Affordable quality wireless earbuds

Verdict: These earbuds are simple, capable, and affordable. I use them daily for calls and for mild workouts, but I do wish they had better passive noise cancellation and that they fit more snuggly so I could use them for all my needs.
Initial impressions. The case is really small! The earbuds are also small and sleek. The case has a USB C connector, and it is wireless-charging capable.
App. The Soundcore app that is available with these earbuds is actually very good. It allows for the customization of touch controls on the earbuds, it provides nice equalizer controls, including “BassUp,” which kicks up the lows to adequate levels, and it includes ambient sounds for sleeping or concentration… nice! The app also has a “find device” feature, which will play a high pitch sound from the earbuds, potentially allowing you to find an earbud if you are near enough. There is also a game mode that reduces latency, cool!
Sound. Overall sound quality is great. High and mids are solid out of the box. I felt lows were lacking, but with the “BassUp” option in the Soundcore App equalizer, I am pretty happy with the lows for most music genres. Given how small, light, and fairly inexpensive these earbuds are, I think the sound quality is quite impressive. Of note, call quality is one of the best features of these earbuds.
Controls. Touch controls are limited out of the box, but all controls can be customized from the Soundcore app. I am fine with the OEM controls since these are the things I use most, but most people will probably want to add volume up/down touch controls as well, which can be done from the app.
Things I love:
- Super easy setup
- Extremely comfortable because they just sit in your ears without much pressure
- Very good range; I could walk around freely without losing Bluetooth connection
- The case is very small
- The charging case ensures that the earbuds are always charged
- Really great app that extends the capability of these earbuds
- Pretty good sound given how small they are
- Great performance on voice calls
- 5 hours continuous listening suits most situation, and if you need a boost, 10 min of charging will give you an hour of listening
- The case is wireless charging compatible, nice!
- Voice assistant is easily accessible
- IPX5 Waterproof. This is great for sweaty workouts and using them outdoors
Things I don’t love:
- Passive noise cancellation is inexistent; noise from surrounding environments easily interferes with what you are listening to. The lack of passive noise cancellation is a missed opportunity to make these sound even better
- These fit my ears, but they do not feel secure. I feel comfortable wearing them around the house and for mild weight-lifting sessions, but I don’t think these would do well for high impact activities or other sweaty cardio. Including optional rubber inserts for a more secure (and quiet) fit would improve the experience
- These earbuds do not auto-pause music when you remove an earbud
Conclusion. These earbuds offer lots of value for their price range. They sound very good, they are comfortable, they work well, and they can be customized to your preference. Perhaps with the exception of noisy environments and high impact workouts, I recommend these earbuds for a great and affordable wireless listening experience. Overall, I give them 4 stars, rather than 5 stars, only because they can't fulfill all my needs, and so I must still rely on other earphones for cardio, and for my noisy commute.

A solid pair of mid-priced TWS earbuds!

The Soundcore - by Anker Life Note 3S Earbuds True Wireless In-Ear Headphones is the latest model of the Soundcore Life Note series of true wireless earbuds. One thing to note in this pair of earbuds aside from the stems are that these dispense with the silicone eartips and went to Apple-like shaped earbuds. Now some of you may or not like these being similar to Airpods but that is matter of personal choice. One may notice though is that this pair of TWS earbuds are extremely light and gives a plasticky and less than premium feel to them. That said, once put on your ear is that they feel not existent in your ear. And there is a decent amount of noise isolation with these in spite of the absence of silicone ear tips. Furthermore, there seems to be a firm fit of the earbuds in my ears. This is achieved by the twisting of the earbuds to secure a firm fit.
The charging case comes with some welcome upgrades. First is the replacement of the older micro-USB charging port with the newer standard USB-C charging port. A separate cable is included in the box. And for those who prefer to ditch cables, the charging case is wireless capable charging case which is becoming a standard of TWS earbuds. But at this price point, this is still quite hard to find. Inside the charging case now includes a pairing button. This makes it very convenient to pair the earbuds with another audio source. The earbuds boast of a run time of five hours and the charging case can give you an additional six charges or a full 35 hours of power which is enough to last you almost a week under normal use. And if you are in a pinch, a ten minute charge can give you an hour’s worth of listening. Clearly, the feature set of the charging case is one that you’d find in more expensive TWS earbuds.
The Life Note 3S true wireless earbuds has 13.4 mm oversized drives with enhanced bass boost for a fuller sound compared to other earbuds. And if that still doesn;t satisfy you, the Life Note 3S is included in Soundcore’s music app. It has 20 sound presets a bass boost button and Soundcore’s signature sound preset with a customizable equalizer to boot. If that doesn’t meet your audio needs, I don’t know what will. But what is nice in the app that this particular model has added features such as left and right earbuds battery indicators. Also, enhanced touch controls are included with volume controls a feature not included in other Soundcore earbuds. If you’re into mobile gaming, the app now features a gaming mode which offers reduced latency. And last it has ten white noise settings with timer which helps you sleep rest and relax. Definitely these are features found in high end earbuds. These are definitely nice additions to a mid-priced pair of TWS earbuds.
Lastly, Life Note 3S true wireless earbuds have 4 microphones with noise reduction technology which offers clear calls though I am not sure if the Life Note 3S clear voice capture (CVC) noise suppression technology or some other similar noise reduction technology used for calls. Regardless, voice calls are quite clear on this model.
This is definitely a feature packed pair of TWS earbuds at mid-ranged price. It would be hard to pass up on this one if you are on a budget. I’d definitely recommend this pair of earbuds.

