Customers consistently note the Standard Actuated Kit AC Dual Band Wi-Fi System's ease of use and quick setup as significant advantages. Positive feedback also highlights strong performance, particularly for streaming and gaming, along with excellent signal strength. However, some customers find the price to be high. While occasional downtime is reported, it appears to be infrequent for most users.

    When there's no better options

This is definitely what you need if you have no other low latency internet service options in your area. The dish is strict about having a clear view within its 100° cone of vision. The app will give you a visual aid of the dishes view and tell you if the spot is best to set up. Adding height adds clearance from obstructions. Space around the dish is needed as it can move around at full 360°. I'm overjoyed with the speed I'm getting so far. At last I have modern day internet service in my home, where I can finally handle these (example) 15+ GB updates in minutes and not hours or days, watch streams with high clarity, and game with less or no lag/high latency. The dish isn't set at a permanent spot yet. Its slightly off the ground by sitting a table getting only 2.03% of sky obstructions from tree limbs, which cause my lags or interruptions on gaming or internet service from time to time. The interuptions will be resolved when dishy sits higher with that angle of view on a pole as the app had shown while on a ladder. In its current spot on the table, I'm getting over 225 MBPS in download speed and double digit latency under 40 MS where the lower number the better the response time. And the lowest speed was clocked at 110 MBPS so far on a cloudy and raining day. Installation can be simple depending on home/business, landscape, and area. In this kit, the modem is plugged in a socket for power but this version uses one proprietary 75ft cable from the modem to the dish. This cable powers the dish and sends/receive data. Large end goes to the modem and small end goes to the dish. This end is best if you're running it through holes so keep it covered in this process. Since the dish is self aligning, you won't necessarily need a tech if you can do it yourself so that can save money although one of my complaints is in cost. This kit is expensive as this dish and the 1st generation self aligns and uses a complex array to stay connected, but necessary so even if there is a wobble in the install from winds, it won't easily mess or interrupt the service. The monthly service cost is very high at current, $120 compared to fiber or copper ISP with faster speeds. Was told it'll get cheaper once more people uses this service. But the big plus or pros is that there is no contract, no data caps so there isn't a low data limit and restrict your internet usage as if you're on a phone in the late 90s or early millenia, and you're getting much faster speeds, light years in comparison to what most rural areas get with high orbit satellite, DSL, wireless radio service (WISP), or nothing at all. Starlink is very stable and responsive due to the low latency it gets from the low orbit satellites (space train) that can be seen with luck. But despite the cons, overall I'm extremely happy with my ISP choice for my rural area when the alternative is nothing or just poor.

Review of the STARLINK - Standard Kit AC Dual Band

I recently purchased the STARLINK - Standard Kit AC Dual Band Wi-Fi System from Best Buy, and my experience has been incredibly positive. The setup process was remarkably straightforward. All I had to do was set up the dish, point it upwards, and plug it in. This simplicity was a significant plus. I took the system to Mexico, a region known for its unreliable internet, and it worked like a charm. One of the most impressive features of this system is its ability to locate satellites and self-position for optimal connectivity. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it functioned seamlessly in various weather conditions, including rain and cloudy days. A unique aspect of this system is its geolocation-based charging. Once I arrived in Mexico and the app geo-located me, the system adjusted the charges based on my location. This feature ensures fair pricing and efficient service no matter where you are. The internet speed and reliability were outstanding. I was working from Michoacan, and the system allowed me to have uninterrupted Zoom calls with my team on the East Coast of the United States. Furthermore, all my web-based programs ran smoothly and loaded quickly, which was crucial for my work efficiency. Overall, I would highly recommend the STARLINK - Standard Kit to anyone in need of a reliable and high-speed internet solution, especially in areas where traditional internet services are not dependable. It's an excellent investment for both personal and professional use.

