The Original Trilogy in stellar quality

Stellar Battles! Retcons or not, the original trilogy remastered in Blu-Ray quality is a MUST for fans of the series. Don't mind the minor details like extra Banthas or Dewbacks in A New Hope, or even Gungans CG'd into Return of the Jedi, but focus on the inclusion of Ian McDiarmid's Emperor Palpatine in Empire Strikes Back and the symbolism of Hayden Christensen's insertion as younger Anakin Skywalker in Return of the Jedi to represent that he has been restored to a form that represented his Jedi-self before he was corrupted into Darth Vader!! Very exciting stuff, and I would definitely recommend this trilogy to all fans of Star Wars!

Since this is the digitally remastered version, the ugly squares around the ships in space are gone. There are a couple of extra scenes in there, too. Everything else is fantastic. Only cons are the "nooo" that's put in from darth Vader and the young anikin instead of the older actor at the end of the 3rd movie where they are 'ghosts'.

I love StarWars, I'm not a big fan of episodes 2&3, episode 1 is pretty good, but if your going to watch StarWars, do it right and watch episodes 4,5,6. and if your going out to watch the new StarWars thats in theaters, and your new to StarWars then this is the dvd set you need to make sense of what StarWars really is, from the darkside to the force, from the millennium falcon to the death star, it's all here. so if your just starting your StarWars journey conceder this your college 101 class, Or if your just revisiting the 70's, this dvd set has the real StarWars, and non of the episodes 1,2,3, after watching this dvd set, move on to movie #1 and enjoy.

Awesome DVD, seriously. Wanted to watch the movies before seeing the new one, but....Lucas' company won't play ball with any streaming services. So, I gave in and bought the DVD--$40 is alright for three great movies. While ultimately I traded it in to a major online retailer for half the price I bought it for, the DVD itself is great. The movies are crisp, and there are tons of extras. If you're hesitating about what Star Wars DVD to get, or whether you should buy all six movies for like $100 *gag*, just get this one--we all know the first three movies weren't as good anyways. In a Galaxy Far, Far Away, you went and bought this DVD.

.... the ultra-compact design of the packaging is pretty annoying. No, these are not the versions you saw in the theater. As a matter of fact, you've never actually seen Episode IV released in ANY format that is the same. The original big screen version did not contain the subtitle "Episode IV". Every version released on home video has been modified at least in that regard. But, I digress, massively. For the price, I'm satisfied, at least, temporarily until a massive feature laden release makes its way to the consumer. I'm guessing that's five to ten years from now, when all nine episodes can be bundled together into an overpriced collection that we'll all pay too much for because this release will contain remastered and original versions, plus a dearth of 'newly discovered' deleted scenes, outtakes, and what not. But, I'll unplug the consumption grump and simply state these films look and sound great on Blu-Ray - because they do.

It's star wars, what can you say about star wars that hasn't already been said? With this set you get each of the three movies on both Blu-Ray and DVD. It's a good price if you can find it on sale. If not, you may be better off buying the whole collection in on set. The difference is the 6 movie collection is only available in a one format purchase. You either get all blu ray or all dvd. If you pick up this set alongside the Prequel trilogy, you get them all on both formats, which is what I did. It's really a matter of preference.

    A Classic Made A-New

True artists are never satisfied with their work. This holds true with this refaced version of this epic trilogy. The enhancements made in the special effects and additional scene footage illustrates more of the vision George Lucas intended. This is not a popular opinion for those who consider themselves "Originalists" which I respect wholeheartedly. However those of us who appreciate constant evolution of art will appreciate this ground-breaking classic reintroduced in a format that again in my opinion enhances the overall experience and renews my love for this trilogy.

My wife and I wanted a refresher on the entire Star Wars saga prior to watching The Force Awakens. Unfortunately there was no way to rent it, so we had to purchase everything, paying around $80 for Episodes 1-6. We're obviously fans of Star Wars, so we're bound to say the movies were good, BUT if you're expecting a Hi Def version of the originals, think again. These have been revised, with parts of the movies edited for no real reason. I guess they wanted to streamline the story, and decided that adding clips, characters, and references to the first 3 movies would do that. In the scene where Luke sees the ghosts of his mentors for example, the original DV has been replaced by Anakin. They also added in a scene of the Gungans of Naboo celebrating at the end of Episode VI. All in all they're still great movies, but you should definitely know ahead of time what you're getting.

