Extremely fun game!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't be fooled by the colors and childish look, Splatoon 2 is a competitive yet entertaining game that is a MUST for the switch. If you're skeptical about getting it, just give it a chance, Nintendo sets itself apart from the competition and their games drag me back every time. I find myself picking up the switch to play Splatoon 2 versus picking my my Xbox controller to play battlefield 1. 100% recommend Side note: the only way to play local multiplayer is if each player has their own switch, two people cannot play on the same console, which, is the only downside to this game.

Super FUN and ADDICTIVE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the second game I fell in love after Breath of The Wild. I didn't play the first game but I love this one so much. The single player campaign is well designed and fun to play. The online match is easy to get hand on but hard to master. Althoguh every match only has 3 minutes, you are doing useful things throughout this entire 3 mins. Noob like me can also feel a sense of contribution and keep playing. The hode mode is addictive as well. Need team co-operation a lot. Yes, there is no local multiplayer unless you have two Switches. But I blame people who dont do their research before buying.

Addictive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I only got to play the original splatoon a little as I only had a 3ds not a wii u. I thought it would be amazing if Splatoon came to handheld. Little did I know that would come true! The original Splatoon was a great new IP for Nintendo and Nintendo has polished that formula with Splatoon 2. I didn't notice any big differences but I love being able to play with the Pro controller rather than the Wii U gamepad. I am surprised this game has not sold more. Personally, I would put it up there with Super Mario Odyssey, BOTW, and Mario Kart for must own games on the Switch. I also absolutely recommend the Octopass. It was an extremely fun single player mode that turned me into a Splatoon fan! The challenges, visuals and music are all fantastic. I just wish I could get the soundtrack!

Fun and Addicting
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved the Wii U version and had to get the Switch one and I have to say the changes are great and I love Splatoon franchise so much! Please Don’t let the design of the game fool you cause any age can play. I’m 20 and I’m probably never leaving this fandom. It’s so colorful and fun and I can’t get enough. Though I still play the Wii U version time to time I have to say Splatoon 2 is just so great overall! My in-game name is NARUTO with a star and if you see me don’t hesitate to click with me! :D Such a good idea for a game, for those ppl who would never play COD or something. Haha. 10/10 I swear!

It's a REALLY good game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is phenomenal. I never played the first Splatoon, but I was greatly surprised by how much I have enjoyed Splatoon 2. I played both Global Testfire events, so I was acquainted a fair amount with Turf War - it's iconic mode that those familiar with the series will be acquainted with; However, there's much more than that brimming on the service. There's a single player mode that has 5 overworld's with a handful or so of levels in each. There's Ranked, League, and Horde Mode (called Salmon Run here) along with various maps and types of gameplay in each. It's thoroughly rewarding, even for those who aren't the best at FPS type games (don't worry parents, this isn't blood and guts, it's essentially a paintball variant with ink in place of paint). The main faults I see with this title are: 1) The lack of being able to play Salmon Run when you want to, as opposed to the arbitrary time restrictions on the mode 2) The lack of voice communication being a viable option, specifically for team play (don't even suggest the workaround with the crazy monstrosity Hori and other companies have suggested) 3) Quality of life details are sketchy at best here. Not being able to leave a lobby once joined without a penalty is such a joke. Furthermore, not being able to change your loadoat in-between games while in a lobby is hilariously backwards. Sure, you can leave the lobby and go back to do it in the screen before, but then you have to restart the whole process of getting a game going & waiting over again. So that's that -- one of the first big exclusives by Nintendo that make the Switch worth buying. If you had any doubt before, yet somehow have come across Switch consoles available in your region now, pick up both and have a blast. You won't regret it!

Great sequel to the original game.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What makes Splatoon 2 great is the fun gameplay which anyone can pick up and play and not feel like they are letting their team down. You can be a pro player or you can be a beginner and you can have fun with this game. Other online shooters if you don't know what you are doing you will get killed over and over again. This one lets you help your team from the get go while you improve over time.

