I've seen the new (Nov/Dec) Pixie 7- cuts out background, and Samsung S21 - great night shoots but I love Sony's strong history of making all cell phones cameras. As normal it takes a little time to learn fast setups. But did get a one shot perfect pic.

Good Screen response and colors were vibrant. I enjoyed having a led for notifications like my old S8. Battery life was great. Bad Phone was more narrow, harder to type and video viewing was lack luster. Weird double notification bars when notifications would arrive. Camera shots in auto mode was worse than the LG G8, manual mode was decent but even then shots had a hard time being clear, in zoom the most. Video modes were decent. Call reception was worse than my LG. And audio through speakers and aux lesser quality. I was excited for the Sony, but in hand I was not happy.

I might be in Central Florida, but I shouldn't be throttled to a 60hz screen because the phone is too hot to use in the shade... On a cloudy day outside, in November! I've bought every compact model and some bigger models dating back to the z5 compact. There were times I dunked my phone in ice water just to use the camera outside. Too often I'm holding it in front of the ac vents in the car. I have to download a temperature app to monitor the cpu and battery temperature. I kept buying them because of the form factor and vanilla skin. Moto does well with being like stock android too. None of their phones overheat, but I also can't put them in my pocket. Look, EVERYTHING is great about the phone with the exception of the heat that will occasionally burn your hand or face. The camera app warns of "serious burns due to heat." I mean cmon... Is this phone equivalent to McDonald's coffee? One more thing to note, it does NOT connect to band 77 on Verizon. Not sure why, I think it's because it's 5g Na vs 5g nsa. It'll show a 5gUW icon, and boast high download speeds, but my pixel 6a on a lower tier plan beat it everytime. Upload speeds were useless. Maybe I had a bad modem in the unit? Also, most cases are coming from China because there just aren't options for it here in the states. Plenty for the 5 iii though. I'd proceed with caution if you want to purchase this phone.

The Xperia 5 IV supports 5G sub6: n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28, n38, n40, n41, n66, n71, n77, n78. For network issues, turn off your device and then turn it back on. By doing this, you turn off all running applications and free up memory, which sometimes automatically solves those connections issues. Move to another area and try again. In areas with poor reception where there may be issues with your network provider's base station, you may experience unstable connection.

Only downside is that if you are transferring from a Samsung phone you will have to find 3rd party solutions to certain apps provided by Samsung (voice recorder for example).

They are similar but have certain trade offs. For one, i prefer the shape of the s23, this phone is a bit skinny which shrinks the keyboard. As for the os, it lacks certain features such as the ability to adjust notification and ringtone volumes separately. I also wish there was a true rugged case for this but i understand the difficulty due to the fingerprint sensor placement on the side. Fingerprint sensor is very nice once you get used to it. Camera seems to be of excellent quality. As for the reception it's hard for me to judge but i think i may have had slightly better signal on my s23 in certain areas. Music is wonderful to listen to on this thanks to my 1 tb sd card and aux port. Overall this phone does everything i need and i hope Sony continues making great quality phones like this with sd card slots and aux ports.

The screen is smooth, clean and responsive. I've noticed less figure print smudges on the screen and the back which seems to be a matte finish. THE BATTERY LIFE IS AMAZING! Especially with the multiple apps I have running in the background. The photo and video apps from Sony is very encouraging to get into content creating because of the quality. Its really impressive even from surrounding friends and coworkers I show, would agree. This phone is great for content creators and perfect for me. Great job Sony!

Fatal flaw in memory management ruins phone

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Poor system memory management ruins the phone experience because the OS keeps killing apps like music playing in the background or, especially in a heavier app like snapchat, repeatedly kills the keyboard app so I am stuck for several seconds trying to constantly reopen the keyboard in hopes that I can eventually type something. Serious usage like switching between multiple apps while listening to music will end with either the keyboard issue or your music app getting killed leaving you with a sudden stop in music playback for the frustrating keyboard issue. I would have returned the phone if I wasnt outside the ridiculously short 14 day return window. I'm not the only one with the issue, as you can check the xperia subreddit and the bug thread has multiple instances of the memory issues with many users replying to the posts with similar issues. Otherwise the phone has excellent battery life and when it isnt killing critical apps like my keyboard, it is a very fast phone with excellent video recording apps like their video pro and cinema pro apps. But is any of that worth it when your music playback keeps stopping and your phone is basically a brick when you cant use the keyboard?

