This has quickly become my favorite portable Bluetooth speaker, of which I own several. There are 4 things I really look for in a speaker - 1) Durability and Portability 2) Sound Quality 3) Battery Life 4) Fringe stuff like lights and apps 1) Its size is perfect for a speaker that you want to be highly portable, about the size of holding a 16 ounce can. , but it has a nice durable heft to it, unlike many other speakers that make you worried it will blow away if someone sneezes. It also has a nice rubber grip on the bottom ( see picture ) that I really like, it grips the surface really well as to not go flying off the table if someone bumps it. You can tell its quality just by holding it. Id bet that I could knock this in a pool and it still work after. 2) The sound, is amazing for something of this size. I've had speakers far larger, output less sound. The 360 degrees of output really fills up a room , and includes a surprising amount of bass for its size. It just makes a good crisp sound, that has a nice rich feel to it. 3) I ran this on battery for nearly 12 hours before it ran out of battery. 4) So the light show on this is amazing - I for one find it to be a novelty and not a reason I would decide to buy a speaker, but it has a better light show than much more expensive bluetooth speakers. The app is very simple easy to use, you can modify the light show, as well as change volume settings. Overall this is easily one of my favorite bluetooth speakers, its durable, sounds great, and highly portable. A+ for sure.

Small and easy to handle, the Soundcore Flare portable Bluetooth speaker is a wonderful little device with great sound. Out of the box, it took about an hour to fully charge the battery, which is done through the included USB cable. There is no 120V power connection. I attached the USB cable to a USB wall jack adapter such as would be used to charge a cell phone. Once it was fully charged, I turned on the unit, and in about five seconds I had it paired with my phone and playing music from Youtube. We had the unit playing Christmas music while eating dinner. As I noted, and as several others with me at the time observed, the sound is superb, with excellent base and a good volume range. The base of the unit illuminates with different colors of light that pulse with the music. Volume controls are on the top of the unit. There is also a mini-audio jack to play music through a wired connection, but the needed audio cable is a user-supplied item. If you want a portable speaker to play music or anything else from your phone or other device, the Flare is a great option. Highly recommended.

If you have no need for smart speaker, this is it. Easy to set up. App is very easy to use. Have not tested the waterproof claim, kinda scared. Not too much bass but very strong speaker to sound in a small apartment.

Com pared to other speakers that are priced similarly this easily takes the cake its bigger sounds better and has a light show on the bottom of the device

Anker’s SoundCore Flare Portable Bluetooth Speaker blew me away! Wow! Talk about amazing levels of sound coming from a relatively inexpensive, yet stylish, and compact audio device. A key aspect of this SoundCore speaker definitely worth highlighting, is the look of the device itself. The outer covering is a fabric type material, which screams quality to me. I really like the feel of this speaker. The grayish-black color is nice too, and that, along with the Flare’s compact size, should enable the speaker to blend in with nearly every decor. One of the most notable features of this SoundCore Flare is that the speaker unit is ‘fully waterproof’ (review instructions), so you can use it by a pool or bathtub, or even in a shower. The micro-usb charging port and plug for auxiliary cable (not included) are tucked behind a rubberized “door” which you want to make sure is snugly latched before exposure to water. Wireless pairing went smoothly. However, there were several times it appeared as though the speaker lost connection, and I had to check my settings. This interruption while listening to my music was rather inconvenient, but reconnecting via bluetooth was simple enough. The ‘on-the-top of the speaker’ controls, are pretty basic and straightforward, but that’s all they need to be - volume up/down, pause/accept&end call, lights on/off, and bass on/off. At the base of the speaker is the light ring, which can be set to ‘off’ or turned on for a colorful light display to beat in time with your music. Yes, there is a Soundcore app, which comes in handy for remotely operating this bluetooth speaker with the standard volume and pause controls, but also, for customizing the Light Effects and Wave Equalizer. Light effects include: Party, Energy, Chill, Bedtime, and Spring - and these can be further customized with the Glow/Breathe/M-Sync/Fusion functions. When using the Wave Equalizer you can add Extra Base, as well as, customize these settings with sliders for Bass/Midrange/Treble. I found audio quality via the speaker during mobile phone calls to be about average. But what most impressed me was the level of clarity and depth of 360 degree stereo sound, that this Anker SoundCore Flare was able to achieve. Truly great performance! Overall, I very much enjoyed my experience with this Anker SoundCore Flare Portable Bluetooth Speaker, and can assuredly recommend.

Bought this as a Birthday Gift, it really is a great speaker and also has a nice light display as well. Definitely worth the price!

I'm glad to be able to buy this speaker for my college-aged grandson. It was what he asked for and he was delighted to receive it!
