Customers are saying
Customers commend the fun and engaging core gameplay, highlighting the enjoyable class system and the attractive steelbook packaging. However, some find the story underwhelming and the difficulty challenging, with a few noting that the dialogue could be improved. Great game, extremely slept on
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I felt this game didnt get enough attention. It has a great class system that encourages you to use each class and the build system is extremely easy to follow. Its also coop with up to 3 people. Its mindless fun and if you’re a fan of ninja theory games this right up your alley as well.

Amazing
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The gameplay is fantastic, some of the best arpg gameplay out there. It was done by the same people who made the Nioh games and has some slight souls elements to it. The story is also genuinely amazing. It might seem like it's leaving out details but the game expects you to think about it and read the lore you find in levels, mission descriptions, and loading screens. There really isn't anything "unexplained" so long as you pay attention. The soundtrack is great, with a great battle theme and remixes of songs from past final fantasy games. The graphics aren't the best but it didn't bother me, plus they've just recently updated the game and improved lighting in some areas. Performance wise it runs at mostly 60fps on ps5 in performance mode with occasional fps drops and one level having a weirdly bad frame rate. I don't understand how they couldn't get this game to a locked 60fps especially with the graphics it has and compared to other games on the ps5, but the fps drops didn't really impact my enjoyment. I really enjoyed this game and so far it's the best game I've played this year. The game is definitely not for everyone, but go in with an open mind.

Not as bad as the demo
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Better than the several demos made the game seem. This is an action-adventure with RPG elements in the same vein as Nioh. It's set in the same world as the original Final Fantasy and serves as a prequel of sorts. Good game to buy on sale.

Not terrible, not great.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As an avid FF fan, i have to say that this title feels mediocre to me. The combat is fun, but not turn based like older FF games. The graphics leave a lot to be desired, though graphics are one of the things i care about the least, so not a deal breaker for me. The dialog is very, very cheesey. Usually i get really drawn into a FF game and it is hard for me to put down, but i find myself not playing for a few days at a time (granted i have other games i am playing that just came out). I am not TOO far into it yet, so i am really hoping that it picks up the pace a bit.

Another Great Final Fantasy Game
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is tough however, I had a lot of fun with it due to its excellent gameplay and neat little references to past Final Fantasy games. If you’re an FF fan, I would high recommend this game to you.

Final Fantasy Souls
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is Square Enix's answer to games like Demon Souls and Bloodborne. It has a very similar combat system and dark aesthetic along with the ability to play 3-player co-op online in order to get through missions. However, it employs the FF job system and acts as a sort of prequel to Final Fantasy 1 (hence the Origin in the title). It is developed by the same team who made the Nioh games, so if you like those you should feel right at home. Don't be dissuaded by the perceived difficulty; there are selectable difficulty levels so between that and co-op play, anybody should be able to get through the game. Highly recommended.

Give This Game A Chance!! So. Much. Fun!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yes the graphics aren't the best, and the story is over the top and bizarre... but gameplay is the most important part of any video game. Stranger of Paradise offers an excellent in-depth combat system that lasts 100+ hours should you choose to explore what this game has to offer. The way Team Ninja crafted the job system is great and provides the flexibility to easily switch up your play style. Definite buy for Final Fantasy and/or Nioh fans. The negative reviews only touch on surface level aspects without actually giving this game the chance it deserves. You should give this game the chance other reviewers did not. You will be happy you did!

Chaotic fun!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The story and characters are hilarious for all of the wrong reasons but it works in a The Room kind of way. The game play is actually quite fun. The core play loop is Soulslike but there are multiple layers to the combat that tie into your play style and strategic skill tree choices. Fans of the first Final Fantasy will dig the setting, art and character cameos. This game was developed by Team Ninja; makers of the Ninja Gaiden and Nioh series.

Solid Game, Fun Easter Eggs
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not the kind of game I normally play, but a great love letter to the final fantasy franchise. Gameplay can be punishing but rewarding when you succeed. Story is surprisingly deep and made me emotional at the end. Huge fun seeing the references to other FF games in the environments and lore. Recommend this for FF enthusiasts and who aren't afraid of a challenge. Only complaint..... I wish the dungeons had maps. I got lost so many times!

Really fun, really ugly
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you like Final Fantasy, you will like this game. If you like Dark Souls (anything from them), you'll enjoy this game. I'm playing on hard, and it's hard! I love that they include hints in both the levels and music to other final fantasy games. I've come across several so far. The game's dialog isn't cheesy but it also doesn't take itself that serious, which works in this games favor. My biggest complaint right now...the visuals. I'm playing on a PS5. HDR looks awful. I bumped the brightness up to 75 in the game and it helped a little. Some people say to disable HDR but I found the game to look full. If I want to play in performance mode....it changes the resolution to 1080p and claims to be 60fps. I can't tell you it doesn't hold that. I ended up playing in resolution mode which isn't that much different and looks way better. I have an LG E8 oled so it's not my TV that's the issue. I play all my games in performance mode usually. There's a lot of great things that you'll like about this game. I just can't stress how bad the visuals are. The only thing worse looking lately is Babylon's Fall...ironically another SE game in 2022. You'll really enjoy the game if you like FF or DS, but don't show your PS5 off with this one to friends.
