From the first day I bought this mic I've regretted it. I've had a yeti I bought back in 2016 and it not only works better than the alias, but audio quality is about the same. The alias will constantly annoy you about setting up the software until you do it. I finally came to the decision to try it after it randomly lost connection to my computer several times a game session for a week. It'll just randomly disconnect screeching in my ears for a moment and severely lagging my computer. It does not buffer out other voices in a room at all so it constantly picks up my roommate. It also sets up several different audio output sources and defaults itself for audio. I could go on forever about how much I hate it. I'll leave it at that

Awesome mic for streaming while gaming

The SteelSeries Alias USB Microphone has truly been a game-changer in my audio recording and communication setup. As a new content creator intending to focus on game streaming, I demand a microphone that can deliver exceptional clarity and versatility. The Alias microphone not only met but exceeded my expectations in every aspect.
First and foremost, the setup was a breeze. It's a true plug-and-play device, and I was up and running in seconds. The USB-C connectivity is a huge plus, allowing me to use it with my laptop and desktop without the need for any additional drivers or complicated configurations. This simplicity is a welcome feature for anyone who wants to get straight to recording or communicating without technical hassles. The Steelcase Sonar software allows control of all the microphone settings and is very intuitive and easy to use with drag and drop app routing and easy to use sliders for mixing.
The sound quality of the Alias microphone is where it truly shines. Whether I'm recording voiceovers, participating in virtual meetings, or live streaming when I’m gaming, the audio quality is outstanding. The large capsule, which is stated to be three times larger than other mics, captures my voice with exceptional clarity while minimizing background noise. I've found that it effectively isolates my voice, making my recordings sound professional and polished. The frequency response is broad, capturing the nuances of my voice, whether I'm speaking, or playing a game. The software provides AI based noise cancelling that works great.
The Alias microphone also offers great versatility. It comes with a desktop stand that allows me to position the microphone at the optimal height and angle. This flexibility is a real advantage for various recording scenarios. Additionally, the integrated shock mount effectively reduces unwanted vibrations, enhancing the overall recording quality.
The microphone's solid build and sleek design give it a professional and premium feel. The volume controls are conveniently located on the front of the microphone, allowing for quick adjustments without disrupting your workflow. The 5-stage LED level meter is a handy feature to know at a glance whether the microphone is active or muted. I particularly liked the big red X that appears when the mic is muted.
In conclusion, the SteelSeries Alias USB Microphone is a top-notch choice for anyone looking to elevate their audio recording and communication game. It’s the perfect mic while gaming. The exceptional sound quality, ease of use, and versatile design make it a must-have for content creators, streamers, and remote professionals.

The Steelseries Alias streaming mic is an outstanding microphone that has some incredible features.
The microphone comes with a heavy-duty brushed metal stand, and long USB-C cable for plug and play and a boom arm adapter. Setting up the Alias is simple, just plug in the mic with the included usb-c cable, then download the Sonar software and from there you’re ready to go. The Alias does have physical volume knobs and a mute button on the mic itself. I love how there are LEDs on the front of the mic that emit a red X to let you know that you have it on mute. The back of the mic is where the gain knob is, and I wish they would have just put it on the front with the other knob. The stand is adjustable, but for some reason no matter how tight I have it, the mic will slide forward at the slightest touch (i.e., adjusting the gain knob).
The Mic has some really great features that make this stand out from other mics. For starters, the audio quality is outstanding. To test this out, I used a simple voice recording software and was able to hear the difference between this mic and some other ones I had laying around. The Clearcast AI noise cancelation works amazing, I had my kids yelling in the next room and it was able to eliminate the background noise. With the aux port on the bottom of the mic, you can plug in headphones for audio and still use the mic. Just for fun, I wanted to see if this will work with my MacBook pro, and to my surprise it did. I didn’t bother downloading the Sonar software with it, but all the main features worked great...For example, the mute button works, the red X LEDs still shined, the volume knobs worked and compared to the built-in mic the Alias sounds 10 times better.
Overall, I love the sound quality if the Alias. It really sounds like I’m using a professional microphone when capturing audio. The Sonar software offers some great features to that let you take full advantage of the Alias, my favorite being the AI noise canceling. The fact that it works with Mac is a huge bonus, as I can us this for recording voice overs in Final Cut pro. Although, if could change one thing about this mic, it would be the placement of the gain knob. It’s just placed in an awkward spot that’s hard to reach, and when I have to adjust it, I end up messing up the position of the mic. That being said, I don’t know if it’s just mine or if they are all like that, but the mic doesn’t lock into place very well. Either way, I am happy with the Alias, and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great quality mic.