First impressions-
Well my first thought was ‘these don’t fit well at all’.
That was because I was trying to wear them like other earbuds that fit snug in the ear canal. These new Soundcore Life Note 3S earbuds are designed to sit back in your ear and project the sound forward into your ear (Soundcore’s zero pressure).
This took a while to get used too. My ears don't have a very deep cup for the earbud to rest in (see pics), so I wasn't sure how these would stay seated.
After wearing them for a few weeks now, I will say they stay in pretty good and are very comfortable to wear all day. I almost forget I have them in when not playing music. I basically use them at my desk and around the home and really appreciate that I can also hear things around me much better. No more people sneaking up on me and scaring the heck out of me.
I don’t think these are designed for any rigorous activity. If I try to wear them to work out, they will have a tendency to fall out.
Suggestion to Anker - Perhaps instead of the glossy plastic material they used they could have used a more rubber (sticky) material to help them stay in under higher activity.
Sound-
With this new style of fit I kind of expected a tinny sound, but I was a bit surprised as the sound quality is very good. They sound even better when you select the BassUp option in the EQ section of the Soundcore App.
The Soundcore app offers -
- Equalizer with preset sound setting and you can customize your own.
- Gaming mode (reduce latency and enhance sound)
- Controls – Customize SINGLE TAP (I assigned Volume- to left and Vol + to right), DOUBLE TAP, HOLD for 2s
- Superior Sleep – play sleep sounds like rain, waves, birds etc.
Calls – There are 4 mics for clear calls. I will say the sound quality is amazing. I have not had any complaints on the other end of the call either. I use them with my cell and with my computer via Microsoft Teams. (One at a time as they don’t support multiple connections at one time)
Battery - I run them OFF and ON throughout my workday and they last all day. Grant it, sometimes on standby. I would say the advertised 5 hours of playtime is accurate. You can also put them in the case to recharge for an add ‘l 30 hrs. of battery life. You can charge for 10 Minutes to get another hour of listening.
Bluetooth connection is strong. I can walk almost to the other side of the house without interruption.
IPX5 Waterproof
Conclusion – These are a great buy for your home and office use where you don’t want full isolation for the outside world, but still want quality sound.

Was looking for a set of wireless earbuds that would compliment my Samsung phone without breaking the bank, comfortable and had great sound quality. I think I found that set of earbuds, the Soundcore Life Note 3S earbuds. They were small, lightweight, comfortable, great battery life and had great sound quality.
Sound Quality
Listening to music is really enjoyable on the Life Note 3S. Sound was clean and crisp while bass is deep, you can tweak the sound setting even further in the Soundcore app to suit you needs. Phone calls were clear and clean, my phone recipients said they thought I was talking directly in the phone. With other brands of wireless my people knew I was talking over earphones of some sort.
Comfort
These are one of the comfortable earbuds I've ever used, they are light enough where you forget they're even there. I wore these comfortably through a few hours working while listening to music, watching a few videos and taking a few phone calls. I did not feel any discomfort while wearing these. These are not really for exercise but light workouts, like walking or light jogging had no issues for that use but any more harder exercises might not be good as they might be dislodged.
Summary
These are light weight, comfortable, setup, easy to use and great sound quality. I would recommend these for anyone looking for wireless earphones for their android phones.

