Best headset I've owned so far

I've owned a lot of headsets over the years. Most of them were turtle beach which explains why I've had to always replace them. I was looking for something natively wireless to the Xbox and the steel headband seemed like a nice touch. So far I've had no connection issues which is the most common complaint I've seen. Other complaints about microphone volume can be easily remedied by attaching the headset to a computer and adjusting the settings to your preferences. Would that be easier with on unit controls? Yeah absolutely, but at least there's a solution. If you don't have controller issues (random disconnects etc. ) then I imagine you wouldn't have issues with the wireless interface of the headset. If you do have issues, check your routers 2.4ghz channel to see if it helps (its helped me in the past). Otherwise sounds quality, battery life, build quality, and microphone quality are all good in my book. The price isn't great, but console headsets are always expensive.

Lots of problems with connectivity. The sound is pretty decent, it does lack a bit in the bass frequencies. Would give this a 5 star for comfort. Definitely did a great job with the top strap. This is all well and good, but it has tremendous problems connecting to xbox one. It will constantly drop and i will have to turn it off mid game, and turn it back on. Typically 50% of the time it will turn back on the sound, but then that chat function wont work. So you have to try again. Repeat this process over and over again until you finally give up and dont enjoy playing games anymore. I would have returned it if it was not in the middle of covid lockdown when i made the purchase, it has been too long at this point i believe. Do not buy this to use with an xbox, you will be greatly dissatisfied. And yes, I have tried everything online with fixing myself and turns out a lot of people have this problem, and it is a known issue that will never be resolved from what I understand.

These headphones are awesome. They are super comfortable and feel great. It’s nice you can run Bluetooth at the same time as the video game. The wireless connection works every time with my series X, however, it rarely worked on my Xbox One. I believe because my Xbox One was one of the original Xbox Ones back in 2015. This is why I gave it 4 stars. It works best on the Series X. Would recommend these headphones to anyone!

Great bulit quality with fantastic sound quality, definitely recommend. Works great with my XSS and A71 5G together at the same time, no need to take them off to answer a call. I'm definitely happy switching from Turtlebeach 700s G2 to Steelseries 9Xs. I found the 9Xs to be very comfortable and light on the ears and scalp. The cuffs not only block out noise decently but are breathable, light, and feel great to wear all day. I use these 10+ hour per day and found them to not only last but be completely comfortable the whole time. Although I perfer separate chat/game volume controls the mix wheel along with a master volume works better then I'd thought and the Master actually turns down BT as well unlike the 700s. Overall I'm highly impressed with Steelseries 9Xs great sound and fantastic noise canceling mic that actually works great, I can run my loud A/C with no complaints from my party members. I can't say enough good things about Steelseries they've definitely earned their reputation as one of the best available. Very happy gamer here, even at $200 these are a steal.

This is a solid headset. Battery life was good, sound is pretty good, comfort is also pretty good, overall its a good headset. That said at a 200$ price point i expected it to be better. My other headset is a turtle beach elite pro 2 and would say other than being wired its better in every way.

This is coming from an Astro A50 owner: The 9x is better in every way. Sound quality, voice quality, battery, and the fact you can Bluetooth it to your phone at the same time? So awesome. At $100 cheaper than the A50 this is easily a no brainer.

When it's working correctly it is great that 95% of the time. Sound, battery, everything is good. The bad.... it disconnects and when it disconnects it causes my xbox series x bluetooth to stop working. This means my controller disconnects and neither the mic nor controller will reconnect until I hard reset the Xbox. This can happen anytime... very annoying... especially when I'm in a game...

Ear piece broke within first year but worth the co

This headset is AMAZING. Woukd definitely recommend. The only reason this review is 4 stars qnd not 5 is because not even a year into owning the headset the side with the mic is now broken. Not broken as in it wont connect to Bluetooth or anything like that. How it is broken in the fact that i can easily rotate the headphone qlmost 320 degrees. Where as before it only rotated as it was supposed to. This was not due to miscare on my part. I wore it for gaming and work purposes. I would carefully place and remove the headset from my head. And when storing it, i would place the headband on a rod that is mounted to the wall. There is no reason the ear piece should be broken... So to get to the point the headset is an amazing product, worth the money 110%. Audio is unbeatable. Comfort is a 9.5/10 (only cause they are a tad heavy). Connecting/Pairing is fairy simple, just wish the instructions were more clear. Had to google how to pair it with devices other than an xbox when those instructions should have been in the manual... As for my headset it is broken but still works perfectly audio wise. Just with the earpiece being the way it is, makes the feel a bit more uncomfortable.

I've owned 3 of these, the sound quality and comfortability cannot be beat with the weight ratio given! Easy to use and Bluetooth friendly, However buy these via BestBuy because they haven't lasted me longer than a year! (I use them very often)

I’d go with a five star, but the reality is that the headset doesn’t always connect when I turn it on after already starting my Xbox Series X. It does, however, work like a champ when I use it to start my Xbox. Love the sound and comfort… way better than the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 where it matters. I.e. sound and comfort.

