This is a leak detection system that does not shut off the water if it detects a leak but does alert you of the slightest water usage. It basically listens to the pipes. Way better than leak detection pads that sit in the floor by one leaky spot.

This device works great, good to know how much water I am using for certain tasks. It has already alerted me to a couple of leaking toilets.

I was looking for a easy method to know if my municipal backup sump pump was operating while we winter 5 months away from home. Since my water is metered it can cost lots of money should the sump pump fail and the municipal water is used. I tested this device before leaving and it sent me notification of a major leak within a couple minutes.

My last water bill was a whopper because the water inlet valve on one of me toilets had a minor leak and wouldn't stop leaking into the tank. It just slowly kept filling and going out the overflow tube. If I had had the Streamlabs monitor then, I would have known. It is very easy to install and very accurate. I check it often against the water meter and it is spot on.

Struggled to set it up, But it may have been my IOS update.
The usage information is interesting, but not worth the cost of the subscription to get it beyond the free trial.
I get alerts every time someone takes a shower, not sure it will detect a slow leak.

Streamlabs Water Monitor

The Streamlabs Water Monitor is meant to be installed on your main water supply entering your home. I strongly recommend verifying you have a good install location before purchasing this product. It requires WiFi service and 110 volt AC outlet at the install location. It needs to be protected from the weather. Although the installation steps are clear and simple, the actual install is a bit tricky.
I did have a suitable location, and proceeded to begin the install. WiFi was good at the location, so I plugged in the device, downloaded the application to my phone, and got it connected to WiFi. Next, attach it to the pipe using provided zip ties. Finally, attempt to determine the type of pipe it is attached to. Nothing. Removed device, cleaned pipe yet again. Same issue. Removed device, replaced sensor pads on device (they give you spare pads and ties), used sandpaper on the pipe to really get it shiny, and had same results. I called support and left message. No response, so I called them the next day. I got a call back a couple of hours later and spoke with support who had me press on the monitor in order to get the pads pressed firmly on the pipe, and tighten the zip ties. It would start to identify the pipe, then after a few minutes, it lost the connection. I finally applied a couple of clamps and left it this way until they send me more zip ties and pads.
Once connected and pipe identified, you need to turn off all water flow so the device can determine what no flow looks like, then you need to turn the water back on and flush a toilet or run a sink for a little obit so it can determine what flowing water looks like. Then it is configured.
Within the app you have the ability to see how much water has been used today, and eat the Mode to HOME or AWAY. It appears that if you have multiple monitors, they would all appear on this page. Tapping on one of thee locations brings up details for that monitor. This shows the current flow of water in Gallons Per Minutes, and a graph showing the last minutes water flow. Also shown is the room temperature - where the device is located. There are also charts showing the amount used by the day, month, and year, pulse a Comparative Usage comparing todays and yesterday. It is unclear to me at this time what to do with all this information.
But now we get to the good part - letting you know if there is an leak or not. This is set up by device, in case you have multiple monitors. With the Home Mode Leak Alert, you can set it up to learn your normal water usage, and left you if it eats out of the ordinary. This takes 7 days to perform. This is an optional step that was labeled as Beta. I’m a sucker, so I am letting it do its thing. While waiting for this to be configured, you can set up alerts manually. You can set up both Slow Leak Alerts and Major Leak Alerts. First, the Slow Leak Alert will notify you of slow leaks if the flow is over either 0.5 gpm or 1.0 gpm, your choice, and for 5,10,15, 20, 30 or 60 minutes, again your choice. Major Leak Alert gives you a choice of 2, 4, or 6 gpm for longer than 2.5,5,10,15, 20, or 30 minutes. The Away Mode Leak will notify you if any water flows while you are away. The alerts come through on the phone if you are not in the application, otherwise the app shows the alert. Apparently you can’t set up text alerts.
Smart home integration is currently lacking a bit. You can connect it to both Nest and Amazon Alexa. With Alexa, you can say you are home or away - that is it. With Nest, you link the Home and Away on each other, so when one is change, the other also changes. I have the Alexa connected, but not my Nest thermostat, as I don’t want that particular connection. Some other possible integrations would be with SmartThings or IFTTT or, Stringify.
One feature I believe is missing is an option to exclude certain times in the Away mode. This would be so that an automatic sprinkler can be ignored, and you aren’t notified every time it goes off. Also text alerts would be really sweet.
Overall, I am happy with my monitor and am looking forward to more features to come.

A hassle to set up and the app is horrible. I’m not convinced this device is accurate compared to my water bill in regards to gallons per day. Could be user error but I don’t know. It’s only been a month. Time will tell. Just be mindful.

It repeatedly failed to complete calibration after a dozen attempts. I finally added a couple more zip ties around the entire unit, in the middle instead of the ends, and it finally registered a good read, calibrated, and is working for now.

Overall a good system for detecting the flow of water, and how much, but I haven't had much luck with the leak detection. Granted, covid means we aren't showering or doing chores at the same time as usual, so it's smart system couldn't figure out when it was a leak or just usage.