These earbuds are a quality build, which I expect from Anker, a giant with many electronic devices. The audio performance is very good. I am not an audiophile expert, but I like to listen to a variety of music genres. They have an excellent mid-frequency and a nice crisp bass. Using the Soundcore app, I get options to adjust the equalizer and bass. The Bluetooth range works as expected from a few walking distances. These buds are superior comfort to use, even for prolonged usage. Sometimes I fall asleep with them, and I later wake up with no issue. Note that you shouldn't sleep with earbuds. With the carrying case battery life, these earbuds have an insane playtime; I hardly run out of charge. I usually charge the case once or twice a week. The mics are better than most other buds, and one can hear the difference with definitely clearer calls. The shape of the buds got a nice solid grip that allows for the removal and insertion. I am delighted that the case uses USB Type-c charging connection cables; it makes my life much easier. The case design is simple, protects the buds, and is perfect for any pocket or pouch. The construction quality is good. Overall, these earbuds are excellent.

I thought I was done with the tipless stem style. But the Life Note 3S proved that there’s still life in this old design. In reality, there is nothing unique about the case. I do appreciate the matte black finish since it repels smudges and fingerprints and seems well built. I will say that the lid is a bit too wobbly, but the buds stay securely inside magnetically. There are a series of status LEDs, a USB-C port in the back, and a pairing button inside. It is reasonably pocketable.
The buds themselves are made of a combination of glossy and matte black plastic and seem well constructed. I clumsily dropped the case and the buds on concrete, and they took the hit rather well.
The shape and lightweight allow for easy placement in the ear and are relatively comfortable. While they’re stable, I could not keep them in my ear while doing cartwheels, and certainly when shaking my head. It’s not a deal-breaker, but worth noting. I did notice that the hard housing rested upon the inner ear and caused a slight soreness after wearing them for more than 5 hours, which is how long a single charge lasted. The case adds an additional 30 hours and the quick-charge feature is quite convenient. The case is Qi wireless charging compatible, which at this price is commendable.
Sadly, I am a tad disappointed that these buds cannot control some functions such as volume, which is very important for me. You can only control playback, skipping, answering calls, and activate the voice assistant. It’s weird that there’s no single press option or automatic pause/play when taking the buds out. At least listening to one bud at a time is an option.
I could not verify the Bluetooth version, but I suspect is 5.0 at the least. Still, pairing was easy, and I was able to maintain a good connection while walking around my medium-sized apartment. I did not detect any sync issues when watching videos, and only an extremely slight lag when playing certain games -not enough to worry about.
The call quality is very good. While people can still tell I am on wireless, and the sound is a bit on the tinny side, I was heard clearly and had no hiccups. There was a bit of ambient noise being picked up as well as wind. Because these buds do not “plug” the ear, conversations feel quite natural.
The factor that truly makes these buds worth considering, is the natural, clear, yet full sound coming out of the large 13.4mm drivers. Sure, the bass is not as chest-pumping as closed earbuds, but it retains a rich, impactful, defining quality that is unexpected, considering the design. The midrange is on par with the bass, showcasing rhythm instruments, vocals, dialog, and sounds that usually get overshadowed in more mainstream buds. The treble is crisp and is not tuned too high, so there is no fatigue or harshness. There is distinct channel separation, and the open design gives a sense of a broader soundstage as if the sound was coming from outside, which I found great for FPS gaming. No matter what I listened to, they performed very well. Specifically, audiobooks and podcasts were a joy to listen to.
One must remember that the openness of the design does not block any ambient noise. However, the fullness of the sound covers it smoothly. There is also some leakage, so people will be able to hear some sound from the buds in quiet environments, so be mindful of that.
Soundcore does provide an app that is decent and provides additional customization, just in case.
While there are certainly some functional flaws, especially control limitations, and not everyone is into this design, the simplicity, relative comfort, and most importantly, amazing sound signature -all at a reasonable price, make the Life Note 3S definitely worth a try. I find myself reaching for them more often than not.