The main reason I went with Sony this time over a Samsung, was that it 1. Still has a SD Card, 2. Still has a headphone jack. These were 2 items that I wanted in a phone, and Samsung removed them so I no longer consider Samsung phones in my purchase decisions. The only items I don't really care for on this phone, 1. The camera app does make the phone get hot quickly. Sony needs to address this. If it gets too hot the camera will shut down. 2. The LED flashlight is very dim, almost can't use it for a flashlight. I've had other phones where this LED is very bright, so I'm not sure why Sony couldn't have done this too.

Easy to grip, it has 3.5mm audio jack and an micro SD card slot. No need to buy high end phone just for capacity. You can use the point and shoot camera but the photos would be better if you know how to use the manual settings like in a Sony camera phone. Didn’t get that hot for me when using for more than an hour of hotspot data when traveling. I just wish Sony Xperia would release a mini form factor that can rival the iPhone minis. Android doesn’t have flagship spec phone that has the same size as the iPhone mini.

Great screen quality, great audio (ldac, aptx, headphone jack, etc), great camera, expandable memory. Tolerated it resetting once a day but it has lately been doing it on work phone calls so no bueno. All suggestions including factory reset didn't help the random resets. Phone is now out of warranty and will be looking for another brand.

This blew the S10e away in performance. Unfortunately my thumb hurt so bad from trying to stretch it to the very top of the screen to reach the notification bars, and other various buttons. Hurt for a week, and returned this. Back to using my Galaxy S10e.... Really wish company's would make a smaller microSD phone.

Great phone, not compatible with Verizon, Buggy

First, it does not work with Verizon. The service is poor compared to other phones I have had and the VOLTE (voice over calling or internet while calling) does not work hardly at all. Sometimes I can search things while on call, but most of the time it will not pull anything up. I called Sony and they said it is the service provider (Verizon). I called best buy and they said I got a bad phone and recommended a repair shop because they don't work on Sony phones. The shop said it was likely and issue with the service provider (Verizon). I have used this phone with Verizon, and US mobile (Verizon MVNO) and it has the same issue. It will not work at all with Visible (Verizon owned VNMO). The phone is also buggy. Thumbprint scanner will not work when phone is on the wall charger. After owning for over a year it freezes at times and I cannot close out google maps. I need to swipe down on the top of the phone and open another app and then I can open the apps menu and close it. Lastly, no one wants to trade a Sony Phone. Even Sony doesn't give any trade credit. At least with other carriers you can get a new phone for 500-600 with trade. Sony you have to pay the exorbitant price every time. The battery is great, screen is great, thumbprint scanner is nice, phone jack is awesome.

The phone is very narrow and long. It is probably 3 to 4 inches narrower than my Samsung S10 phone and it is longer by 3 to 4 inches, and it looks as 6.5 inches phone. I can live with longer portion, but being narrow and long, it does not look that well.

The size alone makes it exceptional; you can operate it with one hand! Sont finally got what no other manufacturer could comprehend, size matters! No body with any reasonable sense wants a wide phone, capable of falling from your hands. Apple phones are slowly failing in the marketplace and with Android phones holding 71% of the worldwide, they needed a good cell phone front and center and the Sony Xperia 5IV is the front runner! Size, battery life, charging, minimal downloaded apps, colors, one has it all. Prior to finding this jewel, I was using a Samsung Galaxy S22 purchased a few months back, it wasn't worthy of the trash can I dropped it in after setting up this phone! If you need a phone, search no longer, this is your phone and with it comes the respectability of a phone, not a huge brick up against your head looking like an idiot!
