    He better win an Oscar

I went in to this film with mild expectations because of the director attached and left the theater pleasantly surprised! I always found the 'split'-personality disorders interesting and while I'm sure this portrayal wasn't accurate to how most people with disorder have it, im sure this was an extreme version of a worse case scenario. James McAvoy shines as he transitions from one character to the next. I felt unsettled as movie progressed and more of plot was revealed. It was also filled with some strange comedy that fit just perfectly with eerie tone of the film. Do your self a favor and watch this film. A clever, surprise ending will make you appreciate the director even more if you are a fan of his earlier films.

This director started with a great film, and then it seems like there was a slow and steady downhill from there. This is his first film in AGES that I really enjoyed. Highly recommend this!

    M. Night's Comeback

After the cinematic dud that was The Lady in the Water and one of the worst films in history (The Last Airbender), M. Night Shyamalan had a long road back to being in the good graces of audiences. He wrote and directed the "found footage" horror film The Visit, which was a decent entry in his filmography, but no where near par of his previous works. But, a couple years after, we have Split. He has not only returned to form with a genius thriller that the incredible with a multiple twist ending, but brings us a ground-breaking performance from James McAvoy, on top of being solely driven by acting with no need for visual effects. This is a mix of Fincher and Hitchcock of the highest order, and a must-own for thriller fans or film nuts.

    M. Night is back!!

Even though I saw this movie 3x in the theater, I HAD to have this in DVD format as well. Well done and if James McAvoy is not up for and Oscar, I will be shocked!! I love that M. Night still makes use of Philly areas for his films and this movie again, with a small cast and very small comparable budget, proves once again that CGI and green screens are not prerequisites for great movie-making! If I have one pet peeve, it's the ending (no spoiler alert) but I thought I had this one figured out and felt I had even a better twist. I felt that his ending was somewhat conceited, as if you "should know" his movies to fully follow the twist. It's still a thrill ride and highly recommended.

An unexpected sequal to another great film!

I had no idea this was a sequel to Unbreakable, which was released almost 20 years ago! You won't have any idea it is a sequel until the last few minutes of the movie. All though the story, I wasn't quite sure where it going. A multi-personality individual that abducts people, due to the one alter ego that demands the rest of the personalities to follow his orders to accomplish their overall goal. It's difficult to not spoil the movie without describing it more! So, I will leave it at that. See Unbreakable before seeing Split! Then go see Glass!!!

    Edge of your seat!

Wow! Never knew one actor could portray several different characters with ease! Bravo James McAvoy and Bravo M. Night for delivering an amazing story that we haven't seen since Unbreakable! Lets not forget Anya Taylor-Joy's performance as the outcast with a dark past who wakes up with two other school girls in the basement of an unknown location. They must escape before the captor, James McAvoy's character (insert personality name), whom is diagnosed with 23 distinct personalities with a frightening 24 personality on the way! Split is an amazing thrill ride from start to finish! Just make sure you watch all the way through the credits!

Spilt is definitely a great thriller with some twist. The first time watching it I was like wow this is pretty scary and crazy. Then I watched it the second time and notice the little things that happened in the movie that were signs of what was actually happening in the movie. It made sense and had at an ah moment. I believe it's one one of the best movies since the six Sense.

    Split Is Excellent!!

Split is quite a good film. James McAvoy stars as a man with a huge amount of multiple personalities. He kidnaps some girls and hides them out in an underground unused part of a zoo. The last personality that he becomes is as wild as an animal, as he chases the girl at the climatic finish. Look for the movie tie-in with Unbreakable as there could be another film to follow this tying in the characters. I saw this one at the theater with my girlfriend and she really enjoyed it too. Check It out. Best Buy was selling this for $5.99 on Blu-Ray, DVD, Digital..What a great bargain, for a great film.

    M. Night Shyamalan has had a rough period for a while with his movies, but Split was fantastic. The movie is inspiring and fearful and the ending had me in awe with the last shot in the Diner. Ordered online from Best Buy, picked it up the next day. Thanks

    Well acted thriller

I saw this movie in the theaters and found it to still be amazing when watching my blu ray at home. The actors do a tremendous job of providing a seemingly realistic glimpse into the life of someone who has multiple personality disorder. The plot is well paced, the interactions between the characters are balanced, the heroine is discovered to be a flawed human which leafs to her survival. This blu ray is well worth the moneyvto purchase it. Repeat viewings will result in more intricate observations of the unfolding tale of misunderstanding, of looking into the defense mechanism created by one who feels compelled to harm others to survive.

    M. Night Shyamalan's Latest

    |
    Posted .

After a series of so-so films, M. Night Shyamalan returns to his roots and delivers a nearly solid film. "Split" and his earlier film "Unbreakable", are the prequels to his new film "Glass" to be released in early 2019, before seeing "Glass" you'll need to watch those films. As to "Split" lead actor James McAvoy probably delivered the best performance of his life as the nine different characters he plays in this movie. The films drags a bit in the middle but as in all of M. Night Shyamalan's film wait for the ending - it won't let you down.

This movie is a must see! Split in 4K looks and sounds incredible. The 4K version definitely amplifies the film’s intensity. Now if they would only release Unbreakabke in 4K...but I’m sure that’s coming soon. SPOILER ALERT: For all film nerds who watched the deleted scenes and features included- the Sterling Brown sidestory was pretty interesting. It would’ve been great in an extended edition.
