It does its job for a decent price compared to the brand name accessories. It fits my canon eos rebel dsrl and eos R mirrorless camera as well. Fully digital display with easy to follow instructions, the flash is useful up to a distance of about 30 feet outdoors for a decent picture. Uses 4 AA batteries not included, it feels a little heavy but makes you feel like a pro as well.

The Sunpak DF4000U External Flash has been a game-changer for my photography setup! As someone who’s always struggled with low-light shooting, this flash has completely transformed the way I take photos. It’s super easy to use, even for someone like me who isn’t a professional photographer. The adjustable angles and range give me so much flexibility—I can bounce light off walls or ceilings for softer, more natural shots. I’ve been using it with my DSLR, and the results are incredible; my photos look so much more vibrant and professional now. What surprised me most is how lightweight and compact it is. It’s easy to carry in my camera bag without adding bulk, which is perfect when I’m out shooting on location. If you’re looking for an affordable, reliable external flash that delivers excellent results, I can’t recommend the DF4000U enough!

The Sunpak DF4000U External Flash is a solid choice for anyone needing a reliable and easy-to-use external flash. It provides more than enough flash power for family photos, whether indoors or outdoors, ensuring bright, clear images every time. I found it simple to install, and it synced well with my camera without any issues. The only downside is the battery life. The AA batteries don’t last long, so I’d recommend carrying extra ones, especially if you're planning a longer photo session. Despite that, for the price, it offers great value and performs well overall. Overall, the Sunpak DF4000U is a great external flash for casual and family photographers. Just be prepared with extra batteries, and it’ll work wonders for your photos!

So far so good. Ordered it from the store and had it home in two days. It is a little heavy and makes the camera look a bit off balance, but the indoor pictures with it are great so far. P.S. You'll need to buy rechargeable 4 AA batteries since it doesn't bring any.

For what you pay for, this is a solid external flash. It is rather feature-rich for the price point and comes with a number of nice-to-have accessories such as a bag, diffuser cap, and a tripod mount. As other reviewers have pointed out, it does at quite a bit of heft to your kit but does not make it unwieldy. Solid entry-level flash.

I was looking for an external flash and came across this one. It was a great price compared to some of the others and had all the functions I needed. I’m very surprised at what a positive difference there is when using this flash vs the on camera flash. I would recommend this and suggest rechargeable batteries so no need to keep buying the 4 batteries

This is a very large flash that works ok with my Nikon D800, D850, and D5500. TTL works and Commander works as well, although many options need to be configured on the flash itself. The camera's optional flash menus are disabled on all three of my bodies. I'm using newly charged NiMH batteries and the flash power and recycle time are not as impressive as you would expect from something this physically large. TTL balanced is the only TTL mode available, standard TTL is unavailable even with the camera in spot meter. High speed sync works. The power zoom also works properly. To summarize, the flash is certainly a good value for what I paid. I plan to use it as a remote flash in commander mode, even though the recycle time is fairly slow at low ISO.

This flash was used at an outdoor wedding last weekend in a wooded area. This flash performed great. The range was more than sufficient. The refresh rate on this thing was amazing. The flash was able to take back to back photos without delay. I let some other people try it out with their Canon camera's and it autosync'd quickly. It comes with a built in diffuser and a case. I really like this flash. The most bang for the buck. The only negatives for me is that it doesn't come with the 4 AA size batteries and it is a bit (not much) heavier than my old flash. If I had to do it over again, I would still purchase this flash for my Canon DSLR system.

This product I was concerned if it would be compatible with my Canon camera, it took a little bit to learn how to use it so I was very unfamiliar with it but I put it on the lowest setting and I just went from there. I felt that is synced up with the camera shutter button very precisely. My sister bought the Canon flash which in my opinion I think does work a little bit better than this generic brand however I felt it did the job for a cheaper price.

My SB-600 died on me and I needed a replacement flash for some portraits I was going to take that day. I picked this up to use with my Nikon D700. I am a long time advanced enthusiast and mostly use Nikon and Olympus hardware. So far I have been happy with the results of this flash. I'll probably eventually get a new Nikon flash, but this has been working well in the meantime. It's a great value for what it costs. If you are looking for a decent flash on a budget or a backup for your more expensive flash I think this is a very good option, at least for Nikon. I haven't tested its performance on other platforms yet.

    Good flash, but...

The flash puts of a great ttl flash; however, the hotshoe connection seems loose and cheap. I picked up this flash for a wedding in March. I haven't really used it since until yesterday at another wedding. The weight of the flash and a lightsphere broke the cheap plastic where the locking washer is. I've had to take it apart and jb weld it, but there is still too much wiggle. I didn't care about voiding the warranty repairing on my own, but I know a new one would do the same thing. They need to beef up that area a bit.

Second times buying this flash. Good price, good quality, ease to use, does the job. After using theirs for more than 4 years no issues I drop the other one and had an error connection when attaching to cámara that is why I needed a new one. I recommend for starters or even pro photographers.
