I was compeltely amazed. The youtube reviews on this headset were horrible. This headset wasn't $300.00 plus, but it's worth it. The design with the ski band separates from the rest in regards to MOST COMFORTABLE headset .The retractable mic is awesome to keep discreet when NOT gaming. The mic quality is REALLY Good for a Wireless Headset, the reviews on youtube were not accurate at all when it came to the mic quality. The cloth ear cups, prevent sweat and remained very and extremely soft. I've used Playstation Gold Headsets, Astra A50's and this in my opiion is the best on out, AND ITS ONLY $150.00. Simply put, BUY THIS HEADSET NOW!

Great sound quality for games, music & movies. Designed well. Battery last for a very long time. The mic is good. Noise cancelling is good. Very light weight. They dont get too hot or uncomfortable after long period of use. Only thing I think could've been done differently is the ear cuffs. I feel like they could've used leather or even faux leather. Very good choice for anyone willing to spend a moderate amount on a great headset. 5☆

After trying out 3 wireless headsets, the Steelseries Arctis 7 Wireless DTS is the winner! Love the quality of sounds and the most comfortable! Battery life is amazing as I forget to charge the headset and It's still going fine another 6 hour's without a charge.

The entire earpiece housing is held on by a piece of plastic at one pivot/contact point. Numerous examples online of failure at this exact location. Terrible design. The plastic housing becomes weak and eventually, the earpiece just snaps off. Not repairable at all.

    Design Fraud

    Posted .

The company placed the band so it would rub on the Serial Number. The mic died after 8 months. I tried to get it replaced. The company claimed that they can't do anything because the SERIAL NUMBER WAS RUBBED OFF FROM THE DESIGN OF THEIR BAND. FRAUD. The ware and tare was less than a year. Dishonest company. Dishonest policy's. But no worries they offered a 10% discount to buy another one! They are probably laughing pretty hard about saving the company another $150.

I originally had the Arctis 5, but decided to get these because they were wireless, you could control game and chat volumes, and I wanted to experience 7.1 surround sound. I was extremely happy with how comfortable these were as other headsets would hurt the crown of my head after an hour or two of use whereas these never did. The battery life was excellent and the button layout itself was easy to get use to. It wasn’t until I tried to raise game volume and lower chat volume that I realized it wasn’t working. I downloaded the Steelseries program and tried to updated the firmware for the headsets, but it wasn’t necessary. After reading the manual and going to the Steelseries website, it turns out that not only can you not adjust the volume for game and chat on PS4, but you also can’t enable 7.1 surround sound! This headset still got a 4 star because of how clear the sound is, comfortability and design. This item will be returned because it doesn’t provide the features I want, but if you’re not a PS4 user then perhaps it will be a better experience for you!

I work from a busy home with a fair amount of ambient noise. My company is spread out around the globe with many different accents and different levels of wifi connectivity. We use both MS Teams and Zoom to connect digitally on a daily basis. These headphones provide exceptionally good audio both for inbound sound and my outbound voice. I love the added mute button on the headset that assures me I am really on mute even if I have already hit mute on my computer. Plus, I am generally warm person and was at first concerned that the headphones would get sweaty if worn all day - luckily not at all, very comfortable in fact. They hold the charge all day even when I am on calls for hours and their range is about 25 feet which lets me move around the house when I need to. If you are not used to headphones it took me about a week to get used to the noise canceling which is a little strange if you leave them on outside of calls - but again these headphones are awesome! Oh and one other thing I plugged the wireless link into the USB port, clicked on the Power and they instantly worked - no loading of drivers - plug and play.

Deserves the stellar online reviews but bad DEMO

    |
    Posted .

