Game for everyone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even as an adult the gameplay is very enjoyable, as far as you can look past the visuals. All multiplayer modes, pvp and coop, are very well designed and a ton of fun to play. The only downside for pvp is that league battles is the only way to group up with a friend and be guaranteed to be on the same team.

Love this Switch game!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great addition to my switch game collection. I really like how you can turn the movement by the game console to movement by joysticks. Makes it more enjoyable for every kind of user whether it's myself or my niece/nephew. Gameplay was easy to learn, usual semi-customizable character and fun for all ages.

A great sequel to an amazing shooter game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon 1 won both Shooter Game of the Year and Multiplayer Game of the Year when it launched, and this game takes that amazing experience and enhances upon it in several ways. There are more weapons, levels, a great single player campaign, and the visuals have been improved in several ways. Awesome game!

The Sequel is Splatastic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon for WiiU was a rare original title from Nintendo. Nintendo doing an online shooter seemed crazy. What we didn't know was who better than Nintendo to make an ONline Shooter! Splatoon 2 captures the magic of the original and adds so much more on Switch. If you have a Switch. You should have this game.

Perfect shooter for people who don't like shooters
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely can't stand multiplayer shooters. Call of Duty, Overwatch, whatever, I can't get into them. I don't find the gameplay of running around for 5 minutes, sometimes shooting people, sometimes getting shot, winning or losing, then doing it again, compelling in the slightest. That said, I LOVE Splatoon 2! In the main Turf War game mode, the objective is to cover more territory in ink, which all weapons shoot, NOT to get the most kills. This means that you don't have to constantly run around looking for fights in order to play effectively, strategy and placement matter, and you can still contribute meaningfully even if you don't have twitch reflexes. Also, the advanced game modes iterate on the basic concept in a meaningful fashon. There's no brainless Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch to be found. (Yes, this also makes Splatoon ideal for kids, as it's completely non-violent. You're just spraying ink, not bullets. Parents, if your kid is bugging you for Call of Duty, but you're not sure if it's appropriate, get them Splatoon 2 instead. You won't regret it.)

Splatoon 2
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I played Splatoon 1 on the WiiU and was apprehensive about how I would perform on this new version but my worries were for nothing. The online gameplay is very fun and fast-paced. They update the game very often with new weapons, and compared to the last game, I'd say this version has way more content.

Terrific kid friendly FPS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first foray into the Splatoon universe, and I can say it is welcome. It is a great FPS with terrific controls and a different perspective. I really like the variation from day to day, with revolving arenas and new weapons - a great online experience. Truly one of the best Switch games out there.

This was bought for my 7 year old.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've waited for what seems to be forever for this game. My son just loves it and can't put it down. He's not allowed to bring his switch to school but he uses it in the morning and in the afternoon as soon as he's picked up. It's hard getting him to eat and bathe because he doesn't want to stop playing.

A follow up to a great Nintendo shooter!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first Splatoon game on the Wii U was a wonderful game that was accessible to both children as well as adults. It offered a fresh take on the shooter genre which just oozed Nintendo quality. The newest game in this series continues that legacy. It is a fun shooter that anyone can pickup and enjoy. It is also a breath of fresh air from all the hyper realistic and often more of the same looking gritty worlds of Call of Duty and Battlefield. The game play is fun, fast, and addictive. While you are able to take out opponents by splatting them with a variety of paint based weapons, winning games is based on having a higher percentage of the maps covered in your team's color than the opponents. In addition, there is a variety of gear available in the game that allows you to customize your character stats as well as appearance. Be stylish while playing! Also, don't forget about the Splatoon amiibo that provides unique gear and the ability to save loadouts onto them. If you have a Nintendo Switch, this is definitely a must own game to add to your library!