I'm breaking up with you Viasat. Starlink is more my speed. I just can't continue this ghosting and dropping the ball and not allowing me to use the internet when I needed you most. You are so controlling. I'm sick of being your sugar-momma with minimal effort in return. You don't put out. Starlink doesn't cost me just to be with them at the crazy rates you do. We have more of a give and take relationships without the long commitment. Starlink is smaller, smarter, younger, more flexible and way Sexier hanging out on my porch. You know by my night brousing I've always been more of a saphiosexual. I hope you are not offended. No, I take that back. I have no good feelings about you and wouldn't be surprised if you crash and burn. I hope all the other humans you are ghosting leave you behind. Someday they will wake up to your nonsense and see what kind of provider you are and break away from the Stockholm Syndrom trance you've placed them in. Goodbye Viasat Hello Starlink. I should have left a long time ago. It's you not me. I'm happy to be supporting the company my little brother works for.

I just want to say, a product really has to work well and reliably for me to give 4Stars let alone 5stars has to be the most impressive product that I have reviewed! As long as you have a spot with a clear view of the sky, this thing is great!! StarLink has allowed me to get quick speeds (80-120mbps on average) out here in the middle of nowhere Iowa! It is very simple to set up and the dish automatically aligns itself with the satellites! I highly recommend this to anyone that lives outside of town and needs faster speeds that what hughsnet and the like offer! And it’s unlimited data!! No data caps or extra fees- the equipment is yours too so there’s no “renting fee” it’s worth the price (especially after not having home internet for 2 years!)

Start link was finally available in our area so we spent the up front cost of the system and for the first time in 8 years we have fast reliable internet! Where we live we can't get at&t or Comcast, so we went with t-mobile internet because it's unlimited, but it was absolutely horrible! We have now had start link for 2 months and I've recommended it to everyone that lives around me and we finally feel like we live in modern times and can enjoy streaming and using multiple devices at the same time. The set up is super easy and straight forward and it's all do it yourself and can be done within a couple of hours max. If you live in a rural area and don't have any options for cable internet I highly recommend this, you don't be disappointed!

I'm sure 100mbps isn't a big deal for most city dwellers, but it's a HUGE deal for this rural farm girl. We had been paying $100 a month for DSL through the phone company (not fiber optic, old copper lines). The best speed we ever got was 15mpbs. Starlink hooked up so easy, maybe an hour max from start to streaming. The kids are happy, hubby is happy... Life is good. Buy the dang thing!

Definitely the best internet servixe for rural areas. i'm located in Mapleton KS, we have no phone reception or a good Internet service. I'm currently paying the High Priority plan for 250$ /month which i think is a little bit overpriced but, i cant complain at all on the reliability and low ping that Starlink provides, perfect for Online Gaming NO LAG. The setup was easy and fast, it literally take less than 5 min (time may vary) Speeds are very consistent and stable.

I live in Edenton North Carolina, your two choices of Internet down here are, Hugesnet and Viasat… I was on the waiting list for Starlink, and when I figured out that you can just buy the RV version, I wasted no more time, set up took about 25 to 30 minutes, this is the fastest Internet I have had since I’ve left Verizon FiOS, when I lived in Poquoson Virginia! I do recommend purchasing a network switch! My average speed is 119Mbps The fastest I’ve had was 276Mbps here’s a screenshot of 265Mbps I know coughing up $635.00 at one time might be hard for some people, but it’s honestly worth every penny! I play guild wars with my friends using this internet! The $120 plan is all you need! It’s truly unlimited!

Starlink is easy to assemble and set up. We live in an area where internet providers are hard to find, but those that are available are still requiring contacts and charge over $125 a month, plus equipment rental. We have told family members and friends to switch because they have went through the same thing and know our house has many trees yet still gets great signal even during rain. Starlink is a no-brainer. Both streaming and gaming.