After a month of research, I narrowed my choices, including this SteelSeries Arctis 7. When I tested all the display/demo units, my heart sank and decided not to buy anything. Why? Because I found the sound in the store demo set up HORRIBLE, UGLY, and all the negative adjectives I can throw at it. Maybe it's just because I'm used to real audio gears. But I went back the next day anyway to pull the trigger on the Arctis 7 as I still needed a headset regardless, and the Arctis 7 has one of the best reviews. I'm glad I did and was pleasantly surprised when I plugged this to my Razer laptop. The sound was fuller, more alive, and richer than when I listened to it in Best Buy. It is now a hundred times better than what I heard from the store demo set-up. Maybe it is also helped by the fact that I use a BONGIOVI DPS plug-in in my laptop, and it makes things sound so much better than stock, but my point being that this headset has potential to produce good sound. Anyway, here are the positives: 1. Really nice build and just the perfect size and heft. Not too bulky. My set-up is 99% Razer but made an exception for this one. The Razer headsets are just too big and heavy for me. 2. Retractable microphone. I didn't really need a mic, so I'm happy that I can stow it away on this headset and overall it would look like it has no mic at all. 3. A dongle that let's you plug in both this headset and your desktop speakers 2-way. If the headset is off, the sound flows by default to the desk speakers. When you turn this headset on, sound is automatically re-routed to the headset and desk speakers get cut off. Turn this headset off and sound goes back to speakers. In 2 weeks of use, it has worked flawlessly without a hiccup. 3. I actually liked the way the headset adjusts to the head. It has no adjustable moving parts like conventional headphones, but more of an elastic band that adjusts to your head. You can tighten or loosen it, but the default setting worked for me out of the box. This ensures no matter how I handle the headset, the fit will always be the same and no constant re-adjusting. 4. I have yet to experience any disconnections in my 2 weeks of use, I would say reliability has been a solid 100% until now. 5. I Like the deep black minimalistic appearance. Light on logos or loud designs. Almost looks like a perfect pair to my Black 2019 Razer Blade 15 laptop, and the rest of my black accessories. 6. Instant pairing, no wait times. Just turn it on and you're good to go. 7. No RGB - I love RGB all my other accessories are Razer Chroma, but all of them are constantly plugged in. This being a wireless headset, the lack of lighting will prolong battery life. And the negatives: 1. Don't trust the DEMO in the store. They sort of messed the set-up on that one and this will sound bad initially. 2. I somehow don't like the software that came with this, I think it's not yet mature. I also don't bother turning on the surround sound feature from the software as I generally don't like double amplification and enhancements and would still prefer the sound processing to be performed by my Bongiovi DPS. 3. Lastly, don't expect to get blown-away with the sound. They are definitely not audiophile grade, but I would say they sound pretty good for the purpose it was meant to be - a gaming headset. 4. And it has no RGB lighting - if you're the kind who wants to be all lit up. Conclusion: One happy buy, and I would recommend this to a friend.

Works very nicely on PC. Wireless not supported on Xbox One. I do not have a PS4, so no comments there. Plug and play is seamless for PC. I am able to swap between desktop and laptop without any action required beyond unplugging and plugging the receiver. The head strap is a little tight, but I also have a very large (size 8) noggin. This is still reasonably comfortable for extended use. Battery life is very good. Can usually get two days (~8 hours of use per day) before a charge becomes necessary. Works fine using a 3.5mm jack for Xbox One (note: only with the bluetooth refresh Xbox One controllers that have the 3.5mm jack - my launch controllers are not compatible). The sound/chat balance wheel is nice, although I occassionally accidentally set it too far to chat and it feels for a minute like the headset has stopped working until I adjust the balance back. I don't consider this a design flaw, but rather a minor inconvenience. The mute button and mute light are great. I tend to mute myself in shooters (no need to let everyone know how much I cuss) and it's easy enough to pop in and out of chat. When connecting via cord (either for charging or when using the Xbox), the cord occasionally rubs the ear cup and makes some noise in my ear, which I don't love, but that has been fairly common in previous wireless headsets that I have used when cord-attachment was necessary. The microphone does not have phenomenal sound, but works fine for gaming use. The sound quality overall is probably not going to blow away any audiophiles, but at this price point and with a primary use of gaming, this headset is well put together. The noise cancellation is respectable. Highs and mids are quite good. Voice is crisp. Bass is somewhat wanting, but in fairness this is a headset and very few headsets can effectively reproduce bass frequencies. One final note, my previous headset was amazing (Lucidsound LS35X) until it literally fell apart due to transport (in a Boulder Cases heavy-duty foam-lined equipment case). The Arctic headset has not had any cracking or deterioration with the same amount and style of transport. This is a well-built headset.