Multiplayer was free, now requires subscription
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When the game was first released you could play the multi-player online battles for free, just like in the Wii-U version. After a recent update, a 20 dollar per year membership is required to play online. That 20 dollar fee is for 1 account. If you have a family membership, then it is 35 dollars per year. This was an easy 5 stars when it was first released. Because they added the membership fee for online play, I feel like this was a bit of a bait and switch.

Not a Perfect Game, But Better Than Expected
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I didn't pick this game up on day one, nor did I play the first Splatoon on WiiU because I didn't have one. I thought this was going to be another typical online multiplayer like Call of Duty and Fortnite. But boy was I wrong. This game keeps you going. Although I haven't leveled up to the point where I can play ranked, the objective for most multiplayer games is simple: cover the entire map with as much of YOUR ink as possible, hence the name of the regular game mode: Turf War. Killing your opponents is only necessary when they get in the way of your objective, rather than it being the main one. There isn't a point where the game isn't fun; it's fast-paced goodness. Matchmaking is also a plus, as you can easily get paired up with players pretty quickly. The only downside I would have is the lack of pure voice-chat. It really does suck to have voice-chat relegated to the Nintendo Switch phone app, but hopefully that gets fixed with the upcoming Online service. The single-player campaign, which is basically another con but minor, is ok, but it's basically a tutorial to the multiplayer. If you want more of a challenge, the Octo Expansion DLC just came out if you want to purchase it, but I would recommend doing so after beating the campaign and playing a few multiplayer matches. Overall, for those that haven't gotten Splatoon 2 yet, I would definitely recommend getting it. It's never too late to get it; Nintendo is still supporting the game with frequent updates and monthly Splatfests. Whether you win or lose a game of Turf War, especially when you start out on level 1, you'll feel more rewarded than playing a game of Fortnite or Call of Duty.

Excellent!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon 2 is a sequel to the first game, Splatoon. It has very alike similarities, such as characters (Inklings) and maps. The great thing about this game is how motion controls gather suspense not only in-game, but in the real-life. I've absolutely LOVED the controls since the very first day of Splatoon! Graphics in Splatoon 2 are just fantastic! Game runs at 60 FPS, and 1080p! How can a game get any better than that? The price is totally worth it, never in a million years would I regret sayin' that! I would totally recommend this to a friend! The Squid Research Lab's (Creators of Splatoon, Splatoon 2) really put great effort into this game, I rate it 10/10!

Wrong NAT Type
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this game for my son and he kept getting an error messages saying he could not connect to other console(s) because of wrong NAT type to play online. I contacted Nintendo support and I was on the phone for over an hour and they could not help me. My NAT type showing on the Nintendo Switch was a D and she said that was bad. It should be an A or a B. I also reached out to Linksys support and nothing. I finally decided to contact my ISP and here is where it got interesting. He told me they use what is called CG-NAT and does not allow online gaming, VPN, etc. The only way to get around this is get a static IP address which will cost me $5/month. Just be aware if you decide to purchase this game and you can't play online, this is why.

Fun and Innovative!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon 2 for the Nintendo Switch is a fun and innovate game. The leveling up and choices for configuring your player is cool. I only wish you could play split screen and with multi-player with one console.

Decent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can be fun with friends and has a decent single player campaign but gets repetitive and the fact that you can only play on 2 different maps at a time is lame.

Going to be addictive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I put a lot of hours into the first one. The beta for part 2 was awesome and yet it was just a shell of what the entire game will have in it. Glad to see that they'll be fleshing out other modes. Easily a must buy for the Switch. Also a console mover if you don't own a Switch yet.

Excellent game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First things first, no split screen co-op. Some might find that disappointing, seeing that this is a game with multiplayer focus. It's more of an Overwatch than a Call of Duty. There is a local multiplayer but everyone needs a copy and a switch. That aside, the game is exsquidsite, highly replayable moreso with friends, it can get pretty deep in terms of strategies and builds.

Woomy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon 2 builds upon Splatoon (what a surprise). If you enjoyed the first game, chances are you'll love Splatoon 2 just as much. If you haven't played Splatoon before, this one is just as good to make a splash with. There's lots of customization, different play styles and options, and a few different modes. At it's core it's a chaotic action game that leaves an inkpression.