I had the original trilogy on VHS years ago and never got around to buying it on DVD or Blu-ray until now. Definitely worth the price. $30 for all three films on DVD and Blu-Ray? Can't beat that. The only better deal I could find was that they have a full Blu-Ray anthology with all of the first six episodes for about $70 (sometimes $60 if you can catch it on sale). The only advantage with that set is that I believe there are some extra bonus features with it that you don't get with the individual trilogy sets.

In my opinion, these are the best of the Star Wars series. I have enjoyed all of them, but keep going back to 4, 5 and 6. It's the perfect set for a rainy weekend of movie watching. I have the original on VHS, and I have the individual DVD's. I was very excited to see they came out on Blu Ray. I waited until the price came down to buy them. They were a good by at Best Buy. I like the box too. Blu Ray brings out every little detail of the ships and the action. The sound is also great. I recommend this set to anyone who loves Star Wars.

Star Wars is amazing in 1080p. The sound really is a treat for the ears on a good Dolby capable surround system, as well. The only downside is that this, as with the DVD releases, are not the originals that we grew up watching in the theaters. This is George Lucas' CGI edited version, which is not a good thing. With that being said, this is an amazing visual treat that will not be topped until Disney and Fox release the 4k versions. Hopefully when that happens, they'll revert to the original.

Great to have these movies in highest resolution format of sound and video. Star was has never grown old with me and the first three episodes are my favorites with only Episode 3 of the prequels coming close. I'm once again entering the Star Wars Universe with great anticipation of the December 18th 2015 release of Episode 7 The Force Awakens. I feel the choice of JJ Abrahms to direct Episode 7 was perfect and expecting it to be on par or better than The Empire Strikes Back, making it the greatest Star Wars movie to date.

Love it! But then again, how could I not? It's STAR WARS. I originally went in to get the complete saga box but after reading the box set I realized that it only comes with the 6 episodes and 3 additional discs of behind the scenes footage. Then I looked at the separate trilogy sets and saw that not only do you get the 3 Blu-ray Discs, you also get it in regular DVD format too. So in other words, you get two complete sets! Definitely more for your money. Besides, why do I need a box set? There's another episode coming soon.

BluRay and DVD both for a great price - a "must" for hardcore and casual fans. Played both versions on my new 40 inch LED HD TV, and I'm back in the movies again as if I'm seeing them for the first time. Sure beats my old VHS tapes. For those who think the BluRay is too sharp for the special effects, they can watch the movies on DVD (which are slightly less in quality). For those seeking to experience them with updated CGI, they can watch on DVD. Either way it's a trip down memory lane with three remastered classics! Everyone wins.

    Who doesn't love star wars

If you don't love Star Wars then you shouldn't buy this either way. This set unfortunately does not have all of the extra deleted scenes and bonus features as the full Bluray saga, however you do get the DVD version with this one unlike the full saga. If you have a Bluray player and want the extra features, I would suggest the one saga. Then you could just buy the DVDs if you need them I suppose. Nonetheless, purchasing each trilogy separately is the same price but you get Bluray and DVD. So you decide.

Okay look this should have came outt in Blu Ray years ago but for whatever reason Lucas decided he wanted to wait. The only thing I don't like and would take away maybe a 1/4 of the star is good ole Lucas adding in crazy CGI stuff that was not in the original trilogy. But other then that I really like this set and would recommend it to any original Star Wars fans who want to watch in 1080p.

I don't know what I could say here that hasn't already been said. This is the original 3 Star Wars films 4, 5, and 6, on Blu Ray and DVD. These are the films that include some of the CGI that was added in the early 2000's but overall they look great. If you have seen them and want them in your movie collection go for it, if you haven't seen them and want to here they are.

I think that the "Star Wars Trilogy: Episodes IV-VI" are the greatest classic sci-fi films of all-time and are also my favorite films of all-time. I have enjoyed these films and have also been a fan of all the "Star Wars" films of the first and second trilogies and also "Rogue One". I also think that all of the "Star Wars" films had a lot of entertaining and enjoyable action, mystery and suspense and really great and amazing casts and personal storylines.

Having seen the Force Awakens, I had the urge to re-watch the original trilogy. Picked up this version which contains the digital remastering and the added scenes. The only downside to this version is that the Anakin Skywalker that appears at the end of The Return of the Jedi is digitally swapped with the actor who played Anakin in episodes II and III which was cheesy.
