The updated special effects on the TOS shows brings them up to date with TNG or DS9 shows. They darkened in interior shots a bit to much for my liking, but they're OK.

Season one of the original Star trek. I' more of a star wars person myself but this still proved to be quite entertaining.

A must have for all Trek fans. Watching the original season in BR is great.

I wanted this item for some time and was on sale to promoter the new feature film.

Watch Star Trek: The Original Series as it was meant to be. The new special effects really enchance the episodes. Instead of being distracted by the original limited special effects; the new special effects create a even flow throughout each episode and help enhance the story of each episode. The new special effects are great and are really exciting to watch. The drawback to this set is that it's in HD DVD. It seems like the DVD industry is going to Blue Ray, so in a few years it may be hard to find a HD DVD player to play this set. The other side of each disk plays on a regular DVD player. Each side of each disk plays the same episodes, but there are some special features that are only with HD DVD side and some with the regular DVD. The special features are NOT on one disk by itself, instead the special features are spread thoughout the set with some of the episodes. Also, some of the special features are out of date. They have a special features on both William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, but both interviews were done in December 2003. I do believe that these special features were offered in the Regular Star Trek: TOS DVD set released in few years ago. It would have been nice to hear their opinions on the updates concerning the special effects. Overall, I would recommend on buying this set. Each episode is complete, not like the edited versions you see on television. The special effects are excellent. Maybe in a few years there will a DVD Player that can play both Blue Ray and HD DVD DVD's.

I love the original stories so I am pleased that all they have done is inhans the picture and plug in some shots of the ship were it makes sents to. Rather then pulling seines out like I have seen them do lately to make the show shorter and the commercial time longer. I think they would do good to leave the episodes alone as they are from this point on. If Mr.Roddenberry didn't think those seines needed to be in the show he would not have used them. So I am glad that in this release that they simply made a good thing better and left the storie itself alone. However on the disappointed side: The Episodes are recorded in origanal airing date and not in created sequence. Also the discs them selves are not laibuled as to which dics has which episodes. They also leave out the origianal pilate: The Cage In conclusion: a nice set over all but could use work I would like to see it rereleasted in order of created sequents and include the original pilate.

I always wanted the complete collection of the original Star Trek and I am very happy to have it in the Blu-ray edititon The upgrades are great especially the sound and resolution, although, with the higher resolution you can diffently tell when a stand-in is being used which I found amusing to see what the stand-in looked like. The comments are quite informative and makes you realize the painstaking effort put forth to re-do the originals to todays technology. I loved the overall results and now I also own seasons 2 & 3 in Blu-ray.

I enjoy Star Trek but am not a "trekkie". I don't own any other editions of this series and the Blu Ray edition was on sale and actually cheaper than the DVD edition. If not for that, it would not be worth getting if you already have the DVD editions. There are very few scenes where HD is even noticable. One is the menu. Big deal. The others are scenes of the Enterprise orbiting above a planet. Those scenes were redone to show more detail to the planet. If you can get the BR edition for around the same price as DVD then go for it. If you already own the DVDs, save your money. If you are a trekkie and have everything even remotely related to Star Trek, well, you're gonna do what you're gonna do.

this show was so ahead of its time that its still spinning off movies & tv series even today yet.
