Just right for inside or outside entertaining. It’s fun to watch the unit too. Deal of the Day was worth buying it for 1/2 price.

I bought 2 of these for an elementary school for playing musical chairs. Pros: * Looks great. * Very loud, but distorted at high volumes. * I like that you can turn off the "light show". It distracts the kids. Cons: * The tuning knob seems to be "backwards": turning counter clockwise makes the orange tuning line move right, turning clockwise makes the orange tuning line move left. * When a USB stick is inserted, the handle bumps into it (for larger USB sticks) * Selecting the USB input is not intuitive (press and hold the Play/Pause button) There is a button for "light show" but not for "USB source". * The biggest problem, which was a deal breaker and lead me to return the units, is a related to playing MP3s through the USB port: inserting a USB stick full of MP3s and pressing play works fine. However, when you hit pause and then hit play, the unit skips the first couple of seconds of the song. Similarly, if you hit pause during a song, advance to the next track to cue up the next song, and then hit play, the unit skips the first couple of seconds of the song. The net result of this problem is that the person controlling the boombox seems to be constantly making a mistake. "Play the song from the beginning!" the children shouted every time. I resorted to burning the MP3s to a CD like it was 1999 to test if this weird problem of skipping the first couple of seconds was specific to the USB input, but it is not. Playing an MP3 CD exhibited the same problem, effectively skipping the first 2 seconds of the song. My guess is this is a buffering problem or something related to the way the unit decodes MP3s. Maybe a low-cost chip. This is unacceptable. The reason for this thing to exist is to play music and it cannot do that 100% correctly.

melting of strip for choosing radio station cannot change radio stations because of this defect otherwise cd sound good and size and sound excellent.

It's made of cheap plastic, but is very heavy. No radio reception. Terrible sound. I returned it.

Had it 3 weeks, CD player works only part of the time

It seems to be okay for a portable boom box and it can be used in emergency situations as needed.