Looks good, but my pc didn’t even recognize the microphone as a device. Tried everything, had to return. Definitely not an issue on my end, I have a very high end pc, but it could’ve just been one of very few that were faulty. Every other usb mic i’ve used has had no problem connecting so not sure what the issue was with this one.

So I received my SteelSeries Alias USB Gaming Microphone a little over a week ago and have been putting it through its paces. First off, I must give props the the R&D team over at SteelSeries, because they really knocked the design and quality of this microphone outta the park. This is a very sleek and beautifully designed capsule-style type microphone. Not only is it designed beautifully but it is very sturdy and solid and has a nice heft to it where its not too heavy nor is it not too light. When you open up the box, you're greeted with the Alias USB Microphone as well as a USB-C to USB-A Cable, and an adapter for those of us that want to add this to a boom arm. Behind the cloth covering on the front of the microphone is the RGB Indicator Zone which lets you know how much sound the microphone may be picking up. If, its in the red zone, then you're either in a very noisy environment or you're sitting too close to the microphone or its picking up a lot of the background noise. So you'll need to back up some away from the microphone or cut out some of the background distractions. There is another RGB light under the mouse which is cool and adds to the overall aesthetic of the microphone. This microphone also features both headphone and microphone gain dials located on the front and back of the microphone. One of the coolest features I think is the touch sensitive Mute Button located on the front. Initially I thought it was a button that you had to push in, but you simply put your finger on it without pressing down and it automatically puts the microphone on mute, which is displayed right above with a big red X. Though I tried the Alias Microphone on my Mac Mini, it really shines when its connected to my ASUS ROG Strix Gaming Desktop. This comes through after you've downloaded the SteelSeries GG software app from their website. Once installed, you are able to tweak and drag/drop the settings to your liking. Everything works so flawlessly together and sounds amazing once you start gaming. This microphone has been a blast to use and makes a nice addition to any gaming setup you have.