Good Little Buds - Great App Support

The Anker Life Note 3S are true wireless earbud setup with that fall in the mid-range cost wise. The 3S’s Jib’s come with the buds, USB-C cable, and the charging case. The 3S’s also have the Soundcore app to help you customize them to your liking.
The design of the Life Note 3S follows the design trend of a lot of other ear buds – twist in style with an arm extension that contains the mic. The charging case is very small – can easily fit in your pocket or toss in a bag. The case reminds me of an engagement ring box, but a little smaller and thinner. The case holds the 2 earbuds within and has a USB-C charging port. There are 3 LED lights on the outside that indicate charge and pairing state. Inside the case is a reset button in case the earbuds have difficulty pairing with your device or with each other. The buds are held in magnetically but are easy to remove when you want to take them out.
The buds themselves have a nice shape and look. There are no adjustable ear tips to fiddle with for better or worse. The outer side of the bud is made of a smooth matte black plastic. The portion that twists into your ear is made of glossy black plastic. You do need to twist them into place in your ear. The final position of the bud (how much you need to twist it) will depend on the size of your ear opening. A note to users with smaller ears – these may not be a good fit for you. My partner typically has to use the smallest ear tip size on other buds due to her small ear opening. The 3S’s didn’t fit into her ears at all – she had to force them and they were immediately uncomfortable. I use a medium tip size on other buds, and the 3S fit me just fine. I did have one bud fly out of my ear when I was at the gym – ball slams did not go over well. Combine the sweat and impact of that activity and the right bud just came out of my ear.
The earbuds have a 5hr onboard life with another 32hrs of life from the charging case. The onboard life seems a little short to me especially if you plan to wear these for long stretches of time. However, they charge quickly in the case so it should only be an issue for power users. I typically only wear buds for a few hours at a time (at most) so this battery life is perfectly fine for me. Pairing the buds the first time was easy and straightforward.
On first use of any wireless bud I always have to acclimate myself to the tap functions. I was very surprised to find that volume control was not one of these controls. Out of the box the controls are double tap – Play/Pause (R) and Skip (L), and answer a call (L/R). Holding for 2 seconds (L/R) will start your voice assistant or hang up a phone call. I was kind of disappointed with this setup because I have other Anker products and they were always intelligently configured. Where they saved it all was with the app. Opening the Soundcore app and connecting the 3S through it gives you a way to customize your buds. There are settings for the equalizer, a gaming mode (faster sound response but reduced battery life), controls, and a sleep mode. I didn’t mess around with the sleep or gaming modes, but I did play with the control scheme and equalizer plenty. I customized my controls to add volume control with single taps and moved some settings around that made sense with how I would use the buds. I’m really scratchy my head as to why it wasn’t setup like this in the first place – maybe they wanted people to avoid unwanted volume changes while they adjusted the buds? The volume control adjusts your phones volume – these do not have a separate volume.
One of the things to highlight was the call quality with these buds. There are 4 mics total – 2 pointed toward your mouth and the other 2 towards your surroundings. With this setup the buds do an excellent job filtering out background noise while keeping the focus on what you are saying. I wore these while at work, in my lab/shop, at the gym, and at home. Each environment presented its own array of background noise, which for the most part was well filtered out. Loud enough external sounds will come through, but it will be reduced and your voice will still be the main sound. In a perfectly quiet environment my voice came through clearly and plenty loud enough. The design of the buds doesn’t completely isolate you, so you can hear yourself talk.
Sound quality is better than I expected with a single drawback. Most music sounds great – very clear and rich. Toggling through the EQ’s in the app really gives you a sense of how much range these buds have. Mids and highs are excellent and some of the best sound quality I have gotten out of earbuds. However, the low end is somewhat lacking. Bass is there but it can come across soft – not all the time but across a portion of the low range the bass just falls off. Punchy bass comes through but it sounds a little pushed up on the frequency range. If you use the bass boost under the Soundcore Signature EQ in the app you will regret it. The bass starts to clip and sound sharp – you are better off not boosting the low end too much as these don’t seem to handle it well. I can look past this because the rest of the sound range is handled very well, and bass is something that small buds never do great.
The 3S’s have the ability to work in Mono (one bud in) and still keep most functionality – it depends on which bud you leave out. I configured my settings to be left ear for some functions and right ear for others. If I put away the left bud I lose the controls that I assigned to it – same goes if I put away the right.
The range on the 3S is pretty good – I made it about 40-50ft in my office before they started cutting out on me.
A major thing to note is the lack of any listed IP rating. Without this rating listed I would assume these will not last long if you intend to use them in the gym – I did once and I won’t do it again (IP rating and my popping out incident). They may list an IP rating later on but as of right now assume water will damage them.
Overall the 3S’s are a good little earbud setup. Mic quality was excellent. Sound quality in the mids and highs were top notch. The case is well made and I like the small form factor. The Soundcore app is fantastic and I was glad to see the 3S was supported. My only issues with the buds are the lack of the IP rating for those that want to use them while working out, and the bass not being as good as it should be.

Percussion instruments sound so realistic without blowing out my eardrums. Clean and clear voices. Charge and place in your ear for wonderful lifelike sound.
The smooth pods feel comfortable without any fancy extra fitting hardware needed. This can make or brake a good sounding hedset. If they don't fit right, you won't wear them.
You can still hear when they are not in use. Great for private phone call use or private music enjoyment. In todays zoom-teams world its nice to have more options for conferencing on the go.
I am so impressed with the quality of sound and ease of use. Newer C connector for fast case charging. At ;east three (3) recharges when on the go from the case's internal battery. Magnets lock the earbuds into their correct charging positions. Indicator LEDs show status of charge. In case reset of Bluetooth pairing.

