I've used Macbooks since 2010, after being disappointed in the performance and lifespan of every single Windows computer I've ever had. I bought a new Macbook Pro about a month ago to upgrade from my 2014 Macbook pro but was very disappointed in it and returned it after about a week. I did some research and decided to give Windows a chance since I hadnt had a Windows computer in so long. Man am I happy I did. Windows has finally figured out how to make a nice computer--and after using this HP for about 2 weeks, I dont think I'll ever go back to a MacBook. The finish and aesthetic appearance of this laptop just screams high quality. I'm a male and was planning on purchasing the black or silver Spectre, but this pale rose gold special edition was on sale for much less than the other colors and even came with more SSD. The color isnt near as gaudy as it looks in the images--its actually pretty slick and not too girly-looking. It even comes with a stylus and a nice grey leather case that holds the laptop and the stylus. The screen is amazing. I've never been a fan of touch screens due to accuracy issues, but this screen gets two thumbs up. Very accurate and even more crisp than my Macbook retina screen. I run lots of high-CPU-usage stock-trading programs/software and this thing handles them all seamlessly. A few seconds of lag time or a frozen screen can cost you 1000's of dollars when day trading, so speed is very important to me. I had been running dual Macbooks to do my intraday trading, but this HP runs all my programs simultaneously AND faster than my dual Macbook setup. Battery life is great, too. I can get through a morning of trading and an afternoon of university classes and I'll still have enough battery to mess around and watch Netflix or surf the web. All in all, I am loving this computer. I havent had a PC in years, so my only concern is how long until it starts freezing up or becomes outdated. Hopefully it will continue running as fast and as error-free as it has been running for at least a few years to come. I will update this review if anything changes.

I really wanted to love this computer. I loved the color, it was a limited edition, and had a lot of great features. What I couldn't get past was how fast the fan would turn on and how hot it would get. In a quiet room the fan is loud. This would come on while searching the internet. I tried to make sure the vent was not covered, but it still came on. The bottom would get so hot I couldn't sit it on my lap. Because of these issues I unfortunately had to return it. Visually it is a stunning laptop and I had no other issues, but it cost too much to have an issue like that.

Average quality laptop ... has had issues; cooling fan, error messages, battery capacities, etc.

Performance of the device was great, but after a few days of use, the speaker became muffled, often making odd squeaking noises. I can't take the sound any longer, so I plug in my head phones, only to realize that the head phone jack does not function, along with the USB port on the left side of the computer. Thank god I realized this within the return policy, and didn't set it on a shelf until my semester started! No excuse, for a product worth over a thousand dollars.