I’ve been taking some time with this mic and the companion sonar app. I stream with friends at least once a week and man when I say this combination is life changing it is life changing. First thing I wanna talk about is the aesthetics of the mic. It has a built in shock mount type of desk stand that is actually pretty great the build quality of it is solid and weighty. It also has an adapter for a mic stand if you so choose to go that route. The mic itself is very good it has a cloth type finish that looks real good. It has built in RGB that shines down onto the desk for some added flair. Some features the mic has directly on it is the volume knob (Output volume not mic volume), the headphone input, USB C port, and my favorite the mute button. Why you ask? Well it’s technically not the mute button but it’s what the mic does when it’s pressed. The mic has a led sort of display on the front that will shine a huge X on it if it’s muted. But when it’s not muted it gives a sort of levels bar to give you some feedback as to how loud you are. It’s not super accurate but helpful at a glance. And also the X will help you to know if you are actually muted on the zoom call. The mic quality is excellent. I was shocked at how well it picks up my voice even on my desk some ways away from my face. Then you bring in the Sonar app and the real magic and fun happens. Basically a streamers dream. Levels multiple inputs and outputs from multiple source types and apps. Tons of EQ. There are so many features to the app but I’ll just talk about a few. The mixer is great you can have multiple inputs with different sections and types such as Media, Chat, Mic, and Game. You can assign an app to each input and EQ each digital input separately. Allowing you the flexibility to change volumes to how you like it. You also can adjust how loud it is for you and have it different then the stream mix. So say if you wanna hear the game audio more (which you can EQ to have a spatial type of audio) and want have more detail in crucial moments but don’t wanna drown out your guests on stream you can have it one way on personal mix and stream have another. It adds tons of flexibility when it comes to apps and audio. The app also has EQs for the mic and great sound cancellation so you don’t hear your loud PC in the background. Ok so there is one thing that I may need alittle more time working on or an update. But I wish sidetone was a lot better. So far the only way to use it is if you plug 3.5mm headphones into the back. Which is not a problem especially with the EQ and spatial audio settings. But the real problem is delay. No matter what I do I get a slight delay. And it’s not that high of volume. I wish it would have been better integrated with the Stream Mix monitoring. I would like to sometimes hear exactly what the stream hears and I really like sidetone so I know if my yelling is too loud especially when I’m wearing headphones. When I monitor the stream audio it’s loud and clear but super delayed so I’m immediately speech jammed. I sound crazy and can’t say more than two words. That’s really the only gripe. I also messed with my buddies in chat and had my stream output as my mic input and started play music and having soundboard sounds. Fun times. Again I only scratched the surface of Sonar but man it is an awesome app. I can’t wait to see what features they add. The mic is fantastic but Sonar app takes it to the next level! If you’re a stream like me. You will absolutely enjoy this.

The SteelSeries Alias looks great, but performs better. The shock mount that it's shipped with is made of sleek grey metal, and feels hefty and sturdy. The RGB lights are bright and customizable, and it even displays a big bright 'X' when the microphone is muted so you can tell at a glance.
The physical microphone itself picks up absolutely EVERYTHING in the room, and everything is all very crisp and clear. The Sonar software lets you edit the mix and trim it down to just your voice, although the preset 'Desk Stand' mix took a lot of editing for me. At first, I was struggling to cut out any background noise without totally destroying the sound fidelity for my voice; but with some tweaking, I managed to find a sweet spot. The microphone tends to lean on the quiet side most of the time.
It sounds great just on my desktop, but if you're a fan of boom arms, it's easy enough to attach it to one. The adapter is included in the box!
Back to the Sonar software, it is very customizable. It's one of the best audio mixers for a microphone I've used. The AI noise cancellation can be amazing with some tuning in the app, and overall it's very easy to use and high quality.

