. It has a dual sim capability. I like the fact that it is 5Ghz Wi-Fi capable, so the streaming of videos and gaming are better. And of course, the 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi is also supported. Besides that, it comes with Android 9 Pie running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, which makes it a very fast smartphone. And it has a wide high quality and clear display. It also uses mostly Android apps, and the Sony apps included are not bothersome. One can use them, or disable them without problems. The USB-C type connector for charging and data transfer is a great feature. A charging cable is with a USB-C type connector on one end and a USB-A connector on the other end is supplied together with a wall-charger to use with it. Overall I think it is a good device, with the exception of handling inconvenience due to the form factor.

My initial impressions on this phone was it would have a good screen but decent specs considering it’s point. I wasn’t wrong m. It’s 2019 and it’s still using the snapdragon 630 which is ok but could of gone with a newer chipset. It also only has 3GB of ram which makes it kind of sluggish if you have more then s fee apps open. Otherwise I find this device to be fine with Android 9. It works with most carriers with except sprint, decent screen and a micro sd card slot so for the money it’s a decent phone but there is better sold

This is a nice unlocked smart phone for those looking for something different. 1. Watching movies is very nice I Must say that 21/9 is nice wno letter box. The battery is good but not great may need a 3200 ma battery instead of the 2800 it comes with. 2. I have t-mobile service and it auto connected with my sim card no need to set anything up which is super nice. 3. Whiles it's no flag ship phone Sony has really took some time to make this a nice phone for the general masses. Good finger print reader Good cameras front and rear. Not great for low light just as a warning. Does not scratch easily and no glass back to break. Takes a bit. To get used to new os look and feel. I'm coming from. A note 8 updates come pretty fast also.

Android Pie 9.0 is a plus. The only problem is on this platform it's sluggish at best. To be transparent I currently use a S9 and the OS is slick and quick. The phone is tall and feels good in the hand. The battery life is quite good, but you're sacrificing computer power for battery power. Not a good trade off in my opinion. The camera also underperformed in all but ideal lighting conditions. Pairing with Bluetooth was easy and not as slow as I've read. The problem is the XPERIA 10 acted like it had never been paired with my Honda before. It took 3 days before that issue resolved. Boo-Hiss. Let me be honest. This is a good choice for someone who doesn't use the toys, bells and whistles of the industry heavy hitters, but still want a sleek easy to read screen. Here's the deal breaker for me. Good luck trying to find a high quality leather cover or screen protector. You would think a company like SONY would want to put out a high quality product, but I guess the back of the pack doesn't matter. Sorry SONY, I love my A8F but this is a big time miss.

From the beginning I didn't expect much when the sim card tray didn't remove the MicroSD Card holder like it was supposed to. Unfortunately it has just went downhill from there. The phone is one of the slowest Android phones I have used in years, I would not call this mid-grade at all. At $350 I expect so much more! The camera might as well not exist, and any apps you load will be almost unusable. The only saving grace is the nice design and screen, and if this was a $99 phone then maybe it would be worth it. Very disappointed!

I’m using this Xperia on T-Mobile, I just put my SIM card in and was up and running in short order. The phone is a tall slim bodied device and feels good in the hand. That where the positives end. The Xperia is an underpowered, mid range affordable, device. I used this phone for 3 days and that was enough. First and foremost, the camera is just awful. In bright light, like outdoors it is ok, in low light, this is a very poor performer. Way too much pixelation. I took a picture of my dogs brown coat indoors, mid afternoon, and it was bad. The brown coat had red, green and yellow pixels that were just horrible. At 100% crop, just a colorful mess. The second issue, is the screen response, it is almost unusable. About 50% of the time it is fine, the other 50%, it takes 4-5 tries to get any response. This is not acceptable on a new device in 2019. Bluetooth connectivity is frustrating. I tried connecting to my wireless earbuds, a Bluetooth speaker and my car. Each time it took way too long to establish a connection. The earbuds took 3 tries to connect, the speaker took at least 5 minutes to connect. Each time the phone did not recognize the speaker, finally after the last time it connected, but this should be much quicker with today’s technology. Lastly it took several minutes to connect with my car. After connecting and trusting the device, I thought all was good. Well it was not, I had to re-pair twice, and once paired it was fine, until the next time I got into the car. It would not connect, just searching and searching but no connection. Finally I got fed up with it and switched back to my regular phone. The Sony Xperia is just not worth the frustration, look elsewhere, there are much better Android devices available.

Sony has a lot to learn from the budget phone line. Nokia got it right with their mid-range Nokia 7.1 and so did Motorola with the Moto G line. The Xperia 10 is a great concept just poorly thought through.

Slow phone with numerous issues. Screen scratches easily, the internal DAC gives poor quality sound, no better than any non hi-res. Processor is slow, it takes time for eveything to open up. Screen also changes brightness on its own even after all smart brightness options have been turned off. Battery life is incredibly short, have to charge it at least couple of times a day.

*not verified review, as it was ordered in my wife’s name. After 6 months, the phone would intermittently lock up, requiring reboot. Sent the phone to SBE (Sony repair facility) who claimed the phone had water intrusion. Absolute BS as it’s been in a case since day one, and never dropped in water. It was a mediocre phone anyway. Spend your money elsewhere.
