This is a really helpful device for anyone that wants to monitor water usage or have an early warning system for water leaks. It has a really nice companion app that goes along with it (and it's free). Installation in my system was incredibly easy, as it states in the instructions. I have a couple of nice stretches of pipe to choose from. It can't be any easier to attach it to your water feed, all that's needed are 2 cable ties (included), to tie it against your water pipe. What is possibly a bit of a deal breaker for some people is the fact that this guy does need a 120VAC outlet for the small power supply that drives it. The good part is, the power supply has a nice long cord on it so that might make installation easier for most peoples' systems. You don't need to install it right after your water meter if it's not convenient for you, but you do need to install it before your main water line T's or splits. It connected to my home WiFi without any trouble at all and the app pretty much walks you through the installation step by step. The app is set up nicely and is very intuitive. The main screen is a simple display that shows you if water is running or not, and how many gallons were used so far today. Tapping on the gallons used, it brings you to another page that shows the gallons per minute meter and the room temperature where the device is located. At the bottom of that display it shows a daily, monthly or yearly usage chart so you can see very quickly how much water you've used at any given time of the year. Below that it shows a comparative usage chart that gives you a comparison of water used today and yesterday. Finally at the bottom of the page, it shows you any alerts that have been registered. This device will also work with Nest or Amazon Alexa if you want to integrate it into either of these systems. I don't use either, so I can't comment on this feature. You can set the alerts based on water flow and length of time. Since I have daughters who like to spend a lot of time in the shower, I found I had to alter the default settings just a bit so that I didn't get alerts every time they showered. You can set alerts for "slow" leaks and "major leaks" independently, and it will notify your phone when any alert has been recorded. It would have been nice to see a "time of day" setting, so that you could set up different monitors for different times of the day, but they did include a basic "home" and "away" mode switch so that you can differentiate between those two conditions. I found this system to be very well thought out and extremely useful while being intuitive at the same time. Set up for me was a snap, although that's going to depend on how your system is plumbed and if you have an outlet conveniently located near the location you choose to mount it. This is a great way for anyone to monitor your water usage and to also have a way to give a heads up warning of a possible leak. Nice product.

Leak sensors are nothing new, but this implementation is something out of sci-fi. The app is well-designed and quickly shows you your water usage, the most intensive usages, and allows you to rapidly make your home more efficient one tap at a time. Installation is a breeze - it takes a total of 10 minutes. The only concern you might have is having power close enough to the main water line. From there, you can test each tap's water usage, customize alerts, you name it. It takes a few seconds to update current usage, but you can easily catch minor and major leaks along with just wasteful water usage within minutes. Highly recommended to those who want to know how they're using their water.

Product is fine - does its job, but it turns off my water every time I’m using more than a regular amount. It turned off just now as I was washing dishes! The app is not helpful. It’s very limited- even with the enhanced version. There’s no place to adjust water flow, no place to add another person’s phone number or email in case of emergency, and no button for history of water flow. The app needs a lot of help!