It could be a little louder, and sucks that it can not be connected to a Xbox One as well. In todays standards why do we have to purchase two different headsets that cost $200 each? It works great on pc, and is hands down one of if not the most comfortable headsets that I have ever worn. For me to say that is something, I've been a gamer since before online gaming was a thing and have been into music production for over 15 years. It's safe to say that I've owned and used more than my fair share of headsets/headphones. The quality of these are great and the sound is not completely up to my high standards, but are close to it. I have noticed that the drivers (speakers) in these are tuned to be on the bassy side and the mid tones are a little scooped out meaning they took away some of the mid tones and added extra bass. So I would not recommend these for anyone who is into music production and needs that flat response, but for someone that wants something for gaming and to watch movies with will be very satisfied with this set. Every now and again you can hear a humming noise that after some research is a known issue and for some reason is not fixable. One other thing that should be noted here is that the mic in my opinion really sucks. I have a $70 pair of PDP AG9+ that mic is 100x better than the one on this head set. That disappointed me because my main reason for purchasing these where the mic was suppose to be really good. All in all though I do enjoy this head set and I know many others will as well. If these ever broke then I would probably upgrade to the pro series set just to see if that one has similar issues, or if its truly worth the price difference.

I like pretty much everything about this headset. My only complaints are very small. It took a while to get used to them feeling loose on my head due to the way the head strap is. I am used to being able to tighten and loosen the fit very easily on my old headset (it is also possible that I just don't know how to tighten this head strap but i'm prettyyy sure you cant). However, I have now grown to like how it basically feels weightless on my head aside from the sides being on my ears. This means the headset is quite comfortable for me and I have had it on my head for over 8 hours and never felt any real discomfort. My other complaint is the dial for overall volume doesn't have a spot in the middle that you can feel (similar to how the game-volume wheel DOES). I also do not like how the mute mic button is on the left hand side so if I am playing a game I have to take my left hand off of WASD to mute (as opposed to my right hand which often isn't doing much). Despite these few SMALL complaints, I would definitely buy this headset again any day and I would recommend it to anybody who is looking for a headset in this price range. I came from the Astro A20's and I feel this headset is a much better product for about the same price.

I love these headphones and wish that I'd found them sooner. PROS: -Insanely comfortable!! You can game for hours on end and not have hot spots or discomfort -Amazing battery life! I forget to charge my headset a lot and it's rare that it actually gets to the point where I need to. -Simple set up, it's literally plug and play -Sound quality is great! You can hear twigs crack and foot steps without a single issue -A+ build quality. I usually have my headsets break down within the year CONS: -The range is decent but not as good as others -Takes a long time to charge I've have 2 pairs of Astro A20s, Astro A50, Logitech's G43 and G935, Turtle Beach's Stealth 500 and 600 and a few others. I'll never look back. These are hands down my favorite and with a price point that you simply can't beat.

I've had a LOT of 'gaming' headphones throughout the years and these are by far top tier. The quality of these are top notch; everything feels premium. There very comfortable to wear and the audio quality is great. No, your not getting reference level speakers, however for the use, these are about as good as your going to get in gaming headphones. The mic is good to, however not great. Don't expect Blue Yeti quality from it, but its better than most. Something that I found great about these is the chat/game audio rocker on the side of the headphones. Makes it very easy to balance between voice chat (in game / discord) and game audio. On top of all that, the wireless has worked flawlessly for me and the battery life seems pretty good up to this point (have owned these for a few months). If I had to critique these any, I would say it would have been a lot more convenient for them to use USB-C for the charging port rather than micro-usb. Better yet, include the option for wireless charging, even if its a separate purchase stand. The micro-usb is sorta annoying having to charge it, and I could see this being the faulty point over heavy use. Besides that, I would give these a solid 9/10 for gaming headphones. Minus one point for the higher price tag and the lack of easier charging options.