I recently got my hands on the SteelSeries Alias USB Microphone for Gamers, and as a content creator and gamer, I was eager to put it to the test and add to my arsenal.
First off, let's talk design. The SteelSeries Alias USB Microphone is an absolute stunner. It boasts a sleek and modern look with its matte black finish and RGB lighting accents. It's not just a microphone; it's a statement piece for your gaming setup. The RGB lighting adds a cool factor that sets it apart from other microphones in the market, and you can customize it to match your gaming rig's aesthetic. It's a small touch, but it adds a lot of personality to your setup. It has a shock mount to limit vibration noise with desk stand, a headphone port with Microphone and headphone gain dials, a mute button, and RGB indicator zone hidden in the mic screen.
But of course, it's not all about looks; performance matters too. And I must say, the Alias delivers on that front as well. It comes equipped with a high-quality condenser microphone that captures your voice with exceptional clarity. Whether you're recording voiceovers, streaming your gameplay, or engaging in online multiplayer, your voice will sound crisp and professional. Included is the free Steel Series software with Sonar. This allows for fine tuning and customized settings for different applications and devices. The Sonar app is a little intimidating at first glance, but with a little patience and practice, it works really well to get great sound and personalized settings with a few quick clicks.
The Alias microphone is connected easily via USB. Plug-and-play simplicity that will allow you to have it up and running in seconds. No need for additional drivers or complicated setup processes. This is a big win for gamers who want to focus on their gameplay, not their equipment.
The microphone also features AI noise-canceling technology, which is a huge plus for anyone gaming in a noisy environment. It effectively filters out background noise like keyboard clicks and clacks, ensuring that your teammates or audience hear only your voice, not the chaos happening around you. This is a feature I've come to appreciate during intense gaming sessions or when recording with my little ones playing in the background.
Adjustability is another area where the Alias shines. It comes with an adjustable stand and a boom mic attachment, allowing you to position the microphone exactly where you want it. Whether you prefer it close for a more intimate sound or a bit further away for a wider pickup range, you have the freedom to customize it to your liking.
The sound quality is very impressive. The Alias USB Microphone delivers crystal-clear audio. It captures every aspect of your voice, making it ideal for content creators who want to provide captivating commentary. The directional pickup pattern ensures that it captures sound from in front of the microphone while minimizing noise from the sides and rear. This is ideal for isolating your voice and reducing unwanted ambient noise.
The Alias also comes with a handy mute button on the microphone itself. This is a small but incredibly convenient feature. Whether you need to quickly mute yourself during a conference call or silence your microphone while you snack during a gaming break, it's right at your fingertips.
In conclusion, the SteelSeries Alias USB Microphone for Gamers is a great choice for content creators and gamers alike. Its stunning and professional like design, exceptional sound quality, and user-friendly features make it a standout and alternative option for gaming microphones. The RGB lighting adds a touch of flair to your setup, while the USB connectivity and noise-canceling technology make it a breeze to use in any situation. If you're serious about your gaming and content creation, the Alias is a microphone that won't disappoint. SteelSeries has truly delivered a winner with this one.

SteelSeries Alias-The Way To Be Heard Through USB

When you open the box to the SteelSeries Alias USB Microphone, you see quality right off the rip, and once you grab it, you can tell the company chose good quality materials for a premium experience. After removing it from the box, I was able to plug in the USB-C cable and a set of microphones to the 3.5mm headphone jack and a few seconds later was recording live on my Kick channel. It interfaces with other softwares easily and works great I might add, better than the other USB setup I was already using.
First feature I must talk about, the Sonar feature, this is crazy good using the sonar for streamers software, assigning your audio inputs and outputs to different apps all while controlling all your steams audio levels, it is very well thought out. I have had zero issues using the software to date on my setup. The way you can tune the audio stream from the mic can really help get your voice to sound more alive and clear and also right in the room with your audience.
Then, guess what is next, probably the best noise cancelling of any microphone I have personally ever used or seen being used. I was streaming the other day during a heavy storm with lots of rain, wind and thunder. Usually with my old microphone, the noise would come through, ruining the experience for the watchers and for myself. When I went back to listen to my first stream with the Alias during the storm, I was flabbergasted that not one sound from that storm made it into my stream for over 30 minutes or it banging outside.
Also, are you a gamer that gets mad easily? Do you not have a boom mount that keeps the banging from going through the mic? No worries, this guy tested out the shock mount and yes, it works and does knock down the vibration from a fist hitting the desk at least 85%, only letting through the noise from the desk being hit. The modular design though makes it super easy to add to a boom, I do not have the SteelSeries Boom but the one I do use I was able to mount it to it without issue, quick thumb screw and it was on.
For audio, the microphone does not pickup low bass, which helps if you are around anything that makes deep bass sounds, even if you are in a basement streaming and the kids stomp on the floor above you, it does not pick it up, even with the noise cancelling turned off. From what I can see in the specs, the microphone does not pickup sound under 50hz, so this must be why, and makes sense as well.
And last, I have to bring up the "5 Stage LED" lighting, this is a level monitor and yes, it works. When you are trying to stay at a constant level, the LEDs will help you know if you are speaking too softly or too loudly, this is a huge help giving you a sound that people will think you have a production crew and not just a good microphone.
I really love this mic, I always wanted a great USB mic with noise cancelling that works and this one does the job and some.
