    Perfect wireless mouse

I've owned multiple wired mouses - Razer Naga V2, multiple Logitech, and a Glorious model-O. This outshines them all. 5 CPI inputs for quick adjustments to your mouse sensitivity, multiple RGB inputs, 9 adjustable buttons, all with a lightweight and ergonomic design. Battery life is accurate as advertised, roughly 80 hours between charges. The software may be the only drawback as it's a little weird, but ultimately I only use it to check battery status and perform firmware updates. Other than that I have it setup so the app doesn't auto-open on boot-up. 10/10 Highly recommend this mouse to anyone trying to break free from the tethers of wired mouse gaming.

    Lightweight Gaming Mouse

If you are in the market for a lightweight, wireless gaming mouse with a wired option. This is likely the mouse for you. If you do not need the lightweight feature, this is likely not the mouse for you. I'll start with the main feature sell of this mouse. It's light weight. SteelSeries has developed a very functional design by deploying negative space cut diamonds around the mouse body. The shape lends itself to stability while being surprisingly lightweight. I was shocked by just how light this mouse actually is. It feels very sturdy with no fears of breaking or "crushing" the mouse under the weight of your hand. The hollow design allows for a unique look and a nice illumination feature. Unfortunately, this is more or less the only reason to get this mouse. Ergonomically, this mouse is "ok" at best. It lays fairly flat and lacks any real comfort. I found my hand fatiguing quickly after only about 20 minutes of use. This mouse also feels extremely cheap. The plastic used is very very cheap. This is likely a decision made to aid in the lightweight feel, however, it's a textured plastic you find on free peripherals such as keyboards and mice that come with pre-built PC. Something no one wants to use, especially for a premium price or peripheral geared towards gaming. The button layout is also annoying. The silver thumb button for example, is hard to reach. With my hand properly on the mouse itself, I have to reach to press the button properly. It needs to come back about 1 or 2 inches to be actually usable. The additional buttons are in an ok position, but I still found my hand having to reach for them, and reposition itself often. The button between the left and right click changes DPI, which I did find nice. The position here is expected, and works as needed. The scroll wheel is ok, and features a click style scroll but has no option for smooth scroll. You get options with wired or wireless. This mouse features Bluetooth, 2.4GHz which require the use of the included dongle, or wired. I appreciate the true wired mode, this is what I chose to use as I find wireless too still have far too much lag, even with as good as wireless has come. I believe a true wired experience is essential when appealing to real gamers. Each mode requires the selection of the slider underneath to select whichever mode you wish to use. Left is bluetooth, center is wired, right is 2.4 wireless via dongle. I found it weird that I had to put the mouse in 2.4 wireless mode in order to update the firmware via the SteelSeris app. Updating firmware wirelessly and not via wired lacks little sense to me. However, the update ran fine without an issue. The app itself supports both macOS and Windows. Unfortunately, the macOS app does NOT support the M1 macs at this time. In a world where Apple is moving all of it's products to a full Apple silicon platform, which has been in process going on it's second year, this seems like a miss and this product should NOT be considered macOS compatible at this point in time. Granted, Macs are not the intended audience here, for folks on dual platforms, this may be a selling point only to be found out it does not work on what Apple device they are now likely running. I found the software UI to be pretty bad too. It handles the basics, and I was able to create profiles for carious situations/games, change colors, change DPI, etc... but the UI is clunky and I feel it could be cleaned up and simplified a whole lot more. If it wasn't for the necessity to allow the mouse to run better, and control it's feature, I would not have it installed. One notable feature however, it alerted me that "Windows settings are making my mouse experience bad" and by clicking the banner, it changed the default Windows mouse setting to an optimal configuration so the app could do it's thing. I found this it be an extremely nice feature. I found tracking to also be ok. The gliders are very, very smooth, though the overall mouse movement felt slightly held back. I adjusted a ton of CPI, acceleration, polling rate, etc. and it just never felt "great". Mouse movement was always just "ok". Aside from the lightweight selling point, I don't see much to get excited for with the Aerox 5 unfortunately. It looks cool, but simply does not perform to the standard I've come to expect from a top tier gaming mouse.

    Awesome Gaming Mouse

I’m not afraid to go wireless now! I’ve had gaming mice before that were wireless but I always felt like there was some noticeable lag, not much but enough. This mouse is seamless. I don’t really notice any lag at all. The buttons are very responsive, it moves exactly when my hand does. It feels like I am using a wired mouse without the wire. The build quality seems great. It feels like it was made with some really high quality materials. I love the RGB lighting and the see-through design of the mouse. It looks and feels like an awesome, high quality gaming mouse. Ergonomically the mouse is very good. My hand sits well on top and feels very comfortable. It glides easily during use and all the buttons are very responsive and have a satisfying click to them. My only gripe would be that one of the side buttons seems to be positioned a little far up on the body of the mouse. It doesn’t give me much of an issue but if you have shorter fingers it could be an issue for you. I still like it better than my previous wireless mouse and I hope it lasts longer than my “blade” brand I had before. Overall it’s a great choice for gamers. I doubt anyone is looking at this for an everyday driver but it would be great for that too.