I've had MANY Xbox headsets over the years. Prior to this one, my most recent was the Microsoft Xbox Wireless headset ($99). There are three main things I wasn't thrilled about with the MS headset, that this one fixes. 1) comfort. The MS headset would need to be repositioned constantly. The 9X does not. It is very comfortable. 2) Mic quality. The MS headset made me sound compressed or a little like a robot, as my friends would say. the 9X mic sounds really good. 3) sound quality. The MS Headset was pretty good but the bass could get muddy. The 9X sounds really good and the spatial audio is great. The is a bit less bass but not in a bad way. It just sounds better. Also, I highly recommend the Dolby Atmos Headphone app on the Xbox. It has great spatial separation and a custom EQ if you want to tweak the sound a bit or add back some bass. Add bass back to the 9X via the Dolby is sounds better than how the MS headset sounded.

I bought these in March 2021 and just recently stopped working. I turned them off, came back a few hours later and they just won't turn on anymore. At first I was using them with my Xbox One and the connection was awful it would disconnect 2-3 times and I would have to turn them off so they could pair again, but after reading some reviews saying that the issue is the Xbox one and it works best on the newer Xbox series x/s so I kept them until I got my series x. There is no disconnecting with the Series X, but now it just stopped working... For a $200 headset the sound is great, the mic is good, no echoing, comfortable, charge lasts long, footsteps are heard, but it didn't even last a year. If you can get it on sale go for it, but this headset should be around $130.

While the sound is great and they feel extremely comfortable (probably the most comfortable out of all the headsets ive tried. ) i did not like the microphone. I dont like the mics that make u feel like ur in a box when chatting online. This does with no customization for mic monitoring. The Bluetooth capability is a plus though.

Had issues at first with the headset staying connected, but I believe it was due to my Xbox being plugged into an extension rather than directly to the wall. After I moved it I had no issues. Only issue now is the volume dial is slightly finnicky. The sound in the left ear goes out of the dial stops in just the right spot, but once I have it at the right volume and can hear through both there isn’t any issue. Past that I’ve had no problems with it. Battery life has been fine, but I also only play a few hours a week.

    Great sound. HORRIBLE build quality

    Posted .

Would not recommend these after purchasing my second pair due to the first ones cracking at the joint where the ear muff meets the headband. My second pair i figured id be extremely careful with them and maybe it was my fault the first time around. Well doesnt seem to be the case. The headset sits pretty tight on the head and there is no way to adjust the band, because of that it seems it puts a lot of strain on the single and fragile joint connecting the two. I will not be purchasing a third pair which is unfortunate considering they are one of the only ones on market with the ability to bluetooth a phone as well as the Xbox so that i dont miss any phone calls while playing my game. Also the sound quality and mic are great as well. The cracking and breaking issue eventually renders these headphones useless within a year and at this steep price they should have top notch build quality. For that reason id say stick to something else. For around the same price i would stick to the Astro A50s who have a solid build quality and great sound and audio quality just no bluetooth

Best headphones I have ever used. Great sound quality (not as good as beats), comfortable, noise cancelling is balanced so I can still hear the outside world, long life, love that it can connect to multiple devices so I can multitask and the price is so good for what you get.

I've had this headset for two years with little to no loss in sound quality or connectivity. Sits well on my head, I dont sweat with it on, the battery life is pretty long and you can charge and play with it if you get stuck in a Destiny 2 Raid or intense Overwatch 2 Competitive match. I will say the one thing I'm not totally a fan of is the elastic band used to keep the headset, well, on your head. As the years have gone by it has lost most of its elasticity which makes it just a flacid band on your head. Still I highly recommend this headset for Xbox, PS4/5, and PC.

I upgraded to this headset from a Turtle Beach headset that broke. Pros: Good construction and comfort and great sound. I like the various volume and game vs chat balance adjustments. Definitely better fidelity than my old headset. Cons: No/little sidetone (ability to hear myself talk) even after adjusting using the computer app. That annoys others in the house, cuz I'm louder when talking during gameplay. Also, from time to time the mic will disconnect. It's not often enough to be a significant issue, but a bit annoying. It's always resolved by powering off the headset and turning back on. Sound continues to work when this happens, so a lot of times I don't immediately notice it. Definitely annoying when playing multiplayer/co-op games and you don'r realize your team can't hear you until the action heats up.

First off, the sound is terrific. The mix dial to adjust in game to party chat is a big plus when i want to to just tune out the chat I turn the knob. Battery life is pretty good. Bluetooth works as expected. The only drawback for me is the padding on the ears. I wish it were a bit thicker because my ears actually rub against the inside on the headphone.
