This review is for 2018 model, Spectre 13 UHD model (i7 8550U/16GB/512GB)
CPU:
My new Spectre 13 with i7 8550U should have been substantially more powerful than my old Apple i5 2.7Ghz 5257U, but it wasn't the case. There are limitations on the processor power on Spectre 13 due to heating issue, so technically we are not able to utilize the full potential of the superfast i7 8550U CPU for longer duration. It is still fast enough for regular use, and relatively faster than the old i5, but I expected more!

Display:
Spectre UHD looks Warm Yellowish by default, I had to calibrate it by reducing 2 Points for Red and 2 points for Green to make it look normal white.
In the store, I compared MacBook Pro Retina, Surface Book 2 and this one Spectre x360 13. Store had too much light, and the Spectre UHD screen felt ordinary and yellowish, while both MacBook Retina and Surface Book 2 looked awesome at full 100% bright. Even With 100% Screen Brightness on Spectre UHD, the display lacked vibrance/contrast.
At home, I also have Apple Retina 13.3 (2015) and a regular HP FHD Spectre (2016) and the new Spectre UHD. Comparing UHD to FHD screen between the Spectre, I could clearly see the difference. New Spectre UHD was way better, sharp, vibrant and contrasty than my wife's 2016 FHD Spectre. Comparing with my Apple Retina at 80% and Spectre at 100% Brightness, they were almost same, Spectre was in fact little better. Retina at 100% was too bright, impractical for indoor use. I burrowed my friend's Surface Book 2 at home, it looked the same.
My rating:
Inside home/office with ambient light,
Macbook Pro : 100
Surface Book: 100
Spectre: 100
Outdoor or bright light:
Macbook Pro : 100
Surface Book 2: 100
Spectre: 80
Touchpad:
Both Macbook Pro and Surface Book are better.
My rating:
Macbook Pro : 100
Surface Book 2: 95
Spectre: 85
Windows Scaling issues:
By default the system is configured for 300% scale, this was too big for my taste, I reduced it to 250%. All Microsoft Apps, Chrome, Firefox, Adobe Lightroom, Acrobat all look awesome. But there are so many other apps which don’t support native scaling including Photoshop CC 2018 extensions such as Nik Tools. I'm a photographer and use photoshop with Nik Tools a lot.
Without an external manifest file for Photoshop, Nik tools isn't Scaling aware due to which the text appears too tiny, almost unreadable, images are good due to high resolution. With an external manifest file and registry changes on Windows, text becomes big but blurry and images on Nik Tools look ordinary.
Lightroom + Nik Tools by default supports Scaling, and I faced the same blurry issues.
Eventually I removed the external manifest file for Photoshop and lived with the tiny text on Nik tools for sharp image. For Adobe Lightroom, I chose the option to override scaling configuration in the Nik Tool application compatibility setting, text became tiny but images were sharp.
Egronomics:
I'm very happy with the look/size/weight of Spectre 13 UHD. It looks stunning, and in folded state, very convenient.
My rating:
Macbook Pro 13: 100
Surface Book 2: 85 (bulky)
Spectre 13: 100
Battery Life:
I'm able to pull 8hours with light to medium heavy usage.

This is the biggest area of win against Apple MacBook Pro and Surface Book2. Considering a disk of 512GB, Memory of 16GB, this laptop is a steal.

Was looking at the Surface Pro, but this is more powerful.
I yet to do anything with the included pen yet.
Very light weight and thin. Battery not as much as I would like, but so far its enough. About 6hrs + watching videos.
This is my 1st experience with windows 10 (not impressed w/10)
Screen is very crisp. Being 64yrs, my eyes not good enough to read them small characters so have to set fonts 150%. Still hard to see (why I don't have a smartphone - just a dumb 10yr old one).
I probably should of just got a cheaper laptop, but being this is very good one with a crisp - very high resolution, should last many years before having to replace it.
Only thing that concerns me is the USB 3.1 C jacks getting damaged. Recharge power is on the usbC. Maybe I should go and buy the extended warranty plan?
Wish it had a slot, or magnetic holder for the pen before that gets lost...
Its also hard to open as the lid shuts tight. Need fingernails to open as nothing to grab - lol.
Sealed screw-less unit so you can't replace battery or ram, SSD in the future, will have to send in :-(
No dvd, or BR drive.
Sound is ok for the size of this, but would of like more volume. Probably should get a blueTooth headset next for it :-)
Not a tank unlike my 8+lbs Asus gaming laptop (G751JM) so you will need to be careful and get a case before you drop it & still pray...
Overall, I like it a lot

Ideal laptop for travel

After lugging around a 15 lb full size laptop on foreign travel for the past five years, I decided I needed to “lighten-up” in more ways than one. The HP Spectre 360 with the Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB solid state hard drive is a beautiful laptop, aesthetically and functionally. It is blazingly fast, boots up in seconds, and the 4K touch-screen display is easy on the eyes. Needless to say, it’s compact size and light weight means that one has to forgo the convenience of an internal DVD drive (yes, I still use one) and manage with just one USB port (multi-port adapter overcomes this limitation for me), but these are very minor inconviences that are more than offset by the fact that my backpack no longer feels like I am starting a boot camp march each time I board an aircraft for overseas business travel. Great little machine that meets my needs!

I bought this laptop during Best Buy's Black Friday deal days. The laptop must be seen to appreciate how nice it looks. I have the 4K display and photos look like you are looking out of your window. It is so thin and lightweight that you don't even realize you are carrying it. So far I am very happy with the speed and usability. I would buy this laptop again.

