This review is based on the kids’ reaction and affinity to the game. Both my 7 and 10 year old boys love this game, often taking turns to play the online co-op rounds. The graphics are awesome and the concept (the characters are all squids) is mild and fun in nature unlike the popular xbox/playstation RPG games. Highly recommend it to switch owners but the only downside is that two players cannot play simultaneously (kids tell me u can on the Wii-U consoles with the original Splatoon).

This game is one of my favorite of all time. This game really rewards team work and knowledge of the game. That said, you won't find too much team work in the random lobbies you join. This is also a Nintendo online game and their online service is probably the worst, I really don't think it's gotten any better since the Wii days. The game is still amazingly fun though for matches in short bursts whenever you have free time. Near 300 hours of played time on this title.

The second installment in the Splatoon series offers many new weapons, abilities, and clothing to battle in. The Splatfests offer a new fun competitive theme every month or so. A blast to play!

Nintendo still doesn't know how to do online for whatever reason so playing online can be frustrating when you're trying to play in a group with your friends and have trouble joining each other. There's also no way to change your load out between games without quitting out back to what is essentially the main menu which adds to how certain items in game feel imbalanaced. The newcaster thing every day and every time your launch the game that tells you which maps are available at the time is also too long and annoying. Also, for whatever reason, Nintendo decided you can only play modes like salmon run online at certain predesignated times. However, after all is said and done, the game is still pretty fun and a nice time filler.

Splatoon 2 is an addicting third person shooter. It has unique and engaging game modes that allow for both co-operative play as well as competitive. All of which use Nintendo's bright and vibrant color palette to render the game world. The controls (please, use motion controls!) make playing the game a breeze, whether in handheld, split joy-con or on the pro controller. If you're in pursuit of something to keep you occupied until Super Mario Galaxy and beyond, give this one a go.

Having thoroughly enjoying the first Splatoon, I knew this game was going to be a 'hit'. As good as the original was/is, Splatoon 2 is better. Obviously the greater power of the Switch is a contributor, but beyond the hardware, Splatoon 2 brings more content in every game mode. It's also one of the games that can be played via the Switch's LAN functionality. In short, whether an old fan or new, I very much consider this a 'must have' title for the Nintendo Switch.

This game is very kid friendly and age appropriate. The characters are very colorful and engaging!

Pros: it's fun to play. Kids can pick it up pretty easy. It's a different take on the shooter genere than I'm used to. Cons:no offline against bots, you have to play online to earn cash and rank up.

The game is very fun. it exceeded my expectation in every way. the game plays very smooth on the switch. some frame drop at times but still enjoyable. There are a lot of customization in this game. there is also a single player, but the main attraction is the online multiplayer. It takes a few learning curve for this game if you want to be good at it and play competitively.

Pros: the matches are short but satisfying; the way they cycle the maps allows you to quickly learn them within just a few sessions; plenty of weapon and outfit variety means there are always new ways to play so it stays fresh; splatting opponents is satisfying of course, but so is inking over the turf they just inked; it's a lighthearted and fun game with clear competitive possibilities. Cons: Online functions are still VERY protective compared to other platforms, making it harder to make friends online than on Xbox, Playstation, and Steam; Matchmaking can be horribly unbalanced at times (i.e. all the Lv. 27+'s ending up on one team with Lv.'s 2, 4, 6, and 10 on the other side)

I got this for my daughter for Christmas. It's a fun game that has all the thrills of an FPS without the violence. She picked it up and was ready to go after just a few minutes.

My 9 yr old son loves it! He said you can level up and get better guns. The rainmaker is his favorite part.

Really fun game. Expands on the high points of the first game and adds some fun new maps weapons, and gear.

I love the the game's colors and ability to customize your player with a whole range of headgear, tops and shoes. The graphics are slick and the soundtrack is fun. I really appreciate how the game developers continue to invest in this game by hosting Splatfests and introducing new weapons and stages. I got my siblings and friends hooked on Splatoon 2. Playing others can sometimes be frenetic, but that is what makes it fun!

Splatoon has three parts: a single-player campaign that feels very much like a Nintendo game, a coop mode (that requires multiple Switches and game cartridges to play) that's a huge party game-like blast, and third multiplayer competitive game in which you both try to paint more of the landscape than your opponent and knock your opponents out with your paint guns. It's a bizarre and very fun multiplayer mode, but for how well it's designed, it's not a top-tier competitive game. Still, if you're looking for something your kids can play for months at a time or a more casual shooter than Call of Duty, you'll have a hard time finding something better than Splatoon 2.

We love this game in our house. The color blasting is lots of fun, kind of like tag, but with colors instead. You can play offline, but online is so much better, which requires Nintendo Switch Online. The controls are terrific and the game becomes very addicting. Fun for younger players too!

If you played Splatoon for the Wii U this one will feel pretty similar. That isn't a bad thing though. Nintendo has improved on the original and made this one a bit more polished all around. Really fun game with variety and creativity. One thing to note is the voice communication is still quite convoluted which is disappointing. Still, this game is one of those must haves for the Switch if you want that shooter experience on a Nintendo console.

I like this game since the original wii u splatoon days. In the new one you get new weapons and some new maps. These are easily something they could have added in the first game. Thus felt like if you already have the first one, this game should not be charged retail but it's first time on the switch I'll let that one pass. Other than that multiple player especially when playing as a team is very disappointing since you cannot group/team up together and sometimes depending on who joins, you can't even play together. They really need to step it up with the online play mode especially if they are planning to charge their customer for the online experience in 2018.