I picked up the Note 3S looking for a small pair of in-ear headphones. The size is perfect for most people to use on the move. They are made of hard plastic and do not have the usual silicone in ear cushions that allow a snug fit. Because of that they can feel a bit hard in your ears. The Note 3S allows you to control basic playback of songs and answering of calls. The sound from the Note 3S is very full and almost bass heavy. Voices are clear when listening to music and making phone calls. Each earphone has a mic at the end of a small boom. You can also customize your Note 3S with the Apple app. These are strong mid-priced earphones that have good sound for the price.

I’ve had these for a few weeks now and what I can say about them is that they’re great. The sound is pretty good with actually noticeable bass. I have only charged the case once since I’ve had them and I have no idea what the battery life is because it always seems full.
My only problems with them is that the controls (tapping the buds) aren’t very sensitive - you have to tap the right speed and the right pressure or they don’t register. Sometimes you can feel the bud wanting to slip out your ear but I have yet for them to fall out with normal use.
Overall great product. I’m glad I finally found some actually good affordable Bluetooth earbuds.

The headphones are just too large and don't fit in my ear well. There is no attachment to change how big they are, so for me, they didn't work. These are significantly bigger than the Apple AirPods or earbuds I've used, as a comparison. If when you buy headphones you use the large attachment, these could be for you. The other issue I had is they don't exist in the app yet, so I wasn't able to try that out.
Unfortunately, size was an issue since everything else was great. The sound quality was really good for this type of headphones, and they easily turned on and off when you put them or take them out of the case. You're also getting a case that has a USB C charger, as more and more things move that way it is good when a new product uses that, and you get a cable too (no plug).
If you need large earbuds, then this is for you. But if you need small ones or have issues with plastic ones staying in your ear, then you may want to look at something else.

The Life Note 3S earbuds are surprisingly uncomfortable for a product that boasts “SUPERIOR COMFORT” in bold letters right on the front of the box. The earbuds are bulky hard plastic with no rubber tips. Because they are large and rigid they become uncomfortable rather quickly - which very much ruins the listening experience. ...It is quite common to hear people complain about the default apple earbuds because of their hard plastic material and design/shape. Well, the Life Note 3S are just as hard, but are much larger and more awkwardly shaped. ***See the attached pictures for clear examples of how the size and shape compare to Apple Airpods.
I used these Soundcore earbuds for over a week before opening the mobile app and, initially, I absolutely hated the touch controls. Surprisingly, the app genuinely improved the entire wearing, listening, and usability experience. The app shows an animation of how they are to be positioned in the ears and also shows an example of how to use the touch controls. The app screen even has a blue indicator that illuminates when the earbuds sense your touch - teaching the user just how to perfect their use. Thankfully the app also lets the user adjust the function of single tap, double tap, and long presses (for each earbud individually). There are also many preset equalizer options - as well as a custom option - that all clearly make a difference in the audio performance.
The Life Note 3S sounds great both for music and podcasts while call quality is merely acceptable. Though the earbuds feature 4 microphones in total, sadly there is no active noise cancelling mode or audio passthrough - which is a very useful feature that is becoming more and more common in Bluetooth earbuds & headphones. For the price they have a good feature set (great battery life, wireless charging, etc) and they sound truly great, but unfortunately I would hesitate to recommend them due to their low comfort level.

Great sound quality, battery life, and connectivity. Comfort will be different per person but for someone with smaller ears these are comfortable long enough to complete a workout or run and normal listening.

They don't hurt my ears when being worn. They connect automatically when I take them out of the case. Definitely recommend!

Sounds good though bass is not adequate. ANC could be better. However do as intended.

I was looking for an inexpensive replacement for some first generation AirPods that were slowly losing battery life. I have another Soundcore product (the Motion + speaker) that sounds very good for the price, so I thought I’d try these.
I’m not a fan of silicon or foam earpieces that block the entire ear, so I wanted a pair that fit comfortably without blocking it. These deliver. I can wear them for much longer periods of time than other earbuds I’ve used.
The sound is great for the price, but not perfect. It’s not audiophile quality, but it has nice sound throughout the lows, mids, and highs without being overpowering in any.
Call quality is great as well.
My only complaints are the touch controls are a little finicky and these buds don’t stop playing when you remove them from your ear. Still, for the price, it’s hard to complain about either.

I am really surprised at how great these earbuds sound!!! The bass is phenomenal and and the battery is second to none. The carrying case is very small and easily fits in my pocket with no bulge. I’ve had the AirPods Pro and 3rd Gen and these are by far, my favorites and they’re $100 cheaper! I love these buds!
