Poor packaging but good content. The new effects have some flaws but they don't detract from the overall experience.

Be aware that the Blu-ray disc in this set is only special features, so if you are getting this set to have the ability to watch in both 4K and Blu-ray this isn't the way to go. Overall a really cool set for hardcore fans of the franchise, but if you simply enjoy the movies and don't need all the extra stuff in the set, save the money and get the standard slipcover version.

I'm a huge ST fan, but this movie is just so slow. As a die hard fan, I can't not say not to watch it - but I believe only a true die hard fan can say this is a must to watch.

First of all, the newer advanced graphics version is stellar in 4K with the picture quality and sound. Well done on that! We had previously only had the DVD version of it for years, and well, it didn't look that good on that format. I am very happy to have it now updated and better than ever in 4K. The total package here is a good 4 stars from me. I like all the extras, but the slots for the 3 discs are NOT good. They are very tight and tough to get the discs out without damaging the cardboard they are housed in. Once you have them, put them in a separate 3-disc sleeve for better handling and so that you don't scratch the 4K surface or Blu-ray, for that matter. The box itself and the extras are great. I am a big fan of the movies, the first 6 in particular, although I like TNG also. The added footage, scenes, etc. are good, but it doesn't alter the movie plot at all, just adds a bit of extra to the film. I would say that if you are not up to buying this particular set with all the extras, just get the 4K set with slipcover for a cheaper price. I had to subtract a star for the disc housing in this set as it is not good. I do recommend the movie!

It is so great to see all three versions of the movie together in one package. I love what they did to the directors edition, so much better then the 2001 dvd release. Even the theatrical release looks better the the 2009 blu ray release. It is so nice to view the special longer release with the addition footage and the Kirk following Spock sense is fixed and looks awesome. Long over due from video until now. All look amazing in 4K. Get it why you can. I just hope and pray Paramount does not release the special longer edition later on dwn the road. If they do I see a lot of upset people like myself. This is a bite expensive but with it.

I have waited since 2001 for the Director’s Edition upgrade from DVD to this. Sound and picture is even better then then. Awsome pakaging.