I have been a Mac guy for the last 10 years but with how pricey they are now it’s almost pointless to stay Mac. This pc has been amazing. It’s fast and easy to use. The 4K screen is beautiful. The only con I have is no ports other than type c and usb. A 20 dollar dongle fixed it right away. The pen coming with it as well as the leather sleeve is pretty awesome.

I love the speed it gives me everytime i run the laptop. Not only is the boot time faster than my older lenovo yoga laptop, it also has the fingerprint scanner that is really helpful to help me sign in very quickly. However, i hate how the manufactur fails the monitor. It looks bend (monitor) and the right side hinge doesnt give any space between the monitor and the keyboard resulting small friction that i had to cover up using my watch screen protector. I hate how my very brand new laptop now have a small scratch on the upper right hinge because of the friction. I already put in a screen protector and a webcam cover and i dont want to exchange it because i will lose the screen protector and webcam cover. Hate it that this happens.

I bought this laptop as a replacement for my 2 years old Lenovo 900. I liked the performance in general, but even with just watching videos, it turns to get really hot so you cannot rest on your legs. If you try to play some games, the fan run as crazy and too noisy and I like quieter ambiance. Because of this two issues, I returned the laptop. If you don't mind about the heat and the noise, this is a powerful laptop.

The specs on this laptop are amazing, along with the SSD and 16GB of RAM it powers up in a matter of seconds, as well as never slows down. The display is beautiful being in 4k and the addition of windows ink and stylish is a great as well. I also love the dark ash finish. If you're looking for a high-end laptop for work, this is it.

I chose this computer because of its size. I wanted something compact, light, and easy to pack to go to work. I'm not a technical person but this laptop was overall easy to use.
Pros:
-Battery life is better than my last laptop.
-I like the touch screen feature
- Light and easy to transport
Cons:
-setup was a bit difficult ryti get it too the settings that I was used to in my old laptop. I don't use Cortana so it's kind of pointless to me.
- Heats up quickly and makes a loud humming sound when the backlit keyboard is on or if left plugged in.
- the screen started peeling from the back. Luckily it was still under warranty so HP fixed it but that meant I was without a computer for days. Downside is that they did not install the hing mechanism evenly so that bothers me. However, so far no other issues.

I love my laptop. It's my first touch screen flip laptop and I couldn't be happier. It is fast, strong and amazing screen. The pen is a must for the designer. It doesn't have a lot of usb ports but you can easily add them with and adapter! Highly recommend this over the Surface.

Have had a great experience with this laptop. The only real hangup I've noticed is that it gets hot at the hinges and maxes out the fan when doing intensive tasks (intensive for these specs, that is)- in my case, this is artwork. I've extensively used Sketchbook, photoshop, & more recently, Krita. They all run fine (and I personally love the Windows Ink environment!) but if you're utilizing something like a line stabilizer, and/or maintaining eraser/brush strokes continuously (without lifting off screen), this is when you might notice some lag & heat. And exponentially so if it's also charging at the same time!
Also ran many different IT programs as a student (visual studio, visio, wireshark, much of the Microsoft suite, etc.) Visio was the only one that ever got a bit laggy, but they were also extremely detailed docs.
All in all, I really enjoy it- actually wish I'd commited & gone for the 15", now that I know how nice it is.

This laptop is light as a feather but still powerful and lightning fast. It is replacing my desktop pc, and this time I wanted something ultra portable. When I was not at my desk, I was on my ipad, a lot. The Spectre gives me one device to deal with. Plus, I really like the touchscreen. Back in the office I was always trying to pinch and scroll on my desktop. Now at least I don't look so addled to my employees.

I use this computer for basic school work and personal use, not for coding or gaming or anything else that might add weight to my opinion of it.
In contrast to my older HP. this computer is a dream. Adapting to the smaller-sized keyboard is taking some time, but I love how sleek and lightweight it is, and more importantly, its exponentially faster processing speed.
My husband has a comparable model he purchased for coding. He has no complaints after transitioning to it from an Apple. The splurge for me was unnecessary, but I'm getting some use out of Windows Ink in writing math formulas, the flip-back screen for reading .pdf's in tablet mode, and the touch screen. I think it's excessive for my needs, but I couldn't be happier. Cool color, too.

Faster than my surface pro 4

I bought this to replace my surface pro 4. I've started to get into photography and the 256GB drive in my surface just didnt have much storage left. I was also frustrated with the single usb port since I needed a full size sd card reader and an external drive because of the storage issues. The spectre x360 gives me the touch screen and pen I'm used to but twice the memory and storage, as well as the ssd in this is so much faster than the surface. I have a usb a port as well as 2 usb c thunderbolt ports so I can connect multiple devices. I can connect my usb 3 sd card reader to the usb a port and my external ssd to one of the thunderbolt ports. That still leaves a port open to either charge or connect something else. The ac adapter is small and uses usb c so you have two ports you can connect to for charging. You can also use a usb c or thunderbolt dock depending on the bandwidth you need. My only issue is this seems to get hot under load and from some reviews the cooling isnt as good in this laptop as some others with the same chipset and quad core i7 processor. Even if this isnt the absolute fastest, it runs lightroom well, better than my older core i5 (dual core) surface pro 4, the 4k screen is beautiful and fairly color accurate. Higher resolution, pen included, more ram, more storage, current i7, real keyboard. Yes it weighs more and the screen cant be removed from the keyboard, but I'll trade that for more speed and better all around workflow.
I will say that the pen and touch screen are not near the accuracy of the surface pro 4 and I assume newer models, but its close enough. I'm not drawing anyway. Its accurate enough for me to edit photos which is about all I intend to do, possibly use it to sign contracts or other documents. For that, its just fine. I'd also like to mention that the ash finish with the copper accents are really pretty and different from other laptops.