Really great mouse all around. I got this on a sale when it came out but I feel I would have caved at retail eventually. My previous mouse was the Steelseries rival 650 wireless, so I had a good gauge on battery life and wireless performance coming to compare this with. The best thing about this mouse is that it’s LIGHT. I never realized how much that made a difference to my gaming. Took a little bit to adjust but that’s natural with all new mice. It’s beautiful addition to my RGB steelseries keyboard and mousepad. It fits in perfectly and looks great when it all syncs with the software. Why I knocked a star: The mouse sometimes looses connection randomly (I have it tucked away in back of desktop but I sit right next to it). I’m thinking it’s part wireless interference but the Rival 650 never had these issues. Nothing the toggle for off/on on bottom of mouse doesn’t fix. It doesn’t happen often enough but is something to consider. Battery life is the other problem. I don’t understand how they got the the number in the specifications for battery life but it isn’t that. Maybe 25% of what is advertised. I turned the RGB all the way down and it turns off when I move the mouse. Rival 650 had RGB (less but still had it) and it lasted MUCH longer. To top it off, when I plug in the mouse to charge it jumps %10 on charge. Unplug it and it stays at that percent. Not sure how quick a quick charge mouse is but I bet this is not normal. Maybe I have a dud but will update my review when I get in contact for warranty support. Otherwise, the mouse is amazing. The mouse moves smooth and doesn’t rock like the Rival 650 did. Virgin grade sliders are worth every penny. The open holes took a little getting used to but gives me a much better grip on the mouse. I like the feel of it, doesn’t feel cheap and overall my wrist feels better after long gaming sessions.

    Lightweight and Slippery

I was shocked by how actually lightweight this mouse was when I took it out of the box. I quickly compared it to my current wireless mouse. At nearly one third of the weight, the Aerox 5 absolutely lives up to its name. My biggest issue with its functionality is the smooth plastic of the housing. It's almost too smooth and I can't get a good grip on the mouse. My fingers slide around on the buttons smooth matte finish. Maybe this will get better as I wear down the coating, but in the meantime I feel like it's going to slip out of my hand during rapid gameplay. My other issue is with the software. The mouse operates in two wireless modes: bluetooth and 2.4ghz wireless which requires a USB-C dongle. My issue is that my only USB-C port on my computer is already being used by something, so I couldn't use it in this mode. To make it worse, the button configuration option AND firmware updates are locked into 2.4 ghz mode! This means I have no customization options whatsoever for the mouse buttons, which entirely defeats the purpose of having additional buttons. This is a huge disappointment for an otherwise stellar device.

The **SteelSeries Aerox 5 Wireless Gaming Mouse** is a dream come true for competitive gamers and everyday users alike. Right out of the box, the ultra-lightweight honeycomb design stands out—not just for its eye-catching style, but for how effortless it feels in hand during long sessions. Despite its airy build, it feels solid and well-constructed. What truly sets this mouse apart are its **impressive wireless features**. Whether you're gaming or working, the low-latency wireless connection is fast, reliable, and virtually indistinguishable from a wired setup. The dual connectivity (2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth) gives you the flexibility to switch between your gaming rig and other devices without missing a beat. With **9 programmable buttons**, it's a great choice for MMO players, streamers, or anyone who loves customizing their workflow or gaming layout. The SteelSeries Engine software makes macro programming and RGB customization simple and intuitive. The RGB lighting is stunning and customizable, adding a great visual flair—but here's the one minor tradeoff: when the RGB is fully on, **battery life takes a noticeable hit**. If you're running extended sessions unplugged, you might want to dial back the lighting or turn it off altogether. Fortunately, even without the lights, performance doesn't skip a beat. Overall, the **Aerox 5 Wireless** blends form, function, and freedom in a sleek package. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a premium gaming mouse with minimal weight and maximum wireless performance!

I have had issue with intermittent connection using the 2.4 Ghz mode, but a quick power cycle seems to resolve those. The SteelSeries application for creating macros is also a bit wonky at times, but seems to be consistent for the most part. The mouse itself is very light and has a good battery life. The build quality definitely prioritizes light weight over sturdiness, so if you are looking for something that can take more wear and tear, I'd look elsewhere. Perfectly fine for RTS's and MOBAs

The transition from a heavy mouse to an ultralightweight was jarring, but after a couple weeks using it, I cant imagine going back to something so heavy. Loving the additional buttons at my disposal on the side as well. Only gripe I have is the battery life on it. Compared to mt keyboard and headset which I only have to charge monthly and weekly respectively, this one I have to charge nearly daily / 3 days max, which has definitely felt strange. There also isnt a great indicator that the battery is low when youre in the middle of gaming. Other than that, great mouse.

The mouse is super light! buttons feel great. The rocker switch is a little odd. would much rather prefer 2 separate traditional buttons. 0 noticeable difference between wired and wireless mode. Downsides? The rated battery life is with the mouse in efficiency mode. which is 125Hz polling rate and all lights off. nobody wants a gaming mouse with 125 polling rate so I don't know why that was what was used to determine battery life. With it set to 1000hz and lights enabled. expect less than half the rated battery life. maybe less.
