I bought this to compare to our usage with our water bill. It is installed on a 3/4 inlet copper pipe. It is configured correctly. It uses vibration through the pipe to determine flow. It isn’t very accurate.
It cannot sense small amounts of water. So if you truly have a slow leave like a faucet running at a minimal stream it doesn't pick it up. It sometimes says water was used in small amounts when nobody is how and there are no leaks. I measured the water in a five gallon bucket to compare to its amount and it said 9 gallons to the physical 5 that came out. So basically not realy worth the money. It can not detect small leaks while your gone which most leaks that cause big damage are small. We had a leak from a garden house the was a small spray that ran down in the basement for three days that filled it because the plug was in the drain. This would not have picked that up.

Device was easy to install, although locating a place where power was available was a little challenge. WiFi range is about average...where I locate it is on the edge of my WiFi coverage, so initial setup was slow and a little glithchy, but operation has been good. Being able to monitor water flow for possible leaks is great since we have a complex plumbing system.

I’ll get right to the point as there is not much to say other than it works mostly, is somewhat easy to install requiring just a little bit of patience, and has an intuitive app which walks you through install although it could be improved. The issue here is that if you install the device before going through the instructions, you may end up having to uninstall it because it requires that you scan a bar code printed on the system. If that happens to you, you can use the code printed on the box as long as you still have it.
My house is bigger than average and the fact that it provides near real time info on water usage is a big plus to me. It will alert you of leaks as long as it is greater than ¼ GPM. Personally, I consider ¼ of a gallon per minute in a 24-hour period as a lot but at least it gives you peace of mind for more serious leaks.
You should be aware that this is not battery operated, requires an outlet, is supposed to be installed inside, and requires Wi-Fi which can be a challenge if the signal is not great where you are installing it.
There are just a few commands you can use with Alexa but there is not much to set anyway. I wish it could detect when you are away or at home since it supports Nest. In addition, the graphs could be better.
In summary, this system can save you thousands of dollars not only in water bills but especially in damages to your property. Totally worth it.

Extremely easy to install and setup. After having a leak this is worth gold to get alert s at such affordable price. Cheap insurance. This can be Combined with a zwave valve to shutoff water too .
Other solutions would require plumbing and added costs but all off these are worth the investment. You who had a leak will appreciate this device

I purchased another water monitoring system, but kept getting leak detection when my RO system, Sulfer eating system, water conditioner, or water softener would go off. I have used this for several weeks and so far so good. I'm impressed with the app and love the daily water usage. It was very easy to set up!

The product was easy to install and set up. We got it primarily to monitor for water leaks when we’re away from home and it’s perfect for that. No flow = no leaks and the house is ok. Easy peasy to get up and running in less than a half hour.

So fare the monitor has been very helpful. Watching the water necessary to keep the pool at a normal level. With evaporation it seemed like we were using a lot of water, now I can see if another problem exists.

Weird Readings - App easy to use though

Every morning from midnight to 6AM, we got really weird readings showing we used near 100 gallons of water - while we were all asleep. The readings after 6AM seemed to be accurate. We stayed up or got up a couple of nights to see if water was actually running - and it wasn't. We confirmed this with the city water meter as well. We ended up returning it.

Good meter for well water consumption

This review is based off of using this monitor in the basement, on well water, with 2 expansion tanks, and a open loop geothermal unit. For me, the purpose of this device was more to understand the consumption of my geothermal unit as opposed to leak detection.
When I received this unit, the first observation is that the manufacturer spent time and effort on the packaging and materials. Out of the box there is the monitoring device, zip ties, an extra set of sensor pads and the instructions. Due to just moving into an older house, and making some changes, I installed this on brand new .75" copper pipe.
First step is to install the app and from there the app will guide you through setup. The walk through is easy to follow, however at my first placement I didn't have the monitor fully seated, I believe due to the placement being in a tight space between fittings, and therefore it wouldn't work. I moved the monitor to a larger stretch of pipe and had no further issues. I used the enclosed zip ties and had to take a few attempts to get them tight enough to fully seat the device. Upon setting up wifi and monitoring, the app gave me error messages about wifi connectivity (I confirmed wifi was at recommended speeds) and the device connecting during set up. I ignored most of these messages and restarted a few times and was able to get it to work.
Thats it, zip tie device, set up app, and run the test, setup is now complete.
I am finding that this device can measure the 1000+ gallons my geothermal unit uses, and I can then change my thermostat to be the most efficient during the day and limit water usage. At first, it showed as a "leak" when my expansion tank was filling, however I haven't had any additional leak warnings after the first 48 hours post install.
Pros:
Temperature at device location
Consumption listed in a graph by hour
Comparison from present to prior day, prior week and prior month.
Alerts for slow and major leaks, with settings to adjust.
Cons:
App based device setup is finicky
Overall this device is great, especially if you have concerns about leaks, and hopefully the app setup will become more stable as updates are rolled out.

A useful IoT Device

Overall the Streamlabs Wi-Fi Home Water system is a useful device. It helps monitor water usage and alert you of potential leaks. This is something handy having dealt with a leaky toilet in the past, knowing I have water running in the house would have helped me find it fast. This also helps you monitor and get a better idea of your water usage in the house and determine what you can do to reduce that.
*Installation*
The streamlabs requires the use of an App, so an iOS/Android device is required for this. That said they did a really nice job with the App. It walks you through installation and tries to make it as painless as possible. What I did like about the App setup is I happened to be doing this while I had network trouble at the same time and even though I had to exit and restart a few times the App picked up where it left off, and never was I in the position of having to do a full reset, reinstall etc. This is something that you don't normally see and shows Streamlabs is focused on the product because they spent the time to make the App usable and understand issues happen.
Setting up is simple, within the App you create an account, and then it walks you through first getting the device onto your Wi-Fi network (Note this device only works on the older 2.4 GHz network, which makes sense since your water line is rarely in a good line of sight to your router). Once that is done they walk you through attaching it to your pipes. This can be done by one person with no tools, which is great. All you need to do is find a place near where the water inlet to your house is to mount it. I had to remount mine because I choose a bit of pipe (it was easier to reach for my height) that was floating free and didn't have anything behind that. That prevented the device from being able to ultrasonically read my water flow. However since the Streamlabs is attached using zip ties, a couple of snips and moving it so there was a wall behind it, allowed the device to detect/monitor my water flow. Please note when you do this, to calibrate the device they need the water not to flow, and recommend you turn off the water. So when installing pick a time when it is convientent to have the water off. After it reads the non-flowing pipes they recommend you flush a toliet. When I did, I was impressed. My toilet is rated for 1.9 Gallon flush and that is what the App said was my water usage. After that you can set leak alerts for slow/large leaks. This may take some tweaking to better understand how your applicances etc use water in the house, though the defaults weren't too bad for me.
*Usage*
Using it is simple, it sits and monitors your water, if it detects a leak, or someone taking an extra long shower you get an alert on your device. While it can't tell you where it is coming from, it can tell you its occuring giving you time to react before potential damage is done to your house. Additionally they have an away mode, which I assume is more aggressive in noting water running, again letting you know when your out and allowing you to react instead of coming how to a scene from the Titanic in your living room.
So far I'm very happy with Streamlabs. They made a product, that so far, works as expected, has an excellent application and is easy to install with no tools. Only thing you need is access to your water line and a wi-fi signal and your in business. If you are interested in monitoring your water as well getting alerts on leaks and want a device that you can install with no hassle, I think Streamlabs is a winner.

While this product was inexpensive and works with Alexa, it does not shut off the water if there is a leak. This might be OK, if you are home, but is not helpful if you are away from home or out of town.
