We just built a pool and as an audio fanatic, I wanted a nice outdoor stereo system. Regular outdoor full-range speakers don't provide enough bass, and there is a lot music in the bass range. So I bought this SpeakerCraft subwoofer and installed it in my backyard. I installed it in the very back middle. The manual says if you have a large backyard, you may need multiple subwoofers. We had just spent so much money on the pool so I decided to just try one subwoofer, even though we have a very big backyard. I don't know how big the backyard is, but out lot is 0.4 acres. We have a large slope in the backyard, but the flat usable area is still huge. I used low voltage landscape lighting wire instead of traditional speaker wire. The reason for this is because outdoor rated speaker cables is very expensive, and a lot of speaker cables are copper clad aluminum which sucks. You want solid copper. Landscape wire is outdoor rated, very durable, and solid copper. I used 12 gauge for the subwoofer and the two speakers. The sub is connected using a 100ft cable, one speaker is on a 100ft cable, and the other speaker is on a 50 ft cable. I have the subwoofer connected to a Crown XLS1002 amplifier and it seems a perfect fit. I didn't want to buy the SpeakerCraft amplifier because it's way overpriced and has bad reviews. Now for the most important part, the sound. It beats my expectations! I was worried just having one subwoofer, especially since it's just a 10 inch woofer, would not be enough. Luckily I was wrong. The bass is loud, deep, and covers the whole backyard. Having any more units would just be overkill and wouldn't even be able to be utilized to their full extent because it would disturb the neighbors too much. This subwoofer is amazing and I highly recommend it! So glad I forked out the cash to do it. If you're wondering how I have the system connected, here is how I did it: Subwoofer and speakers wired through a hole in my house back wall, into our kids playroom where I have an audio cabinet with the Crown amplifier and a Harmon Kardon receiver. The HK powers the speakers and sends the bass frequencies to the Crown amplifier. I have a Google Chromecast Audio connected using a fiber optic cable to the HK. I use my phone, iPad, etc to stream music from YouTube, Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Unlimited, music saved on my phone, etc to the Chromecast Audio. I use an Asus RT-AC68U wireless router which has been excellent. Covers my house and almost the entire back and front yard. But to get even better coverage, I installed two Ubiquiti UAO-AC-PRO access points. One outside in the backyard (these are outdoor rated) and one in the house. They did provide perfect 100% coverage, but long story short, these are enterprise access points and are very complicated. I could not adequately monitor them from the controller program, tech support was not able to fix the issues, and I had to return them. They also were not as fast as the Asus wireless router. I've had many compliments on the stereo system, everyone said it's sounds amazing. And SpeakerCraft has a lifetime warranty. So if anything ever happens, I know they will make it right. This is especially important for outdoor stuff. Great product!

Outdoor audio always lacks low end. Like trying to light a cigarette with a stick of dynamite, this thing is insane. From classic rock to Dubstep, it truly fills out your outdoor sound perfectly.
