Bought this recently for my wife as a novice photographer. The price point for this tripod is hard to beat. The legs actually extend to about 5ft 6-8inches with the camera on the stand. Very sturdy and has been reliable on all our photography outings. Our Nikon D5500 works great with this but would probably be weary if you’re using a very heavy camera or forward heavy lens. Overall a great buy.

Oh boy, let me tell you about this Sunpak PlatinumPlus 5858D 58" Tripod - it's a real game-changer! I mean, who needs to lift weights when you can lug this thing around all day? It's like the Arnold Schwarzenegger of tripods - strong, sturdy, and built like a tank.
And let's talk about the color - black. It's like the tripod is saying, "I'm not here to mess around, I'm here to get the job done." I swear, just looking at it makes me feel more professional already.
But the real magic happens when you start using it. With its adjustable legs and 3-way pan head, it's like the tripod has its own personal yoga instructor. It can contort itself into any position you need, whether you're shooting a portrait or a landscape. And don't even get me started on the quick-release plate - it's like a magic trick, except instead of pulling a rabbit out of a hat, you're attaching your camera to the tripod in seconds flat.
Overall, I'd say the Sunpak PlatinumPlus 5858D 58" Tripod is the best thing to happen to tripods since sliced bread. If you're in the market for a tripod that's both reliable and a real workout, look no further.

Light, cheap (in price), easy to use. Perfect for smaller projects and stills. Be aware that this is not made for heavier cameras or objects. I use it mainly for a laser leveler and it works fine.

It's light (both a plus and a minus)
The pan head is a bit sticky (but fine for a still camera)
It's a bit spindly (but sturdy enough for my mirrorless Sony a6000)
I've used it with a 300mm equivalent lens and with careful technique it's solid enough to deliver great photos.
The mounting plate is plastic and a bit cumbersome.
HOWEVER, FOR THE PRICE IT'S A GOOD DEAL.

I bought an almost identical tripod about 20 years ago and it lasted a long time. The head on that old one became sloppy from holding up the old heavy camcorder, so I decided to get a new one to go with a new Nikon D3200 DSLR Camera. It worked out fine. It's not the heaviest or best built tripod, but it didn't break the bank, either.

I recently added a new tripod to my photography gear, and it has been an outstanding purchase. This tripod is incredibly sturdy and well-built, providing a rock-solid base for my camera. It’s easy to set up and adjust, allowing for precise positioning to get the perfect shot every time. The stability it offers, even on uneven surfaces, is remarkable. It’s also lightweight and portable, making it convenient to carry around for outdoor shoots. Overall, this tripod has greatly enhanced my photography experience, and I highly recommend it to any photographer looking for a reliable and versatile tripod.

Pretty solid tripod, I was actually surprised considering the average cost of a high end tripod can be three to four times as expensive. I’ve been using it regularly and have zero complaints! The phone mount came in handy as well, however I mostly use this with my Canon R5 and it holds the weight fine!

I was looking for a cheap, light-weight tripod for when I just need to pop my H4N on a stand to monitor sound or put up my light ring. It works for both really well and came with a cell phone mount, which is cool. I've always likes Sunpak for their price and they don't totally fall apart immediately like many other cheaper tri-pods. My previous one I used to shoot short films for around 9 years before I lost it. Happy I nabbed this one on Black Friday!

i needed a tripod to take pictures for a event, and i picked this one up because it met the height i needed it for. As a bonus it wasn't very expensive. After using it for a bit, took some pics of the family, i was satisfied enough with it.
All in all its a good product its not heavy, has enough adjustment points to do whats needed, and it wasn't very expensive at my local Best Buy store. So yeah, small wins. bd

I bought a couple of these because they were on sale for 50% off for $14.99 each, thinking they were disposable quality. After using them for about 2 months, they are quite nice! I was surprised how stable it was. They are cheap! Plastic parts with aluminum legs keep everything lightweight. But overall they work just fine. And at that price point you can travel with these and leave them with a aspiring new photographer when you are finished.

This tripod is a must have when you don't have steady hands. Bought as a gift for our daughter taking photography classes. Starting out as a beginner in photography, this a great value.
Taking pictures around town & you want to be able to focus without blurring pictures this was so helpful. Also was able to use for quick steady photos of my nephews & nieces, helped in making photos look very professional.