It's kind of amazing that you can get an ultrasound monitor like this to measure water flow from the outside of a pipe. Then, to have it connect to your WiFi network and have real-time flow rate information available on your phone is really cool. The leak detection/notification function could be useful, but it remains to be seen how well that's going to work. While it says "easy setup" you really need to check out your location before you buy to make sure it'll fit. Plumbers don't typically add a lot of extra pipe in nice straight runs for no reason, so you'll want to make sure you have a stretch of water line before it branches off to anything else that's at the very least 5.5" long. Then you still need to be able to plug in the power on one end of that. In addition, you need at least 3" of clearance (more is better) above, below, or to the side of the pipe so the monitor can sit on the pipe. You also need at least 1" on either side of the pipe where the monitor wraps around the sides. In my installation, I only had one option where the main feed came out of the wall before the shut-off valve and it was barely 5.5" long. It was pretty difficult to fit in and get it fastened securely. I broke all four of the include zip ties and ended up using heavier gauge wire to hold it tight enough to the pipe so it could do its measurements. The other issue is ac power. I didn't have a power outlet anywhere close to my water feed, so I've temporarily run it on an extension cord. I'll have to look at getting a power outlet installed somehow that's closer. So, make sure you have power available and the minimum space around the water line or you'll be disappointed. As part of the initial setup, it has to detect the type of pipe. That's where I had to use the heavier wire to clamp it more securely to the pipe before it got a usable connection to "see" through the copper pipe. Once over that hurdle, you have to calibrate it so it measures for about a minute with zero flow. Then the app says "go run water or flush a toilet" while it waits. By the time I turned the main valve back on and got inside to run water, the app had timed out and made me start all over on the calibration. That was frustrating, but the second time worked okay. Once past all the installation and setup difficulties, I really like how the app works and the information I can get with it. By default it displays the gallons you've used during the current day, but you can tap to get more details. That screen shows you the current gpm flow rate as well as a scrolling graph of the last minute of flow. Below that you can select a graph showing each day, month, or the year, as well as compare usage between the current day/week/month and the previous one. As a final bonus, it also displays the room temperature which could be nice if you're maybe worried about the pipes freezing. There are built-in notifications for leaks, and you may need to tweak the settings based on your typical usage patterns to avoid false alarms. They have two types: Major and Slow leak alerts. The major leak can be 2, 4, or 6 gpm for a time period of 2.5, 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30 minutes. The default is 4 gpm for 5 minutes, so you'd have 20 gallons spilled with that setting before getting notified. The slow leak threshold choices are either 0.5 or 1.0 gpm over 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, or 60 minutes. The default is 0.5 for 20 minutes, so there would be 10 gallons loose before the notification. The best threshold may really depend on your household usage patterns, like how long you shower, water the yard, etc. Finally, there's a home or away mode for the app. If you tell it you're away, then it'll notify you if ANY water flows for longer than 15 seconds. I'm guessing this will not trigger on most ice makers, etc. This feature is also where the Alexa integration comes into play. Apparently you can tell Alexa to tell Streamlabs that you're going away or back home to change this alert setting. As far as I can tell, that's the only Alexa function available right now. If you choose to integrate it with Nest, then I believe it will detect when you're home or away and make the setting automatically. One way I had hoped to use the monitor was to tell when we've left a tap running a very small stream. We have cats and some of them like to drink directly out of the tap--if you have cats, you probably know what I'm talking about. Sometimes we go off while the cat is drinking and forget to turn it off. Unfortunately, while the small stream does use quite a bit of water over time, it's not over the 0.5 gpm flow rate so doesn't trigger an alert. It also still shows 0 gpm for the flow rate in the display. So, it seems this is strictly for larger leaks. Still, though, I'm glad to have the monitor just for watching overall water usage. I think it'll also be useful when in "away" mode to notify when almost any water is used. If you're interested in that type of information, have a nearby power outlet, and a clear stretch of pipe to install it on I'd recommend giving it a try.

This is something I haven't thought of previously, but is a really useful device to know whats going on in your home. I am in the process of turning m home into a "smart home". Alexa devices, Nest cams and thermostats, smart locks, and water detection systems to detect a water back up into the basement, and now this... Unboxing and setting up the device was easy. Attaching to the pipes using zip ties was simple, connecting it to WiFi was easy, downloaded the app and answered a few questions and off we went. You calibrate it by flushing a toilet or putting a known amount of water down the drain and you're all set! I think this is a very useful device and something that most people may not think about, but is very useful!

When I first saw this device, I wasnt sure how it could be of any benefit to me, but after having it for awhile, I must say its a great little device! Immediately connected to my wifi, immediately able to read my water useage, and, actually tells you immediately of any sort of minor leak, or major leak. Great tech product, and its nice that it works just like it supposed to!

I have always been a fan of the connected world, since I was a little kid I've always dreamed of getting closer to the Jetsons and hope to live to see everything cool. We'll add this one to the list. it took me awhile to figure out how to install it but I finally got it in with a plumber friend of mine, and once he showed me it seemed a lot more simple but I'm a hire other people to do it kind of guy. However since I have had this thing installed it goes great with My ring, My Alexa and My Google Home. My whole house is connected and nothing happens without me knowing it. I have been a victim of two home burglaries, a house fire and some floods. For once the connected world has truly brought me some peace.

The Streamlabs Wi-Fi Home Water Monitoring and Leak Detection System is easy to install assuming you have at least a section of 6 to 8 straight smooth pipe to attach the device to. You also must have a power outlet nearby which makes it impossible to install the device in a yard main. I had to attach it, after replacing the pipe since it wasn't smooth and straight, on the inlet to my water softener. So the easy to install in 5 minutes is true if everything is perfect. Would have preferred to install by the main intake in the yard, but the power requirement made that not possible. Before purchasing, make sure you have 1) power nearby, 2) a straight smooth piece of pipe at least 6 to 8 inches long. Otherwise, it won't work.

So many issues I don't know where to start.... 1. I was only able to get this to work after hours of reading, watching videos, making tiny adjustments to the positioning, and doing that all again. Using copper pipe which is supposedly fully compatible with the Streamlabs monitor, but it the unit couldn't have been more finicky. 2. The accuracy seems to fluctuate by 20-25% when I compare this to my actual city water meter. Sometimes it's high, sometimes it's low. Very seldom is it right on enough that I would trust the Streamlabs numbers. 3. I had hoped I could actually collect enough data to start to iron out the errors in the readings, but the Streamlabs company now wants me to shell out a monthly fee to access my own data! I told tech support that I have my own server and am happy to collect my water usage data locally so they don't need to use their bandwidth or storage--but Streamlabs apparently is in the business of collecting my water usage data to then sell it back to me later? Very disappointing business model, and one that is totally antiquated when you look at the other "smart" water meters that are available now.