Moved from Urban area with broadband connectivity in 2020 to rural property with unstable DSL internet. Finally took the plunge and bought the Starlink system from BestBuy as soonas i saw it available for in-store purchase as delivery can be quite inconsistent out where we are. Drove into the closest Best Buy, 45 mins away and picked this up. The setup was 20 mins and within an hour I had download and upload speeds that not only beat my current DSL connection by 4x, but rivalled my old city broad band connection by double. Consistency is great, we've been using StarLink exclusively now for work and play with no interruptions or even slow downs we used to get with our DSL connection. We are a family of six, both parents work from home online all day long and four kids that are homeschooling online most of the day. We couldn't be more pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone and everyone that doesnt have the option for a fiber connection. The craziest part is that the monthly cost is comparable for both services, but Starlink is leaps and bounds ahead of the DSL offered in our area. The equipment upfront cost was concerning to us because we were affraid it was all hype but the gamble we took was well worth it. Best Buy return policy and extended warranty helped ease our minds in this regard and Im happy to report we are very satisfied and wont need to make a trip into the city for a return. For reference we are in rural north Florida on a 10 acre open field with a clear view of the northern sky with no obstruction between our dish and the satellites the internet is being pulled from.

Great that you can buy a Starlink same day you want it. Great that it works out of the box. Easy to setup to a new account and get going after the dish runs through some firmware updates. Simple plug and play if you intent to use solely the included hardware. Beats my crappy LTE hotspot by miles. Central southwest Michigan— getting 150mbps down 40mbps up when speed testing. Low pings 30-40ms. My gaming experience is much improved. Thumbs up!

This product is amazing, I live in a rule area. I have tried different services over the years trying to get a decent connection. Every internet company I have tried has put my in a contract, left me with bad service, costed a lot more. However this internet helps with both of this issues, No contracts, along with a 30 day trial, and the service is OUTSTANDING, I went from 15 mbps to 200 mbps. Definitely Recommend, there is different plans based on your environment and location as well. Love this product with a passion

    Starlink in the mountains

Installation is fairly simple but cable typically has to be fed through an outside wall and the satellite dish has to have a clear view of the sky. Setup following the app is easy. I bought a roof mount from Starlink that was non-invasive sitting on the peak. I also purchased a Starlink ethernet adapter and tp-link port to connect various ethernet equipment. The service worked great for 9 days, then failed. Starlink support reviewed my issues and sent me a new wifi router and cable. That did not work. Support sent a whole new kit which did work. I live in the mountains and just about every internet service is slow compared to city. The speed is so much faster for the price after initial investment. Starlink gave me a 1 month credit after it took me 10 days to resume service and having to install a new dish, cable and wifi router. Support is reasonably good considering it takes a few hours for a response and then a few days to receive replacement equipment. The rating would have been 5 had it not failed and it took me 10 days to get it working.

I live in the mountains and only had access to broadband shared amongst those who live in my neighborhood. It’s a signal bounced between satellites with one house serving as a central hub for dish communications. I gave Starlink a chance and it’s completely exceeded my expectations. The satellite receiver has obstructions in its FOV (reference photo) and is still providing 125+ mbps upload with anywhere from 8-20 mbps download. I stream on multiple platforms while gaming with music running in the background. I’ve even ran the receiver off a generator while hunting to make calls on Wi-Fi and check in on work emails. You’re paying for flexibility to access. 11/10. Note: I’m using the standard receiver and service. I imagine the advanced receiver and service is substantially better.

I have absolutely no complaints about Starlink and would recommend it for anyone that lives in the country. Setup took all of 30minutes snd super easy to do. We have a regular signal strength of 120+mbps and with a large part of the day reaching 200 with no outages as of yet. We live in a valley and our Starlink has a slightly obstructed view but even with that it has been carrying 3-6 devices at a time without a problem. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Picked up in store and activated it on my way home. Very easy to setup, I just ran the cord through an old access hole on the side of our house. Thought I would need to mount it on our roof but with a 98% view of the northern sky from our deck I decided to mount it on the railing. Took about 5-8 minutes to link to a satellite. Able to work from home now. Have seen download speeds of over 200mbps. Life changing for rural people.