I originally purchased these for a call center job where I could have my own headphones. They were amazing for it! The range on them is good, the microphone is great, and I had no issues connecting them ever. The charge on it would allow me to use them for 3-4 days before they actually needed to be charged. The sound cancelling is also very good and they are really comfortable. I now use them at home for MMORPGs as well. I love being able to control the volume on them and the mute is easy to see as well. My only con on them is that they are not as adjustable as I would like. I have a smaller head (female here), but they are still good. They do fit well and I have been able to get them adjusted. It may just take a bit.

Small excerpt before I review these, I did not use the stock earpads, I used Brainwavz hybrids. Everything we have heard is true about these, I stayed away for awhile from purchasing these, as I use wired headsets with dac/amps, but the comfort is the best for me once I changed the earpads. These fit my head and mileage will vary, but if they do and you change the earpads, these are the best. The sound has to be tweaked as music sounds horrid and game sound needs tweaked, but that's why engine 3 is there. If your a person who does not want to tweak, stay away because out of box, these sound bad. After 2 days, I have perfect eq settings and I love them. Battery life is spot on as I used them for a total of 20 hours and battery is still going. Mic is solid, a bit nasally, but a little above average, the silver lining is versatility. I can use these as wireless or run them through my dac/amp wired and have the comfort and the sound of the arctis 5 with wireless. I only used these in pc, but they are superb, but you may want to switch the pads.

Most gaming headsets don't sound great, especially wireless ones but the Arctis 7 is decent enough. You can make these sound better with EQ and/or swapping out the pads if you need to. Where the value lies with this headset is the features. The chat-mix dial and mic mute are extremely convenient if you use an app like Discord often. Wireless range is pretty good overall, I'm able to walk several rooms away and still stay connected. If you absolutely need the convenience of a wireless gaming headset, this is a great buy. If not, you're better off getting a quality higher end headphone and separate mic.

I purchased these after looking at a variety of different headsets. I wanted good sound, mic quality, wireless capability, and comfort and received all 4 with these. I have a bigger head and the size and fit are great with no discomfort. They are adjustable and can go a bit bigger or smaller too so everyone should be covered. The mic quality is acceptable for my gaming needs, but you get what you pay for obviously. If you are really into streaming and want that crystal clear sound you are not going to get it, but you come in loud and clear to your friends while enjoying a game session. The wireless works well and as long as you aren't trying to use them on the other side of the house, you should be fine. Maybe don't go out for a run or something thinking they will work still connected to your computer. As far as the sound goes, I like the adjustments you can make to them, including boosting the bass a little. It makes music and movies sound a little better, and for the price, I think it is very good. Playing fps games, you get all the benefits you are looking for with surround sound to pick up when someone is far away or right behind you. Overall, I'd happy with my purchase.

    Gamers' ideal wireless headset

I was looking for a gaming headset and found so many that my head began to spin. In the gaming aisle alone there were over 40 makes and model of headsets. I tried every one I could. I am an ex-recording engineer, so I have a pretty good ear for evaluating sound. I liked the feel of the steelseries headset as they were comfortable to wear and didn't pinch or put too much pressure on my head. The weight was balanced and felt like it was a quality product. The mic works very well and I can mix between the game sound and other players. Now I will admit that the Arctis Pro (wired and wireless) do sound better than the Artctis 7 that I got, but they cost significantly more. I think the Arctis 7 is at the good balance between sound and price. There are so many features that you can tweak to your heart's content. My only gripe is that I wish it had RGB lighting but to maximize battery life they did not include RGB lighting. I highly recommend these headphones, but each person is different and may have different preferences.
