Star Trek: The Original 4 - movies collection is a very good set for your collection

This is only a review of the movies being released in 4K. This is a MUST BUY for any Star Trek or Sci Fi fan. The 4K brings out details and the Dolby Atmos is best heard and seen in a top notch video set up in the house. The only question now is when will Paramount release 5 through 9 of the movies (i.e. the pre-JJ Abrams series

Paramount has released the first four Trek films on UHD in a set, and the results are overall rather pleasing. Gone is a majority of the DNR (digital noise reduction) that made the 2009 blu-ray transfers downright awful (don't worry, the blus included in this set are remastered). Each film has a nice layer of grain to them and picture detail is nicely improved. So, why only four stars? Well, a couple of reasons. The first is Paramount only offering up the first four films in this set. While no one misses having "Star Trek V" in 4K, not including "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country" is just plain wrong. The other issue is not including the director's cut of the first "Trek" film in this set alongside the theatrical edition. I know Paramount is currently working on a 4K restoration and these things take time, but now you are asking fans of the series to fork out even more money down the road to own the eventual UHD release. It wouldn't surprise me if they issued it exclusively in new box set...along with films five and six. Bravo, Paramount. Still, if you can get this set at a good price -and you don't care about the exclusion of the other films,- this is a solid set. Recommended, with a few reservations.

I good collection in 4K. All movies are notable improvements above the previous blu-ray editions. Hopefully Star Trek 6 (along with Star Trek 5, which I have no interest in ever seeing again) will soon follow suit. And I also hope the Next Gen films (especially First Contact) will also be released in time.

Purchased the 4k boxset star trek movies 1-4. Best honestly that it has ever looked and probably will ever look,great color rendering detail etc..Audio isnt Dolby Atmos but that is an expensive process to do with older movies. It is in Dolby digital 5.1 or 7.1 which still sounds great..love it 5 stars!

This set is worth it (to me) just for the 4K update of the TMP Director's Cut, previously only available in standard definition. These four happen to be my favorite of all the Star Trek films. Massive upgrade in quality over previous releases. Highly Recommended.

While not going to be considered reference class, seeing these old movies in 4k is a treat! Some very hints of noise reduction, but all in all I am very happy with these movies I wished that Paramount had included Star Trek V & VI with this set.

If you love sci-fi, & you love space travel, then these are the movies for you. Not to mention these movies are in beautiful 4K Ultra HD! In my opinion, that alone is worth the price of admission.

Star Trek has been one of my favorite franchises starting when I was a kid with TOS Series which were in syndication. I love the movies and the 4K editions are awesome to watch.

I was surprised with 4k transfer of some old movies. But star trek beats them all. The HDK really brought out the colors and sharpness. The downside was not all 6 movies were included

Picture quality is top notch. Sound as well. No new features, but what has been said about these movies are in books or we have seen and heard about. Overall, must own for any trekkie

Big Star Trek fan - so this was a must purchase. You do get the 4K, blu ray and digital codes. These four look awesome in 4K. Box art is ok, no awards there.

The original are the best. These are the Star Trek movies I grew up on. The 4k transfer is decent. Worth the purchase. Add it to your collection.

First 4 Star Trek movies in 4k. One word amazing. I felt like I was beamed up to starship Enterprise. Looking forward to buy the rest of the sets.

The best quality version of these movies in existence, worth it! You can't go wrong with high quality Star Trek!

Great little set of these movies, they look tremendous and was made better by the discount that I managed to get at the time. Only caveat would be that there is, I believe, a newer version of Star Trek The Motion Picture coming out soon. That may be an issue for some, and may not matter much at all for others. I'm glad to have the Director's Cut of the second movie, and to have the third and fourth films as well. Great deal for the standard blu-rays and the 4K discs together.

Great box-set of classic Start Trek films. Nice to see these films on 4K. All look and sound great. Highly recommended.

The first four Star Trek movies, was waiting for them to come out in 4k. They look great on a large screen.

Finally on 4K blu ray. I saw others belittling the first film. First of all, therr was no guide on how a film should be set up. The series had been off the air almost a decade before. Paramount was unsure if Star Trek should be brought back as series or a movie. Is it a true Trek movie, no. Is it a great science fiction movie, yes . As for those that complain about the movies offered. It takes time to remaster these films. Hopefully they will be offered individually.