Despite bad online ideas, Splatoon 2 is very fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon 2's gameplay is stellar with its variety of weapons, fun multiplayer game modes, a pretty decent story mode with fun platforming levels, and a really enjoyable horde mode called Salmon Run. It's also fun to try out new ink guns and clothes for your character. Where Nintendo's offering is weak is in its online setup for the game. Joining a friend's game is a process in hurdle-jumping not really needed in gaming in 2017 and voice chatting through a phone app that must always be open is a terrible option. Nintendo is still trying to figure out this online thing that many other platforms found better options for 10 years ago. There are also minor annoyances, such as turning on the game each time forces you to read through Pearl and Marina's intro with level rotations. Level rotation is kind of a silly thing to me when there are enough maps to play on; I myself have run into the situation of playing the same map about 3-4 times in a row because it's either Port Mackerel or Sturgeon Shipyard. Salmon Run is a scheduled event that comes every other day, so there may be times when you feel like playing it, but cannot because Nintendo decided a schedule for it that may (or may not) fit your life schedule. Leveling up in the game is also kind of a grinding experience. Max level is 50, but it takes a lot of matches completed to just gain one level. There are tickets that can be found in the story mode to add a 1.5x multiplier for example, but it's not a massive improvement on XP gains. While the core gameplay experience is incredibly fun, its design with regards to online leaves me with feeling like this could've been a lot better. I still rate it as "good" because the gameplay is so solid, but online functionality is bothersome at times.

Best Shooting Game on the Switch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been playing this game a lot since the release date and I'm loving it! The game has a good single player story (not much of a story though), and a great coop mode called Salmon Run (imagine zombies in COD). However, it's all about the online multiplayer mode! It's very fun to play and great to see how the focus is covering the ground with your team color's ink instead of trying to shoot the other team. There are other multiplayer modes once you've reached level 10, but turf war is one of the simplest and most fun modes I think. Playing with friends can be tricky at times though since there's no guaranteed way that you'll be playing on the same team. There's other experiences like dressing up your character and choosing the right type of weapon that gives the game an unique feel that I haven't played in most other shooting games. If you have the switch and are looking for a game to invest a lot of time in, look no further than here! P.S. To really enhance your experience, I recommend to get the pro controller if you don't have it already.

Great game, fun online play
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Different than most shooters on the market, Splatoon 2 is colorful and inviting, with good music and interesting design. It's very fun and I highly recommend it, but that being said be ready to grind through the first 10-20 levels by playing with people that seemingly don't know what they are doing.

A fun shooter!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fun shooter for someone who is typically not much of a gamer. Mechanics are tricky at first, but you will adjust quickly! The solo campaign is fine, but it is really much more fun with online play, so it's better to have with Nintendo Online.

3rd person family friendly shooter game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A twist on the traditional 3rd person shooter genre, Splatoon 2 judges wins by your team having more surface area of the map covered in your paint than the other team. Motion controls are a little of a struggle to get a hang of but once you do it plays amazingly. Fast paced with short and quick rounds!

Addicting
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a game for one person to play online. No split screen. If you want to play with friends, they will need a switch a copy of this game. This game is fun and addicting. Matches are fairly quick. I can't imagine paying to play online since their online functions are extremely limiting though.

I'm a kid, I'm a squid
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is a lot of fun to play and a lot to do. The standard multiplayer game is all about covering as much of the map in your team's ink before time runs out. Matches are short and intense. The ranked mode features different rotating objectives, from fighting for control of a moving tower and pushing it as far into enemy territory as you can to collecting as many clams as you can and then tossing them into the other team's basket almost like basket ball to your standard king of the hill capture point. If you get burned out on PvP, there's a cooperative mode called Salmon Run that pits you and three others against progressively harder and harder enemies that each require unique tactics and teamwork to overcome. And of course there's the single player mode that presents a variety of obstacle courses that teach you all the different nuances of the gameplay and controls. Plus all updates that add new weapons and maps are free!

More Splatoon Fun And Great Like Before
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One thing that is always a concern with sequels to great games is that maybe the sequel just won't be that good. This is not the case. Splatoon 2 is great. It is quite similar to the first, so if you're looking for an entirely new experience you'll be disappointed. In any case, the game is fantastic.
