Great tripod if you want to have still photos. The ability to set the angle and forget is easy with the grip. The tripod is very stable and secure. The tripod does not work well for video. The lack of leverage causes the camera to move too far too fast.

Not a bad design at all, but not for heavy lenses

I used this to take pictures of the eclipse. It couldn't angle all the way back except in the cutout on the grip allowing for portrait orientation. That's not a huge deal since it's a single use case, but with a heavy 200mm f2. 8 Canon L lense it could not hold up! This is a heavy setup and the tripod is a bit flimsier in this regard than expected, so a star comes off. However, for the price, its not too bad, but I'd pony up the few extra dollars for the Manfrotto.
