Customers express satisfaction with the Xperia XZ2's camera, praising its ability to take crystal clear pictures. The phone's battery life is also well-received, with users describing it as "top notch." While some find the design simple and clean, others criticize the phone for being slippery. I’ve been an iPhone user for several years but after using this phone for a few weeks it’s clear to me that the gap between Android and iOS has narrowed significantly. Most of the apps (besides ones proprietary to Apple like iMessage) are available on Android. In fact, there are a few apps that I think are better on Android, due to the open nature of the platform. The best thing about this phone is the fact that in two weeks of use I have not had a single hiccup with it. I’ve used the phone to make calls, send texts, play games, and stream movies. The Snapdragon 845 processor in the phone absolutely flies. The large screen although not being as high of a resolution as some other flagship phones or OLED is an absolute joy to look at. While the slim bezels help to keep this phone small enough to fit in a pocket. I love that this phone supports PS4 Remote Play. Yes, I know it’s technically possible to play on most Android devices but the Xperia line is the only phone where it’s actually supported. This is great for traveling when you want to play your PS4 remotely. A DualShock 4 controller simply pairs with the phone via Bluetooth. The camera on this phone is top notch, as you would expect, considering Sony makes their own image sensors, a lot of them being used in competitors phones. However, it is a little puzzling that it does not have a dual camera set up like the iPhones, Samsungs, or other flagship smartphones of 2018. The images are good but could be better with the depth or optical zoom that a dual camera setup can provide. The battery life is very good for a phone of this size and the wireless charging works as advertised and charges fast. No complaints there. Now for some downsides… It’s a beautiful piece of hardware but very, very slippery. It’ll slide off almost any surface that’s not completely level and flat. As I found out when I laid it on a towel on the bathroom counter and seconds later splat…it was on the floor. Luckily, it did not break but the screen did suffer some minor scratches. Since then, the screen has suffered some more scratches from an unknown source. Knowing this, it is basically a requirement that you get a case and screen protector for this phone. However, finding accessories for this phone can be a bit challenging. At the time of this writing, there are very few available. Secondly, the fingerprint reader is in a weird spot, even after weeks of use, my index finger is still fumbling with the camera to unlock the phone instead of the touch sensor. It doesn’t help that from a tactile perspective they both feel exactly the same. I think it would have helped if the camera was at the top of the phone, and the fingerprint reader be in the location of the camera. Pros: Large Beautiful 2160*1080 LCD Screen Glossy Jet-Black appearance Very Fast Excellent Camera - 4K HDR Support - Slow Motion Dedicated Camera button - hold to open camera PS4 Remote Play 64Gb onboard memory with support for expansion with microSD Wireless Charging and Great Battery life. Water and Dust Resistant Good speakers that support Dolby Atmos and dynamic vibration Unlocked (GSMA) Good software; little to no bloat Cons: Fingerprint reader in awkward spot Curved Back is very smooth and slippery No headphone jack No dual camera like most other flagships Little choice in accessories The competition for Android flagships is fierce and overall this is a very good phone. If I was going to buy another Android phone this would probably be it. I’ve not been happy with Samsung phones in the past due to their wonky software. The Xperia provides a good blend between stock Android and Sony customizations along with excellent hardware. The only issues really are lack of accessories and if you can ever get used to the fingerprint reader. Otherwise I’d recommend to anyone!

Love the feel in the hand. Great size. Screen is also pretty good, not as good as OLED. Camera is average. Pretty stock software.

I am enjoying my new Sony Xperia XZ2 phone. The size is virtually identical to my previous phone, just a 1/4 inch slimmer. It's amazing that it can make such a big difference in your hand but it does. It's much less a brick and it is possible to use it one handed if you really try (and have decent size hands). The very first thing I noticed is it's weight and build. It felt solid. The next thing I noticed is it is slick. Really slick. I don't mean cool slick, I mean slippery. The front glass is like, well glass. The back is probably some kind of plastic but it is really slippery. It didn't matter if I set the phone face up or down, if there was the slightest incline on the surface it's put on, it will slide off it. Definitely plan on getting a case for this reason. The final thing I noticed right away was the placement of the on/off button. It's squarely in the middle of the right side. It seems like a really unusual place for that button. I kept hitting it as I picked up the phone. Now that I have a case, the button is somewhat buried in the case so it's not bad but if you don't put on a case you may be cursing the placement. According to the specs, the screen has less resolution than some of the competitors. While that may be true, I don't feel like it matters. It's bright and clear. I can easily read text and pictures look great. One of the things that drove me nuts was the fingerprint scanner on the back. It's placed near the camera so I kept putting my finger on the camera. This issue seems to be diminishing as I use it more. Also the case has been helpful to allow my finger to find the large hole and know that's the scanner. I really like that more things are starting to use the scanner to unlock. It's a lot easier than a bunch of passwords. The speaker volume is more than adequate but like all small speakers, it's a bit tinny. Sony has added some Dynamic Vibration for your music. For me that was nothing more than a marketing item. It didn't do anything for me and I didn't feel like I was "into" the music more. The camera does really well. And before I talk about the camera, Sony has placed a camera button on the lower right side of the phone. Depress it and it will automatically open the camera. I like that. Now, as for the pictures, I'm completely happy with the images I'm getting. I haven't done an outdoor night shot but lower light levels indoors haven't proved to be a problem. The only thing I find missing from the camera is a HDR setting. Videos are very nice on the phone as well. It shoots 4k and full HD up to 60fps. The quality isn't quite what I get off my action camera but viewing on the phone it looks great. Then we have super slow motion. It works really nice. My only complaint is that it's so short. It seems to capture about a 1/2 second of activity. The higher your resolution, the less you can capture. So 720p might give you a capture of say 1/2 to 2 seconds of action while 1080p might go down to 1/4. It was fast. I don't know exactly how long it captures but you press the button and almost instantly it says it's done. The results though are amazing! You ever see a hummingbird in slo-mo? I don't know much about the internals of the phone but everything ran nice and snappy. Let's not forget it's a phone! I had no problem on phone calls. Everything sounded just fine. All in all the phone does what I want it to do. Surfs the web, takes pictures and video, runs apps fine, and ya, it even functions nicely as a phone.

Premium Sony Android Experience - Perfect for Pics

Solid, well-built phone, though there are not any notable ground-breaking features that I deem as must have. I recommend it if you are someone looking for a premium Android smartphone that has excellent photography and video capabilities, or if you are looking to utilize dual sim functionality (for international travel use, etc.). There is a smaller version of this phone, called Compact if you want similar features but a smaller design. Pros: -Excellent build quality. Feels solid and dense in the hands. Back has a slight curve to it so it rests comfortably in your hand. It feels like the phone is made from one block of glass, rather than several pieces put together. -Front and back of phone is covered in Gorilla Glass 5 -IP65/68 water resistant rating - protected from dust and can be submerged in 5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes -Dual-sim capable - great for using another network internationally or keeping a second phone number (business, etc.) -64GB memory - microSD expansion up to 400GB available (purchase separately) -Excellent camera - 19MP, can film video in 4K HDR, 960FPS (frames per second) super slow motion in HD/Full HD. Easy to use, very intuitive point and shoot function. -Fast charging - Get about 30% boost in about 20 minutes of charging and is wireless charging capable -Fits in with Sony eco-system - easy to pair with Sony TVs for screensharing, use PlayStation controller on phone to play video games Cons: -No 3.5mm headphone jack on the phone. Many new smartphones are removing headphone jacks. Sony is no exception. (USB-C to 3.5mm adapter comes in box though) -Works on GSM only, not CDMA - meaning Sprint, Verizon, Boost, and Virgin Mobile users will not be able to use this phone. -Large bezels along top and bottom of phone -Fingerprint scanner/button is located on the back of the phone - which I am not used to and feels awkward to me. -Battery gets drained quickly by the display -Dynamic Vibration is hit or miss - feature vibrates the phone when watching video - similar to how video game controllers vibrate when certain things happen while playing the game -Case and accessories market not as large as other smartphones -Comes with bloatware (pre-installed apps that you cannot delete) -Curved back means it can be hard to use while resting flat on surface as it rocks back and forth
